If you LOVE the outdoors but, for whatever reasons, you do not want to camp, this is the perfect setting to enjoy all the north Summit County area outdoor activities the way you want and still be able to come "home" to fix meals and SLEEP IN A BED. Best of all, you can just sit on your front porch, or by the fireplace, relax in the hot tub, nap, read a book, ENJOY THE QUIET, take in the SPECTACULAR MOUNTAIN VIEWS, watch the hummingbirds and the wildlife and soak up the down-time. Spring through fall the area offers the best in hiking, fishing, boating and hunting. FLY-FISH the Blue River or the Colorado River close by, shore fish the lakes, HIKE in the Eagles Nest Wilderness, jet ski or BOAT on the lake or go 4-WHEELING on drive across Williams Peak and take in the spectacular views of the Gore Range. Your RUSTIC cabin will be COZY, CLEAN, FAMILY FRIENDLY or RURAL ROMANTIC GETAWAY and COMFORTABLE with all the modern conveniences. Yes, they have heat and water. You will find the two cabins to be quite SPACIOUS - each approximately 700 square feet. Both have a queen bed in the bedroom, a 3/4 bath, living room and full kitchen. Both will have all necessary linens and a FULL KITCHEN with all utensils provided, including microwave and coffee maker. Originally built in the '30s, additions were added and interiors remodeled in the 70's and we have updated in the 90's. Don't be fooled by the rustic exteriors! Both cabins have coverd front porches with big views of mountains and open ranch meadows. One cabin has a woodburning stove and one has a woodburning FIREPLACE. We will provide you with a couple bundles of firewood. We also provide firewood for your CAMPFIRE ring a short distance from the cabin. You just need to bring food, clothing, personal items and your fishing pole and hiking boots. The one-bedroom cabins have a queen bed in the bedroom and a hideabed sofa in the living room plus a rollaway bed. See Colorado the way it was 30-40 years ago.

Year Purchased: 1994
We met in the Denver area over 20 years ago and, after several years living in the big city we followed a dream to live in the mountains. We purchased this property which had been vacant for many years and brought it back to life. Dale has a printing career background and I have a real estate career background. We left those careers to be vacation cabin owners and have never regretted the move. Our home is nearby and we live there in the summer and fall with our dog, Guss. We often leave in the winter to visit family in the midwest. We would love to share our "little piece of paradise" with you.
Why the Owner Chose Heeney
Our property is only 1.5 hours drive from the Denver Metro area and sets at the inlet to the closest lake to Denver where water skiing and jet skiing are allowed on the water. It is in an area that has been popular with native Denver/Front Range families since the 50's for camping, boating and fishing. There was only a couple cabins for rent in Heeney so we had virtually no competition. The set up allowed us to live here and be active in the operations.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
We have PRIVATE ACCESS to the Green Mountain Reservoir inlet for some of the best fishing on the lake. It is only about a 3 minute walk to the water. Boat rentals are available about 6 miles away or Dale is a fishing guide if you want him to take you out on our pontoon. Or bring your own boat - we have plenty of parking and you can launch just 1/2 mile up the road at McDonald Flats public boat ramp. We have a small dock for you to tie up your boat for short term use. Quite often the elk graze in the meadow in the early evening across the road. June is the best time to see baby elk. It is an awesome and memorable sight.

September Our 2-day stay at this cabin was a very nice treat. The cabin was very quiet and nice place to “hang our hats” for a few days. We will be back. If you've never been to Cataract Lake during the Fall you're missing the most gorgeous season. The aspen fields around the lake were at their peak fall colors. The mountain peaks were snow capped. It was the most beautiful thing we've seen in quite some time. The 2-mile hike around the lake is easy and can be done by your whole family. These cabins, the hikes the fishing are all a slice of heaven here. Enjoy.
