Come enjoy Alabama's hidden coastal gem. Dauphin Island is an undeveloped coastal community where kids can safely ride their bikes to the store and you can go for a solitary walk on a beautiful white sandy beach. This sleepy island community has enough amenities to have plenty to do but is very quiet and relaxed.
The winter offers moderate temperatures and beautiful sunny days. The month of OCtober is one of our favorites. The heat of summer is over but its still warm enouth for beach and water activities. The spring features several birding events as we are located in a well traveled fly way for many migrating species. The summer is full of long sunny days, mild evening and pleasant coastal breezes. The fishing is incredible.
The resort development, Surf Club, is located off the main road, and on the beach.
Please note that there is not a very good view of the beach from the unit. The unit is on the beach. Other units in the development obscure the view. We rent by the week or month ONLY. Please see calender for availability.

Very Disappointed

We spent a week at this property. Upon arrival we found the unit to be filthy. The ceiling fan in the kitchen was filthy.. I had to wash alot of the cookware and untensils before we could use them, some were even borken. There was food on the floor of the kitchen. We also found food remains in the couch of the living room. The pull out sofa sleeper was so uncomfortable that my son chose to sleep on the couch in the living room instead. The linens provided for the pull out were visibly dirty. Do not expect a firm mattress in either bedroom. Although it is supposed to be a non smoking unit, I found a package of half used cigarettes behind my night table! The description says "not a very good view" of the ocean, There is NO ocean view from this unit. We were also constantly reminded by the onsite property manager and signage of the "Don'ts" for staying at the complex. Not very welcoming. Don't even think about taking your morning coffee to sit by the pool. You will be told that the pool "doesn't open unitll 9:00 and NO food or drink allowed!" There is also a tall fence around the pool which the picture above doesn't show. The pool is in desperate need of a good scrubbing Visible pool scum on the tiles at least an inch thick so that people had etched initials into it! The chairs around the pool area seem to be from the 1960's. The beach area for this complex is VERY narrow, due to erosion, also not shown in the above picture. Barely enough room for a lounge chair unless you want to be in the water. You have to walk a good way for a decently wide beach. We did enjoy being on the island itself. It is beautiful, quiet and peaceful. Go to Dauphin Island but don't stay here. (You definately get what you pay for and alot less!) Do go to the Lighthouse Bakery, Island Pizza, the Estuarium, and do take the car ferry over to Ft. Morgan, Gulf Shores for a day of shopping, fun etc.
