The property near South Lincoln was as described. The place is a bit rustic; but nice. The appliances all worked well. Good shower with lots of hot water. Note, however, there is no TV signal and no phone. Cell phone signal should be available in Bristol. Even though it is pretty much at the end of a gravel road about 20 minutes from Bristol, it provided a good, central, base for our activities. We traveled several times over the Lincoln Gap (summer) road. Although hilly, winding, and narrow; it has surprisingly good pavement. There is parking for hikers where it crosses the Long Trail. We paid cash (bank draft) and our security deposit has been returned. Some places we liked: Bobcat Cafe and Brewery on Main Street in Bristol: There is a marvelous bronze bobcat over the door. Casual dining with very good food and beer. They sell 3 oz samples, so it's easy to try their local brews. We enjoyed some jazzy bluegrass banjo live from the Gordon Stone Band. Snap's Restaurant in Bristol: Great place for breakfast and lunch. Bristol Bakery and Cafe across the road from the Bobcat: Excellent honey-oat bread and buns. Both Bobcat and Snaps serve bread from the Bakery. Shaw's Groceries is sort of hidden behind the Bakery; but has a nice large parking lot. Moonlit Alpacas near Middlebury: We got to walk in with the very lovely Alpacas. There were several young from a day to a week old. Arleen is a weaver and we bought some alpaca yarn. UVM near Middlebury: The University of Vermont Morgan Horse Farm has a good tour of the barn, a video and many beautiful horses. Vermont Wildflower Farm at Charlotte: Lovely wildflower meadows that will have many more flowers a little later in the season. We bought some seeds. Quechee Gorge on US 4: It is a fairly easy 0.4 mile walk to the bottom Vermont Marble Museum at Proctor: "World's Largest Marble Exhibit" has a good tour & video. There is a resident sculptor and many marble exhibits including a hall of presidents. Ben & Jerry Ice Cream Factory near Waterbury: Tasty tour at Ben & Jerry's. We got there fairly early Sat morning when they weren't too busy. Rock of Ages granite quarry near Barre: Don't miss the Rock of Ages granite quarry tour near Barre. The quarry is 600 feet deep! Vermont always seems to be a very beautiful and peaceful place; we had a pleasantly busy and enjoyable week there.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.
