You will see axis deer, whitetail deer, wild turkey, a wide variety of birds and other wildlife from your front porch!

Our CABINS and VACATION HOMES (which accommodate 6 to 17 people depending on size) have fully furnished kitchens, bbq pits, campfire rings, patios or porches and all the extras. Each cabin is unique, from our one bedroom rustic log cabins located on a cliff to our spacious two bedroom cabins located on 70 acres of riverfront property. I can't tell you how happy and relieved I was to find this place. We have been coming to the Frio on and off for about 10 years and staying in Concan. However we have noticed a big difference in type of people in the last 3 or so years. I'm done with my partying years and was sad about our usual cabin beginning some what over run by college/highschool students. THIS is the perfect place for a family vacation. The other guests were all families. I found out that they do screen guests and don't allow them if they aren't families. I was SO happy!! It isn't crowded and the river here is great.

This is truely a beautiful area. As you drive in you go through hills and when we see the river you aren't going to want to leave. It's clean and clear. There are nice nature trails that take you from the cabin to the river (short walk). There is a pasture/field by the cabins we stayed in and it was nice watching the deer in the morning and evenings. The description was accurate of the property, layout and amenities. Amenities include everything in the kitchen - pots, dishes, silverware, etc and a coffe pot, toaster and microwave. There are a few restaurants in Leakey and Concan. Ella Purls is amazing and we also like Vinnie's Pizza, both in Leakey. Had a great time and we will be coming back!

This was so fun! The cabins are well-kept and well-managed. Perfect amount of space for our four person group. We had enough room to not feel like we were climbing on top of each other. We also were able to take some excellent photos of the beautiful scenery. Highly recommended for families or for couple groups wanting to do something different! And from what I understand from tubing enthusiasts...you cannot have alcohol on the Guadalupe anymore, but you can still have it on the Frio!

The cabins are really close to the Frio River and Garner Park and that's why we will come back. The cabins had everything we need. The BBQ pit, fire ring and picnic table outside the cabin were great, as we like to grill and roast marshmellows! They had firewood at the office and even let us borrow their gumbo pot. Very nice people. I can't say enough about Don and Lisa. They made us feel welcome and that's hard to find nowadays.

Last summer we stayed in the River Terrace Cabin. Upon arrival, we met the owners. They were very hospitable. We are animal lovers and were ecstatic when they let us pet their miniature horses. They answered all our questions and made us feel right at home. The cabin itself was very clean and just the right size for us. Not to mention, the view of the river was amazing. The water was so clear you could see turtles swimming around. This was our first trip to Texas and we will definitely be back.

My wife and I recently stayed at Frio River Cabins and had a great time. It wasn’t our first trip to the area because we love going every year. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly, making our visit even more enjoyable. Our well-maintained cabin was located a short walking distance from the picturesque river. We had a full service kitchen (fridge, stove, oven, microwave, dishes, utensils, and more), living area, two bedrooms and two bathrooms (one bath has a shower). Everything was convenient, comfortable, and well-designed. There are many deer and other wildlife that you can see while relaxing on your front porch. We have visited many state and national parks throughout America and are happy to say the Frio River area is equal in beauty with much to offer for a weekend getaway or a long family vacation. We recommend the Frio River Cabins as the place to stay!

We all had a wonderful time in Concan due to the great accommodations of the Frio River Cabins. Our cabin was a short distance from on the Frio River and surrounded by lots of nature and fun stuff to do. Though our strip of the river had no water, wenhad access to another strip of the river nearby which offered lots of water and even a few small and larger cliffs for us to use to jump in and cool off. We also enjoyed just the relaxed atmosphere around our cabin. We fed the very friendly deer and birds each morning and evening with some corn we brought. The hummingbirds were all around us and enjoyed the feeders all around the cabin. Horse back rides are nearby and we really enjoyed the Frio Bat Flight Tour. My granddaughter and I explored the dried up Frio River and saw many different flowers and unusual rocks. I got lots of photos of birds, deer, my husband sleeping on the porch and throwing the horseshoes by our cabin. We loved the 2 picnic tables outside and ate our dinner there several evenings. The grill worked just great. Cabins were clean and AC sure felt good when we needed to cool off. I look forward to future stays at the Frio River Cabins and maybe next time there will be just a tad more water. Lisa and Don Yaklin, the owners, were very hospitable and Gina, their daughter, was very helpful with our reservations. They sure know how to make you feel welcome. We will head back there next year. Many thanks to the Yaklin family for our great summer adventure. The Harris family, Spring, Tx

After nearly 40 years of vacationing in the Frio Canyon area, we discovered a new jewel. The Frio River Cabins were a wonderful discovery. My wife and I had friends in from Spain. We wanted to show them the Texas Hill Country, and we thought what better place than the Frio River Canyon. I was very familiar with the area, but had always camped. We needed a place for 5 and some place that had amenities yet still would have the flavor and character of the area. We found the perfect spot at the Frio River Cabins. The cabin was very nice, clean, and comfortable. The kitchen was adequately stocked for our friend (a Catalan Chef) to prepare some camp house cooking Catalan style - Buffalo Sirloin Carpaccio anyone? The flora and fauna around the cabin, although typical for a Texan, were a joy to folks that had never experienced our precious hills. The humming birds were amazing and the grils actually found a nesting female. Although the area is in the middle of one of the worst droughts in my memory and the river was as low as I have ever seen it, they did have another nearby river front property where I was able to prove to the Catalans how the river got its name. The cold, pristine, clear blue water was just as it always has been. The owners were wonderful hosts, accommodated our needs (even escorted us after hours to our cabin) and run a first class vacation destination in the Canyon. Their place will forever be a great vacation story and will be an ingrained impression of the beauty that is the Frio River Canyon, for us and our friends from half a world away. We will definitely return. What better way to spend a vacation in the hill country than clean, comfortable accommodations, wonderful hosts, amazing wildlife, and the vistas of the Frio River and Canyon.
