My family stayed at this property over the Xmas holidays 2011. It was perfect for us. The unit is in immaculate condition, has all the creature comforts of a luxury apt, and is very spacious. We also like the flexibility to go to the Mauna Kea beach/pool/gym or the Hapuna Prince beach/pool/gym. I highly recommend this property for families who don;t want to stay in a hotel, be cramped in a 400 sf room and eat out 3 meals per day. The logistics were seamless and we'd stay here again next year and refer people to this property. Excellent!

This was our first, and certainly, not our last time staying at a condo and it couldn't have been more lovely. Our collective jaws dropped when we entered the front door...this is really such a beautiful and spacious place! The convenience ot the two nearby resorts with their fabulous beaches just added to it all. I would highly recommend it!
Owner response:So happy to spoil you! Glad to hear we succeeded in giving the decor an upscale, uncluttered feel, while providing cushiony comfort throughout. We enjoy adding occasional touches of red to the color scheme – our latest additions are watercolors from our travels in China. The large painting of the Yangtze River above the great room TV was painted on a river-cruise by the ship’s artist and calligrapher who’s also a master at kung fu and gymnastics!

This condo provides 5 star amenities including state of the art appliances, wonderful furnishings with beautiful décor, large comfortable rooms with equally comfortable beds and a patio that provides a spectacular view of palm trees and the ocean. The location is ideal as the condo is a 5 minute walk to the community pool and situated on a beautiful golf course. Some of the best beaches in the country are a 5 minute drive away. The owners pride in this condo is evident in every aspect. You WILL NOT be disappointed!
Owner response:Thank you for the lovely comments! It’s very important to us that our guests are comfortable – we are very picky when choosing furnishings, keeping style and comfort always in mind. The chaise part of the sofa is always a favorite spot to kick back and read or watch the 52” TV. A new ottoman for the chairs and also large floor pillows (handmade with Hawaiian fabrics!) fill out the comfort zone in the great room. And the beds HAVE to be comfortable, when you’ve got a full day ahead of you of golf, or tennis, or hiking, or beaching, or even hula dancing lessons!

Everything was as good or better than advertised. Mauna Kea beach is amazing - best beach in Hawaii. Hapuna Prince Golf course was fun to play and was not busy midweek. The photos don't do this place justice - it is nicer in person. Perfect setup for a family. Kitchen has everything you need to cook and eat in if you don't feel like a restaurant everyday. We would definitely stay here again if we return to the Big Island.

Thank you for renting us your home in Wai ula ula. We had a fabulous time. The weather was great, the unit is spacious and very luxurious. Judging from the decor, you have traveled extensively. Both Mauna Kea and Hapuna Prince hotels have much to offer; beautiful beaches and great facilities. We loved the exclusive catamaran trip from the Mauna Kea; only 12 people. We saw a pod of about 300 spinner dolphins that just made the trip more special. Hope we can get back to the Big Island some day. Mahalo.
Owner response:Glad to hear your WaiUlaUla vacation was everything you wanted it to be. Mahalo for the great tip about the catamaran sailing trip - what a huge pod of dolphins! There really are so many incredible things to do on the Big Island - a stay here can be the vacation of a lifetime!

We just came back home from the wonderful vacation at your condo. Your villa was just amazing. We had one of the best vacation ever. We have been to other Hawaii islands, but never been to Big Island. Now we all are a big fun of Big Island. Every day was beautiful and shining without rain. Your condo is so comfortable, so we just stayed in house almost all day for first two days. I really like the breeze in the room when windows are open. It was so relaxing. The children loved their own bed rooms. I love to cook and had a great time using your kitchen, which has almost everything you need. Besides going to beach and hotel pool, we took private tennis lessons for three days at Mauna Kea Resort. We wish we could stay longer. We definitely want to go back again in the future.

Thank you Larry and Julie! We loved your place in paradise. Great location and views. We were very impressed by your interior decor. The kitchen is well equipped with quality cookware. The condo feels like a $4,000/night Four Seasons suite. We are telling our friends and family where stay on their next trip to the islands...your place. Cant wait to return.

We just returned from a fantastic 2 weeks at this condo in Wai'ula'ula. We're already talking about booking it again next year. The condo is beautifully appointed with EVERYTHING you need for a family vacation. It is clean, easy, beautiful views, easy access to the Hapuna Prince and the Mauna Kea and easy access to the recreational center. Early morning walks down to the Mauna Kea beach were lovely & scenic, as well. The rooms are large and comfortable, as is the lanai and the living room. Every day we would drive (or take the hotel shuttle) to either hotel's beach and spend the day there with snorkeling gear and a cooler with our drinks & lunch. I couldn't recommend this place enough.

We had a wonderful stay at Oceanview Mauna Kea. The property was clean and well-maintained. The views of the ocean were outstanding. This particular location on the big Island provides a unique opportunity to be in a dry desert like climate which is very comfortable. The tropical breezes at night keep you comfortable. Waking up early in the morning is such a pleasure when you can walk to the amenity center in two minutes. I liked starting each day with a workout utilizing the exercise equipment, a swim in the pool and a soak in a hot tub followed by an outdoor private shower. The golf courses are challenging in every way. Watching a whale breach in the ocean before you tee off is truly unique. I have recommended this property to many of my friends.

We enjoyed 7 spectacular nights at this lovely, large beautifully decorated condo in Waiulaula with our two teenage boys. The boys enjoyed their own bedrooms with TVs. The kitchen had every gourmet gadget and we cooked some great meals and went out to the nearby harbor and Waimea to eat dinner several times at great restaurants. The condo TV system gets every channel so you won't miss your favorite sports. The mattresses were firm - no sore back! Perhaps one of the best things about staying here is the ability to use both hotels, Mauna Kea and Prince. I worked out at both facilities exercise rooms and took body sculpt classes at the Prince. I played in tennis tournaments at the spectactular Mauna Kea Beach resort and my husband golfed at the Prince for a low fee. The boys took the shuttle from the hotels to the condo so the mile distance was not a problem. We loved the beautiful setting on the hill and swimming in the condo pool at night after a day at the beach - we alternated between the two resorts: don't miss the 1.5-mile ocean-front trail between the Mauna Kea and Prince. Bring a cooler and snorkeling gear to one of the two resort beaches during the day with sandwiches and cold drinks and enjoy a home-cooked meal at the condo at night while watching an ocean-view sunset from the condo balcony and save some serious money on resort meals. This was so much better than staying at either hotel in tiny rooms. It's easy to get to Hilo from this north island location for a day trip to visit the farmer's market, rain forest and astronomy center. We also went to movies and dinner in Kona, just 30 minutes away. Waimea, with it's affordable supermarket and great restaurants,is just 15 minutes away. The volcano national park is about two hours away. I'd overnight at the Volcano Village Lodge rainforest retreat if space is available. This condo is the perfect place to stay in the big island that combines luxury, privacy, resort facilities, beaches and proximity to great attractions. We would love to stay here again. Contrary to my biggest worry, the teens did not feel isolated up here - they welcomed the beauty and spacious comfort of the condo after a hard day out of doors around people.

Comment Text: Dear Dr Henig and family, My wife, Paula, and I have just returned back home from our vacation to Hawaii. I wanted to thank you for making your condo available to us. It is beautifully decorated and furnished, and we found it comfortable and a pleasure to stay in. All the amenities available both in the unit and in the recreation facility, not to mention the two hotels, were fabulous. The welcome basket was a very nice touch and we found the rental services folks to be helpful when called upon. All in all, your home helped to make our vacation wonderful and memorable. I will pass along your site to friends and I hope we can also come again, in the future. Our kids are jealous!

We just returned from an amazing stay at your home at the Mauna Kea resort. The house is larger than we thought - the pictures do not show the true size. And every appliance and fixture is top-notch - huge sub-zero fridge, Wolf appliances in kitchen (including Wolf outdoor barbecue....) The FREE valet parking at both the Mauna Kea and the Hapuna Prince made access so easy. We had nicer rooms than our friends who paid much more than us by staying in the hotel. And the community pool and rooms were so elegant - we did not have enough time to fully enjoy it all..... I would go back any time. Aloha Wasserman, Mill Valley, CA

Aloha! Beautiful condo, and a fantastic vacation - we had never been to the Big Island and we love it! Julie & Larry, thank you for sharing your peaceful and luxurious condo with us. We played lots of golf - Hapuna, Kona Country Club, Big Island C.C., Waikoloa Village, and Makelai - lots of fun. Took a drive all the way around the island in one day - waterfalls, rainforests, volcano park, made the trip great. Coming back to relax on the lanai and soak in the hot tub was truly a treat - we'll be back next year you can bet!

5/08 - We loved this condo - from the time we opened the front door and looked through the beautifully decorated living room, across the lanai, past the golf course to the ocean views. The overall ambiance of the condo was great, with it's wonderful decor and very functional layout - the two master suites with spacious baths were a real plus. We loved the location, close enough to Kona to be able to easily go to the restaurants and amenities there, but far enough away that we could enjoy the laid back Hawaiian vacation. Being able to use the Mauna Kea amenities was a real plus - including the beach areas.. We really enjoyed having the Hapuna golf course so handy. It was easy working with the owners to arrange our visit. We travel a lot and this was a highlight in the places we've stayed - we would definitely return and have no hesitation in giving this a high recommendation.

6/2007 Dear Larry and Julie, We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your condo for a week this year and we are very much interested in returning. Everything was top notch from the room decor to the appliances, especially in the kitchen. The views were great. I especially enjoyed having access to the hotel amenities, the restaurants, and the pool. The condo, in my opinion, is located in a very special area of the big island next one of the best beaches in the world, Hapuna Beach.

Dear Larry & Julie, Our three-week stay in your condo was really great! I love how you decorated it - very modern and yet comfortable. The view is fantastic - enjoyed a different sunset every evening, all very beautiful. Saw several whales and quite a lot of birdlife from the lanai - just perfect. I hope someday the rest of our family can enjoy a vacation here!
