Location: Capitol Hill, Seattle, Puget Sound, Washington State, USA (We're on Capitol Hill, 10 blocks to downtown Seattle.) View Map
Accommodations: Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Detached Unit, 1 Bath (Sleeps 4)
Keywords: Large One Bedroom Apartment in Central Location
Apartment 300 is a one bedroom apartment. We've combined two studios, so it's large and very comfortable. The living room is a large room with good closet space and two large windows facing east. It has a queen sleeper sofa and two large stuffed chairs, plus an eating table, TV and Stereo. And Free Wi-Fi.
In the bedroom is a King Bed, another TV, a chair, dresser, and small desk. It's very comfortable!
The kitchen is at the far end of the apartment. It has a gas range, vented microwave, small appliances and everything you need to cook (except the food.)
The bathroom has a combined tub/shower. The tub is an original claw-foot tub. It came with the building in 1910! It's a great place to soak your feet after a long day walking about the city.
You'll like staying here because it's a really well kept building in a very convenient location. Across the street is a large grocery store with a great selection of produce, excellent deli, bakery, wines, cheeses. There is a large drugstore above the supermarket. There are restaurants, stores and night spots on every block, all around us.
The area is known as the Pike-Pine Corridor. It's called that because Pike, our street, and Pine, which is one block away, are the two main connector streets running from the Pike Place Market, through downtown Seattle and up onto Capitol Hill. We're in the middle, between downtown and the residential areas of Capitol Hill. Ours is a very busy neighborhood. When the stores and businesses close downtown, our area comes alive. Pike Street becomes more busy into the late hours of the evening, as there are dozens of restaurants in this area, literally all around us. We're the area in Seattle where people come out at night. It's lively and fun, a great place to be.
This is a charming building, built in 1910, well kept up with period woodwork and classic charm. There are several retail spaces at street level and two floors of apartments above them. The building is on the corner of East Pike Street and Harvard Ave. The Apartment is on the third floor on the Harvard Avenue Side of the building. It has a view down to Harvard. Pike Street has lots of traffic and people on the street at all hours while Harvard has much less noise, making the apartment a great place for a good nights sleep.
This is a wonderful location to explore the city! And you'll love staying at St. John's. Please check our calendar and let us know when you're coming. If apartment 300 is full we will try to accommodate you in one of our other apartments.
We have a great manager in the building, Johnny Sidorowicz. Johnny lives in apartment 200, and he's always ready to help our guests in any way he can. Map & Owner's Profile
Apt 300 at St. John's: a Large One Bedroom
Year Purchased: 2005
Why the Owner Chose Capitol Hill
We bought the building here because it was here, and we got lucky finding it. It was just what we wanted.
We wanted a mix of businesses from our building and we wanted to be involved with our tenants. We have short term tenants, people on vacation and people on business trips; plus 22 full time residents in the building; plus the retail businesses on the ground floor. We have a diverse mix of tenants and short term guests. It's a great business model, but it only works if the location is right, which it is at St. John's. The street we're on, and the neighborhood, and the businesses around us, make this the perfect location to stay when you're in Seattle!
Owner's Map of Capitol Hill
Mark Chambers and Oda Egeland own St. John's. We're a couple in our 50's and the building is an investment for us, and a lot more. We live in the country but stay in our short terms when we come into town. St. John's is our home in the city! We've made the apartments more than just furnished rooms. We've tried to make everything in each apartment be super comfortable. The chairs and bed are as good as we could get. The linens are 600 thread count. Etc. Etc. We want it to be everything that we've promised here, a great place that you'll enjoy and want to come back to. We think we've done a good job so far and we're still working on it. He hope you'll come stay with us, and look forward to meeting you when you do!

We spent three nights here in July and everything was fantastic! It's about a 15-minute walk to downtown and 25 minutes to the Space Needle. The apartment was clean and bigger than I expected. The bathroom was completely redone recently and looks great! The lighting can be kind of weird though. There is a window in the bedroom closet with no curtains and no closet door. It's plenty dark at night but it could be a problem if you want to sleep late. And why do the windows in the kitchen open into the building's hallway? That's not really a complaint -- I just thought it was strange. Overall, great place at a great value.

My wife and I stayed at St John's apartments for three nights recently while on vacation. Johnny, the apartment manager was great. We considered the apartment building to be in the perfect location for exploring the downtown area. While the building is a older building, we found the apartment to be quiet, clean and spacious. The grocery store was across the street if you wanted to get food. The Thai resturant adjacent to the apartment is quite good too.

Wow! What a wonderful find. We came for a getaway vacation to celebrate our 16th anniversary and our daughters sixth birthday. Having lunch at the Space Needle was an amazing time. Even though it was raining we loved the view. We also loved the Pike Place Market and the Pacific Science Museum. This place was just the Oasis we needed to rest our bodies and restore our souls. Thank you so much for the great hospitality. We would love to come back to Seattle again and stay here at the St. John's. Sp much we missed. We had to save something to make us come back. We will always treasure the memories from this trip. We hope to return.

We had a great time during our first trip to Seattle We agree with Meghan and Dan (previous review) that Molly Moon's Ice Cream is quite tasty. FYI: $5 day bus pass-buy a round trip ticket in Westlake Station of the tunnel to Tukwila. This works as an all day pass for the buses, light rail and water taxi (need $1 extra each way w/the pass for the water taxi). We took the buses everywhere, including Woodland Park Zoo and Ballard Locks-both recommended. Also go to Red Mill Burgers by the Zoo on 67th. Buses 10 and 49 are your friend back up Pike St, so you don't have to walk from downtown. Lastly, don't miss Cupcake Royale (East on Pike) and 3 Girls Bakery @ Pikes Place Market for Desserts.

Wonderful apartment! It was so much larger than we expected-and so comfortable What a great neighborhood too! We walked to Pike Place Market but also enjoyed local spots such as The Baguette Box and Pike Place Fish Fry. Hope to come back again before too long-this was really a great find!

This apartment was wonderful! Very clean and cozy, we felt right at home and hope to return. Easy to wander around the city from here. We would recommend drinks at Bleu on Broadway! Cozy little booths with curtains, cool atmosphere. The QFC on the corner has everything so you can save some money and cook in some mornings/nights. If you find Molly Moon's Ice Cream (behind the field with mountain fountain) it is well worth the wait.

Apt. 300 is wonderful. Good Thai food just downstairs, great to have groceries easily accessible, nice record stores nearby, more restaurants, etc. Came for a wedding and everything worked our great. If we ever return to Seattle we'll definitely stay here again. Saw a Mariners game. Nice Stadium. Too bad the Yankees won (much to the delight of my NY family.) Go Mariners! Johnny was great! P.S. The two chairs in the living room combined for a great bed for our two year old daughter.
