If you are looking for an authentic Plum Island beach house experience, this is the cottage for you. Relax on one of the rocking chairs on the 4 season enclosed porch and enjoy ocean breezes and the quiet buzz of island life. 'The West Wind' is a very cute, very clean, renovated (this winter) vintage cottage with many charming, features maintained but with all the conveniences for today's living. It is 60 seconds' walk from a choice of beautiful beaches including one which is great for younger children, at the more peaceful lighthouse end of the Island on Northern Boulevard. The cottage will suit families or small groups of mature adults. Sleeps 4-6. Living room, dining room, completely new kitchen with new appliances and brand new shower room, laundry/half bath. 3 bedrooms - incredibly comfortable white iron queen bed in first, twin beds in second and double bed in third - all on second floor. Original, refinished heart of pine wood floors throughout. Newer central air conditioning (not window conditioners), new windows, central heating and new insulation will keep you comfortable. Nice partial ocean and basin views from upper floor. A well behaved and supervised dog or two are welcome!

We stayed in this cottage for 3 weeks last spring and it was just beautiful. If you want a real beachhouse instead of a typical family home we would highly recommend this. They take well behaved dogs which is really convenient. The house is incredibly clean and very pretty. The beaches are only a minute or less away and this part of the island is really nice and quiet.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

May/June/Sept..............$1700 per week July, August............$1950 per week House available for winter rental from mid Nov - at $1500 a month. Min 3 months. Sorry, we typically do not rent the house out over long weekends.

About the owner: We are a family of 5 who live in nearby Newbury.
Why the Owner Chose Plum Island:
We fell in love with the light on Plum Island. it is quite unique and one of the last coastal towns in the area that is still relatively authentic. We wanted an original house with character to capture the true essence of PI and we found it with the West Wind. We renovated it this winter - all new shingles, windows and roof as well as a new kitchen, shower room and wc/laundry!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
The porch is a key benefit. It has also been completely renovated with many windows with screens, for nice ocean breezes. You can either relax on the wider part with friends or while away the time on a rocking chair at the front section. The house is also one of the last remaining original cottages. It is almost 100 years old and we have restored it to retain much of it's character while making it suitable for modern day living.
