A BIRD WATCHERS PARADISE
Heron's Rest is a 1910 cabin sitting on 5/8 acre along the Necanicum River north of downtown Seaside, Oregon. Facing west, the picture windows wrap around the front of the house providing hours of beautiful views of the river, estuary, and sunsets. The ample yard offers a play area for kids and a lovely riverside sitting/BBQ area. Located just far enough from downtown to be a quiet secluded setting, the cabin is only 2 blocks from the 12th street bridge, a favorite crabbing location, and just an 8 minute walk (6 blocks) to the beach. The restaurants and shopping areas are a short 10 minute walk, or 2 minute drive away.
The cabin is fully furnished for short or long stays. Two bedrooms without adjoining walls assure quiet evenings, and a queen sofa-sleeper allows for extra guests. There is ample ventilation and a ceiling fan to bring in the sea breeze. On cooler nights electronically controlled heating and electric blankets assure everyone gets a warm nights sleep.
This has been our home and we love it. The laughter of children, BBQs, birthdays, the 4th of July fireworks celebration with fires on the beach, the Hood-to-Coast Relay, volleyball tournaments, sandcastle contests and a hundred other celebrations have brought laughter and joy to this house. Since its construction in 1910, when a clam shell road linked Seaside with the Astoria train station, this house we call Heron's Rest has given rest, relaxation, comfort and joy to those who slept here.
From the picture windows you will enjoy hours of viewing as the wildlife passes on the river. Often herons are seen perched on the nearby trees or snags; eagles swoop in graceful curves as they fish for the days meal, and seals can be seen sneaking their way up river in search of salmon, crab or other local fish. We invite you to join those who have enjoyed this special place for your special occasions.

We enjoyed our stay although we thought we would have better weather, only one day of sun. We loved the riverside location and the girls lived to see all the birds. Great to be walking distance form the swings at the park, bike rental, beach and the village center. We made a nice trip to Astoria to see the sunday market and to make a trip with the historic trolley. We also visited Tillamook Cheese Factory (1 HR drive).

Today's is Keenan's 4th B-day, what a wonderful place to wake up to, after a delicious 10 days of intimate family time. Peace, veauty, the beach, arcade, fried clams, used bookstores, incredible beaches, putt-putt golf - WOW! We had a truly magical and healing time here. Did I mention Avery (7) want metal detecting on the beach? Thank you, Mahalo and much peace to you all. Thank you for sharing your wonderful healing home with us.

Just a short note to say thanks for the use of your very cozy, comfortable, and nicely located cottage. We really enjoyed our three night stay there - complete with the herons who appeared so regularly each day just off the water's edge. We sampled various restaurants, played Bacci Ball in your yard, walked the beach, and toured south through Cannon Beach and picked up some great fresh crab on the warf along the way. Thanks for making your cottage availble to us - perhaps another time, too, in the future. Warm regards, Bill, Beverley, and Jason

Dear Janet and Nick, We wanted to thank you for allowing us the use of the beach cabin. The weather was incredible! We had sunshine and warm temps the entire stay. Sue, Dave's mum, had never seen anything like Seaside, Cannon Beach or Heron's Rest and was delighted in every moment. Thank you again. Regards, Yvonne, Sirena and Dave
