Property description

Casita Santa Ines (formerly Casa Mariposa Blanca) was once part of the XVI century Franciscan monastery, belonging to the Cathedral of Cuernavaca. Many original features of the colonial times are present in this house, from stairs to niches, tiles, doors and chimneys. Family Treviño (present owners) have maintained the charm of this house by furnishing it with typical Mexican furniture, handicrafts, paintings and lots of flower pots and greenery.

The view from the roof terrace is probably one of the most fascinating features of this house. The city centre is in full view as well as the mountains to the north. Best of all, the sun rise from amongst the two volcanoes (Popocatepetl and Iztacihuatl) is truly breathtaking. A great place to breathe and see the stars on a clear night.

LOCATION:
The house is located right in the middle of the historic centre of Cuernavaca on a small cobbled street, recently renamed after a local painter: “Jorge Cazares”. The house faces south and is in between of the Bishop’s residence and the well-known Brady Museum. In front of the house is a small park called: Parque Revolucion.

LOCAL AMENITIES & CULTURAL SITES CLOSEBY:
Most cultural attractions of downtown Cuernavaca are just a few steps away, such as: Cathedral and complex of old churches, Brady Museum, Cortez Palace, Museum Cuahunahuac, Jardin Borda, Zocalo or Main Square. There are art galleries such as: Casona de Spencer and plenty of restaurants, shops and cafes nearby. There is a large supermarket called “MEGA” two blocks away, following down on avenue Morelos. There is a small bus station one block away (corner of calle Nezahualcoyotl) this bus station is called Pullman Centro and has services to Mexico City southern bus station: Tasqueña and Xochicalco archeological site.

This secure, affordable and comfortable house is ideal for travellers that wish to experience 'the city of eternal spring' and learn of the history and cultural activities that it has to offer. (All within just a few steps away!)
