My sister and I saw the pictures above and knew that this was the vacation in Maine we had always dreamed about. It was even better than we imagined! I don't know how to express the view other than repeating "SPECTACULAR"!! The house was just wonderful, very very comfortable, beautifully decorated and thoughtfully outfitted with every need. The kitchen was great and I loved the pots and pans. Normally rentals have pretty well used pans but these were a joy to cook on. (I know it sounds crazy for a vacation, but I love to cook and couldn't wait to whip up some meals with fish fresh off the docks). Every morning we sat on the deck and watched the sunrise, the birds and the many lobster boats. Then we went out touring but always looked forward to coming back to our own little ocean. We loved the Turner Castle in Wiscasset, the botanical garden in Boothbay and the Farnsworth Museum in Camden. And you must drive up Mount Battie in Camden for a wondeful view! Tricia (the owner) was very helpful and understanding of some personal issues we had prior to the rental date. The location is convenient to every need and we met some very nice people in the area. We hope to be able to return soon and would definitely recommend this rental.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The chalk board sign next to the front door says it all – “welcome to paradise.” We recently returned from our second stay at this wonderful house and can’t wait to go back next summer. The views are absolutely breathtaking and the house is extremely comfortable and well equipped. New Harbor is not touristy (a plus for us!) but there is a lot to do within a very short distance, including a beautiful sandy beach, the Hardy Boat cruises to Monhegan Island (great hiking and views) and a puffin sanctuary, and Maine Kayak, which has reasonable rental rates. Shaw’s fish & lobster wharf restaurant is about five minutes away by car and is terrific. There is also a great ice cream shack within walking/biking distance and a well-stocked grocery store.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our family stayed for a week at Sea Star in July 2012. It was one of the best vacations we have had! The home is surprisingly large with so many nice spots to relax. The descriptions of the view could not be more accurate. You can truly hear the surf from every bedroom in the house. Our children had a fabulous time exploring the rocky coastline and playing in the home's large yard. The owners have equipped the house with lots of extras to add to your visit... puzzles, bikes, sand toys, movies, games. The area is beautiful with many picturesque towns , restaurants, and outdoor activities within a short driving distance. We highly recommend Sea Star!Did you find this review helpful? This 1950's era sprawling ranch met our needs very well. It is listed as a 3 bedroom home with 3 baths and we almost didn't find the last two bedrooms. Upon checking in, we wandered through the house which has incredible views of the ocean from the glass sliders along the rear of the home, the big discovery was that you need to go through the master bedroom to the sun-room, then through the next bedroom, and onto the 3rd bedroom. This didn't allow for much privacy but the good thing was that the queen bedroom had a seperate entrance. This suited our needs since we were 4 adults but may pose a problem for others. The fully equipped kitchen was terrific! Large rooms offered space for everyone, 2 televisions, and great interenet service was appreciated. A good selection of books and games for those rainy days. We have vacationed in Maine for many years. This year was our third year in New Harbor and are overjoyed at what this area has to offer.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, sightseeing.

Just returning from a week in this lovely home in Maine! Can't say enough about how wonderful it is! Truly! This is our second year to visit and we plan to make it again next year. The accomodations are perfect with every detail thought out in advance to assure you a wonderful expereince. There is really nothing we were lacking! The location of the house is the best around - and we looked!! The lobster pot comes in handy after purchasing some live lobsters off the dock - we used it three times this visit. We prefer to visit the docks at Round Pond and have had the best luck with lobsters and steamers at the co-op not the larger Muscongus Bay lobster across the parking lot. My favorite place is out on the lawn or deck overlooking the water with a good book. My husband likes the comfy chair in the living room with the same view but indoors! It's wonderful on a rainy day to be able to sit on the couch with a good book and still have a wonderful unobstructed view of the ocean. Every room has an ocean view with the exception of the cozy family room in the front of the house well equipped with puzzles, books, games and a gas fireplace. We cooked almost all our meals in - the kitchen has everything you could imagine - even made homemade gingerbread one night. View of the ocean from the kitchen and dining room make dining in a delight. The local supermarket is wonderful - freshed baked rolls each afternoon - wonderful selection of local grown produce as well as meat items and really anything you need. The Pemaquid Point lighthouse is just 5 miles down the road and the restaurant next door (Sea Gull Restaurant) has the best blueberry pancakes I have ever eaten. Shaws in town is great for lobster rolls and fried clams. Trips to Camden and Owl's Head are easy with lots of fun, quaint harbors to see in the area. It's a great place to go to get away from it all. Private but close enough to all the necessities. Great area for long walks - wonderful trail down to Back Bay. We look forward to returning next year. Description on website is absolutely accurate - pictures don't near show the beauty of it all. Property was clean and well maintained. The owners are great to deal with - never any issues there. No downside to this rental at all. It truly has become our home away from home! Counting the days until we can return!Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

There are reasons we return each year to Sea Star: First and foremost is the setting, wide ocean frontage with views all the way to Monhegan Island...It's fun to have your morning coffee sitting on the deck while watching lobstermen pull their traps, so close you seemingly feel the rocking motion of the boats. The setting is one of complete privacy and yet, without a feeling of seclusion....It's difficult to describe the summer home itself...It's quite roomy and bright with an open feeling due to the many oversized windows facing the sea. It has a theme of the nautical; is tastefully decorated, and functionally complete, lacking nothing in terms of amenities and comfort. When young grandchildren visit, it's just a short hop (five minute drive) to one of Maine's awarding winning beaches, beautifully described recently in DownEast magazine......and, of course, the New Harbor and Pemiquid area still retains the real Maine flavor without the hustle and bustle of the more touristy nearby areas. There is a variety of restaurants in the area ranging from formal dinning to the casual, but really, there is nothing like steaming up some clams and lobsters for friends and family and enjoying the striking ocean views right outside your door. As far as activities are concerned, the young have plenty to choose from....swimming, fishing, kayaking the Pemiquid river or just visiting the friendly pubs of nearby "Scotty".....and for the more mature (we're in our mid-seventies) we have more than we can do just trying to vist the many wonderful Art Galleries and Museums in the area.......but when it comes right down to it..we love to come home to the comfort and charm of the Sea Star.....The home is surely well named...a shining Star by the Sea!Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

This property was hugely comfortable with several amenities--roomy chairs for reading next to remarkable views, spacious rooms, lovely walks nearby, meticulously maintained home, great internet access, easy to use laundry facilities and a kitchen with attractive dishes and fine quality pots. Helpful, responsive owners add to the ease of making arrangements. New Harbor the off-the-beaten-path surrounding community is a quiet, authentic place. This was a wonderful vacation spot.Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children.

Welcome to our guestbook. We are the property owners and wanted to give a little of our history and some more details. We purchased the property in Jan. 2005 and have done extensive upgrades to make this a very comfortable and enjoyable vacation home. Upgrades include new furnishings, paint, flooring, wall coverings and plumbing fixtures. This is our first season to rent this property so there are no previous rentors to sign our guestbook...this being the month of March 2005. During the rental season (Summer)we spend our time in Idaho closer to our kids and grandchildren. We feel very lucky to have found this choice spot as there are waiting lists to purchase bold open ocean frontage which is rare in Maine because of all the islands and coves. Please feel comfortable to call us about any questions or concerns. Best wishes and good luck on your vaction plans!Bruce and Nancy Erickson207-677-3220208-691-3981 cellDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/1
