What a Great Weekend

This was a fantastic getaway for a friend from my college days and I. 5 hours from Chicago, 6 1/2 from Baltimore - perfect meeting point! Beach is a short walk away, I brought my dog and he had a blast! Great restaurant - Berardi's (try the noodles, kielbasa, and cabbage - made me happy in my Polish heritage place (my stomach!)) nearby. Cleveland is a 45-50 minute drive, so you can enjoy the Rock'N'Roll Hall of Fame, and come back to enjoy a beach walk at night. Place is well-decorated, with a European style bathroom, breakfast bar and kitchen, as well as some nice leather furniture that was great for watching NCAA tournament games. This area is yet another hidden gem that I will look forward to returning to, hopefully soon. Barbara and her family are great hosts, and you will not be disappointed!

Winter getaway

This house is very nice and clean also has a great shower. We enjoyed our weekend getaway, close to shopping and dining. The owner and her mother are very nice and made everything easy and enjoyable. We are planning to visit again in the summer, would recommend anyone to go stay here. I have 4 children and we had enough room to enjoy ourselfs unlike a hotel would have.

We had a wonderful time! The house was very clean and comfortable. We especially liked the lovely bathroom. Short walk to a really nice private beach area. Very charming neighbor. Everyone was so friendly. Loved that it was so dog friendly too.

This house was absolutely perfect for a family...plenty of space, very clean, and equipped with all the needed amenities. We had two adults and three young boys (ages 3, 5, and 7) and there was plenty of room for everyone to stretch out, play, and relax. The beach was just steps down the private street, so it was an easy walk for kids with lots of beach toys. We had a great time. I would highly recommend this property for a nice getaway. Barbara (property owner) was also a pleasure to work with and very responsive. Oh, and thanks for the welcome note and candy upon arrival!

Accommodations were great! We were looking for a nice, quiet girls getaway and this was perfect. Very close to the beach; the rental house was cute and exactly as described. My grandma loved that she could bring her little dog. I would definitely recomend this property to anyone looking for a great lake getaway!! Thank you!!! :)

Cosy rental, near beach!

We stayed 3 days last August. This cottage is a short drive to Cedar Point and a very short walk to a neaby sandy beach. Clean, comfortable and spacious enough for all of us. Loved the ceiling shower, the screened back porch, and the neighbourhood!! The free WiFi was very convenient. Would definitely return!!

Another Great Week in Huron

Having rented from Barbara for several summers, it's hard not to be biased toward this property in Old Homestead and its owner. First, if travelers are not familiar with Huron, it's a quaint boating community in the summer. It is uncongested but close to the congestion (Cedar Point, access points to the islands, etc.). Old Homestead offers one of the best beaches in the area, and this one is accessible only to home owners and their weekly guests. The home is always clean, equipped (even with chocolate as a welcome touch), and continually upgraded. This year we were impressed with the addition of a patio, which provided a nice shady sitting area. The property is dog friendly but you would not know that it is regulary occupied by a variety of dogs during the summer. Good renters, many with dogs including our family, are attracted to Barbara's rental home. Needless to say, this summer rental is highly recommended!

50th Anniversary Celebration in Huron

So nice to relax in our home community with family and friends in celebrating our anniversary. The cottage was comfortable and in a quiet neighborhood. Many walks around the area and to the beach were a plus.

This a great little cottage as advertised. Easy walk to the lake, quiet, clean and very cute. Nice remodeled bathroom. Screened porch, with outdoor seating. Very nice.

Lovely place, larger than it seems in pictures. Nice and clean! We had a slight issue and they were there to fix it immediately. WiFi was a huge hit with my son and husband. Many fresh veggies/farm stands to choose from. Safe and friendly neighborhood. Would definately stay again.

There are any number of positives to cite about this house in Old Homestead. Having stayed in the house for several years now, what is most noteworthy is the responsiveness of the owner. She truly wants feedback from her weekly tenants and acts on that feedback. And unlike a lot of investor owners, each year it's obvious that she continues to make enhancements to the property. This year we were very pleased to see the completely renovated full bath. Old Homestead is a preferred location for a weekly rental in Huron, and this property is among the best. Highly recommended.

Family Getaway

I have rented this home twice now and my family and I just love it. The home is clean and cozy and there is plenty of room for the kids to spread out. It is just a short walk to the beach. The owner of the property is courteous and always responds quickly to any questions I have. Cedar Point is only a ten minute drive, we love to spend the day at the beach and then head over to Cedar Point in the evening. I would definitely recommend this home!

We've stayed in several Old Homestead summer rentals and this one is by far the best among the more reasonably priced properties. We plan to rent it again in 07.
