Location: Riberac, Aquitaine, France, Europe (The Chateau is in village called Celles 45 min from Bergerac)
Accommodations: Chateau, 7 Bedrooms + Attached Unit, 7.5 Baths (Sleeps 14)
Chateau La Cellete is a unique and exquisite property built in the 15th century and renovated to it's current state by a French beaux arts architect and an American interior designer. Though they were quite deliberate in keeping many of the old features, it has every modern amenity, including satellite TV, broadband, WiFi and more.
It is located in the charming village of Celles, 45 minutes from Bergerac, with it's own boulangerie where you can get your daily croissants and pain au chocolate as well as delicious bread baked twice a day for freshness. There is a 14th century church on one side of the Chateau and a 2 acre park on the other side which belongs to the Chateau. It is surrounded by beautiful stone walls, and has a new circular driveway with electric gates.
Inside, the spiral stone staircase was brought back to it's original beauty and leads to 3 of the 6 bedrooms. The first bedroom faces a courtyard where you will see beautiful hydrangeas in pink and white. You will also see a very old, large pear tree where you can pick the pears and enjoy eating them fresh from the tree or make a perfect pear tart for your afternoon tea.
There is also a table and chairs in this courtyard where you can enjoy your morning coffee. The very large master bedroom is in this wing with a queen size bed as well as a day bed for reading before you take a nap. There is a TV, computer set-up, printer, bathroom with free standing footed tub as well as a shower room with a bidet and toilet.
The tower bedroom is above and needs to be seen to be believed. The original old wooden beams with their wooden nails are on the ceiling and side walls. Of course, there is a shower room as well. There are also three bedrooms in the other tower; all in perfect condition and some with their original floors completely restored.
This house lacks for nothing and all the owner's conveniences are here for your pleasure. Just imagine dining where generations of people have dined before you. You will, as they did, enjoy the foie gras, duck, cheese, wine and fresh fruits and vegetables which make the Perigord famous. On Friday there is a local market where you will find the freshest and the best of home grown produce as well as household items from this area.
There are many cafes and bars close by to enjoy some time with the local French people.
