Great Roatan getaway

The location is a short walk to restaurants, which we have never had a bad meal. The scuba shops are very close, The Sunset Beach Grill is just what it's name implies. You can also purchase fresh fish & produce from the locals. Half Moon Bay is only a short walk. The house is fully equipped with all necessaties, nice views of the bay & a cool breeze at night, great for sleeping. Hope to return soon.

Love this place and location

This was our second stay at this property (but our first review). Thought the new paint on the exterior was a great look. My wife and I love the quiet and convenient location in West End, however, we'll miss the breakfasts next door at Casa Calico. Don't know when they'll start again. We like to take the water taxi over to West Bay Beach, snorkel right off the beach, have lunch at Mangiamo's and a beer - or several - at the Thirsty Turtle. Also like to hang out in West End at Half Moon Bay and have cocktails at Sundowners and catch the sunset. The property is clean and comfortable, has spacious decks off one of the bedrooms and living area which also has a hammock for lounging. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed like toaster and blender. There are fans in every room and air conditioning in the two bedrooms. We plan on returning to Roatan every couple years and would definitely stay at Southhouse again.

Amazingly quiet, fun, and relaxing Roatan getaway, close to the beach!

We came for 1 week over spring break, and had an incredible time! Perfect for a couple or family. The house is only a short 1-2 minute walk from the beach (West End) which is ideal. It is very quiet and relaxing, both day and night. You can access the restaurants, bars, beaches, shops, and all other activities on foot. The home itself is very beautiful inside and extremely clean!. Plenty of room and well laid out. The kitchen area is perfect for cooking your own meals. The bedrooms are very spacious and the beds are very comfortable! We really enjoyed the hammock on the back veranda. We went kayaking right from the back of the property, through the mangroves, and out exploring the island. Really beautiful experience. We couldn't have asked for anything better, and the weather was amazing too!

Great Stay - Wonderful Townhome!!

We stayed here for our honeymoon and could not have had a better experience! The townhome is wonderful and the location was perfect! The location is fabulous because you are close to everything but still have a feeling of privacy. The amenities were great, the beds were comfy and we loved the hammocks. The townhome has beautiful finishes throughout. We had a blast at the Palapa bar just down the street and there were many tasty dining options nearby as well. I would recommend South House to anyone looking for a place to stay in Roatan!

Nice Place, But A Few Issues

There were positives and negatives during our stay at this location. On the positive side, the location is great as it is walking distance from everything on West End, plus it is tucked away in a nice and quiet area. In addition, the townhouse itself is nice with two decks, a kitchen and plenty of living space. On the negative side, our dealings with the property manager and owner were less than satisfactory. First, an A/C unit in one room was broken at the time we arrived and was never fixed during our stay. Only two attempts were made to fix the A/C and we constantly had to ask the property manager for updates on the situation. Secondly, there were nails sticking up from one of the decks, while no injury resulted after I stepped on one, the property manager never fixed them during our stay when it likely required a hammer and 5 minutes of his time. Lastly, these grievances were made to the property owner and we only received a 10% discount on our payment. Given we paid for a two bedroom with A/C home and essentially stayed in a 1 bedroom with A/C, the refund seemed completely unreasonable to us. Bottom-line, if it was not for our experiences with the property owner and manager, I would highly recommend this place, but I must provide some caution given our above-mentioned issues.

Owner response:We were more than happy to address your issues upon learning of them when you returned and certainly apologized for any inconvenience to you and your friend. Our property manager attempted to repair the A/C immediately upon complaint but keeping in mind that you were on a third world island with limited access to parts and repair person(s) he was unable and unequipped to fix the A/C within your stay. The ceiling fan in the room remained in perfect working condition and from personal experience keeps the room quit cool, but understandably it is not the same as A/C. Though under no obligation we offered a discount on a future stay (we have dozens of return guests and through your praise of the property and island thought perhaps you may want to return), this was not sufficient for you. As we truly want our guests to walk away happy with their stay we offered and paid you a 10% refund (again through no obligation on our part but we wanted you to be satisfied). Unfortunately nothing we have done has been enough for you. Best of luck on your future travels.
