This place was perfect for our small group. Our group converged on this little gem from Salt Lake City, Seattle and Portland. We were there in July and the weather was perfect. The description was perfect....it is definitely within an easy walk of Seaside shopping and restaurants. I would definitely recommend this property to others.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Heron's Nest. The location is ideal and the home was very clean and comfortable. The ability to sit out by the river and build nightly camp fires on the property was awesome. We would definately go back again.

We're back home after a wonderful stay at your cabin. Lots to do and see, especially right out the window--Loons, Buffleheads galore and of course, Herons! We all loved it, and though the weather didn't cooperate much, we still had a great time. You've got a great place--thanks for sharing it.

Relaxing Cottage Experience

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in March. The location is great, a short walk or bike ride to everything you'd want to see in Seaside. We especially loved the view of the river and sat every day on the swivel chairs to have our morning coffee, afternoon tea, evening wine and to read and relax. Unfortunately the weather was not great, but we didn't mind. The only downside is that the inside fireplace is not in use, as a warm fire would have been nice considering the cold, wet weather. We had bikes and rode everywhere. The beach in Seaside is fantastic and very close to the cottage. Be sure to drive down to Cannon Beach for the quaint shopping. We would highly recommend Maggie's on the Prom in Seaside for Happy Hour and dinner - the food was excellent. We would definately come back here again.

Traveled from Seattle with my family. My parents were visiting from New Jersey for their 38th wedding anniversary. We had great weather (slightly chilly) and caught a large crab. Undisclosed Street Construction made it less than relaxing

The cabin and location are nice, but the street in front of the house was being repaved while we were there. The construction work went on all week in front of the cabin. We were woken up every morning starting around 7, 7:30 with either the beep beep beep of trucks backing up, or the house shaking as the big trucks or giant rollers go by. One day when the roller was working the house was shaking every couple of minutes all day long. I twisted my ankle on the first night while walking down the partially "graded" road. They had the driveway closed for the last 48 hours while they poured concrete. We've had to park on the side streets a block away. The information that construction was happening on the street should have been disclosed before we rented the cabin so we could make the informed decision of whether this was a place we wanted to spend our precious week of vacation together. An email to the owner sent during the week we were there about the issue went unanswered. Since the owner does not believe in full disclosure, let the renter beware.

Owner response:We deeply regret any inconvenience caused guests at Heron's Rest Cabin by the road work done on Holladay Drive this summer. We sent out several notices to renters and to the best of our knowledge, inconvenience caused by the road work was minimized and work was completed during the week of August 22. Holladay Drive now has new paving and sidewalks. It is everyone's hope that the peace and tranquility of Heron's Rest will remain from now on.

We have had a great time at Heron's Rest. We loved the river view and the peaceful surroundings. 3 of our 6 grandchildren came and went, both daughters and one son-in-law. Everyone enjoyed it. We have never stayed in a 99 year old bungalow before. This was just right. We are ready to move on in! It was warm and mostly sunny each day. A week passes to quickly here in this quiet and fascinating part of the Oregon coast. W ehad one perfectly delightful day of weather yesterday! But even the rainy days were enjoyable. The grand kids (ages 14 and 16) had fun with us, even though we are old. We did the tourist things (two surrey rentals) and the camping things (fires and s'mores), and relaxed a bunch. This morning at about 6:30 the water was still and as it became lighter the reflections were amazing. I took a photo of a lone heron and his reflection - perfect end to a great vacation at Heron's Rest. Thank you, Sandy and Richard B.

We enjoyed our stay although we thought we would have better weather, only one day of sun. We loved the riverside location and the girls lived to see all the birds. Great to be walking distance form the swings at the park, bike rental, beach and the village center. We made a nice trip to Astoria to see the sunday market and to make a trip with the historic trolley. We also visited Tillamook Cheese Factory (1 HR drive).

Today's is Keenan's 4th B-day, what a wonderful place to wake up to, after a delicious 10 days of intimate family time. Peace, veauty, the beach, arcade, fried clams, used bookstores, incredible beaches, putt-putt golf - WOW! We had a truly magical and healing time here. Just a short note to say thanks for the use of your very cozy, comfortable, and nicely located cottage. We really enjoyed our three night stay there - complete with the herons who appeared so regularly each day just off the water's edge. We sampled various restaurants, played Bacci Ball in your yard, walked the beach, and toured south through Cannon Beach and picked up some great fresh crab on the warf along the way.
