DOULIANA VILLAGE

Douliana is the ideal place to relax, and enjoy the nature while staying with your partner or family. For people showing sensitivity and particular sympathy for: nature, relaxation, exercise, nutrition with pure ecological products, taste and delight, entertainment and communication with the locals, and time for recollection. From here you can make everyday excursions to the sandy beaches of Almirida and Kalives (3-4 km), which are in short walking distance through a magnificent olive and cypres forest (3 km) distance although hire car is recommended.

Almirida beach has two sandy Blue Flag beaches, the smaller one to the west and a long curving beach to the east; the eastern side is particularly safe for young children. Both have loungers and parasols for rent. You can also hire wind surfers and sailing boats for day trips around the peninsular. A well-known windsurfing school is located on the west beach.

In the village there is tavern with traditional dishes, mini market with ecological products, you can also go to the nearby village of Vamos or Gavalohori where there are more tavernas. If you want to go out during the night for a drink you should try Almirida, Kalives or the Chania old Town (about half an hour by car). For the everyday shopping and general amenities, you should visit Vamos which is the area’s administrative center or one of the two waterfront villages (Kalives and Almirida).

Villages around offer a variety of interesting places and history to reveal from Byzantine monasteries, Venetian remains, Turkish houses and castles.

Nice walks in the country side full of olive trees, cypress, vineyards. Day trips to villages around, a variety of selection of beach ,and always a nice tavern by the sea. Exiting trips to high mountains or driving through to the south coast of the Island to the Libyan sea.
