A wonderful cozy cabin on Green Lake. Mary and Steve have done a great job in making sure that you have all of the amenities needed to have an enjoyable vacation. The cabin is very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped to prepare meals. The screened in porch is a great place to hang out in the morning and have coffee or spend a quiet evening listening to the loons. It was great to have a washer and dryer for all of the added beach towels. The owners called twice during our stay to make sure that we had everything that we need to be comfortable. On the drive in to the cabin we saw wild turkeys, a rabbit, a deer and a small bear cub! An amazing vaction on wonderful Green Lake.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed at the Blue Heron for a week this August and absolutely loved it! We have rented several places on Green Lake over the years, and certainly had the best experience with Mary and Steve -- they are so friendly and have thought of absolutely everything that one could need or want while vacationing on the lake. This is a great place to take kids, since the cabin is quiet and a bit secluded, so you don't have to worry about being kind of loud. It's also a great place to bring a canoe or boat, since the fishing is terrific. We saw all kinds of cool wildlife (most spectacularly an owl), and very much enjoyed morning runs along the trails and day adventures into Acadia. Our dog also had a great time and terrifically appreciated the warm welcome. Thanks so much Mary and Steve, we are vary greatful to you both!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

This was the first time since 1992 that I have been back on Green Lake. My wife and I have vacationed in Maine many times but it was so great to be back on Green Lake we had a wonderful week's vacation. This was our first time staying at Blue Heron Cabin and we enjoyed ourselves so much that we are already planning next year's vacation and staying for 2 weeks as we found that 1 week was not enough. The cabin was very clean and the White's were wonderful to communicate with. We spent many afternoons' relaxing, reading on the hammock, the fishing was great and gave us the opportunity to visit old friends around the lake. Of course we made our annual trip to Trenton Bridge for the best lobsters in Maine. Steve and Mary your cabin is outstanding. Thanks for a wonderful vacation.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+.

This is a fabulous little cabin set in a pristine environment. The woods are so peaceful at night, the frogs and loons calling from the lake are so amazing to listen to from the screened porch. The lake setting is convenient and easy for kayak and canoe launches and the fishing was great - our family caught several fish right around the cove and my husband caught a huge bass that was a record for him. There are tons of books at the cabin and our family played chess almost every night. The cabin was clean and stocked very well. There was nothing we had to do without. We could tell a lot of thought and love was put into the construction of this cabin by the owners. We drove to Acadia (about 30 minutes) 3 days and visited Bar Harbor. We also drove to Lubec and saw West Quoddy Head Lighthouse (and some unexpected whales!) but that was a significantly longer trip at about 100 miles. Overall there was lots to do at the cabin and around the cabin within a 30 minute drive. We decided before we even left that we will be back because one week was not enough, I'm not sure one month would be enough to take it all in! On a scale of 1-10 the owners and their cabin get a 15!!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

After 30 years away from Green Lake I had to return to see how its changed. To my great surprise it seemed time had stod still. I found this cabin on this website and was so excited to see a genuine Log cabin to stay at. Its was set in the woods and was so quiet and peaceful. The accomadations were excellent. It was clean and had everything you would need for a restful vacation. Fishing was the best! We spent almost the whole vacation on the screened porch reading, playing cards, painting and my son played his guitar while we listened.I cannot not imagine a better place then this to stay at. We will be back this year! Thank you Steve and Mary for allowing us to enjoy your little cabin in the woods!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We stayed at the cabin in 2005. The facilities were ample and comfortable. The Whites did a phenomenal job creating this space. The location was remote for both good and ill.Groceries were difficult-so bring some along, but being at the end of the road was great because no one else was there. Woods roads start behind cabin and go out for miles in several directions. We discovered some small ponds off the dirt roads that were unique with wild berries to eat.We had no ATV disturbance, but a couple of times carelesss folk tried to negotiate the rocky cove with jet-skis. We could have done without them. There are cool, out of the way spots like the "rock slide" and back ways to small villages. We enjoyed the stay, with more time we could have done more exploring. There are good bass off the island rocks across from the cabin. EnjoyRecommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

The owners were wonderful to correspond with and rent from. The cabin was absolutely charming. It was also very clean and well-equipped. The setting on gorgeous Green Lake is spectacular and very private. Highlights were coffee on the dock and lobsters on the screened porch. Day trips to Bar Harbor, Acadia and Winter Harbor were also easy and very memorable. We would highly recommend the cabin.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We've been staying at Blue Heron Cabin for the past few years and can't wait for our next visit this summer. We enjoy kayaking on Green Lake, playing with our dogs in the water, and relaxing on the screened in porch. We bring our mountain bikes and either trek up and down the dirt road to the cabin, or head to Acadia National Park for a day of hiking and biking. After some great food and shopping in Bar Harbor, we head back to our little retreat for an evening paddle on the lake. We now book two weeks at the cabin. One is never enough! The cabin is equipped with all the amenities we need for a great vacation. While there is a TV and a DVD player, we never use them. In our "down" time, a good book serves us well. The cabin is in a secluded cove on the lake, so we don't get the noisy boat traffic. A dawn paddle on the lake affords us beautiful views of the morning mist and visits by loons and the occasional beaver siting. As a photographer, I am always looking for the perfect loon shot, and haven't been disappointed. Sometimes they pop up too close to the kayak! We highly recommend Blue Heron Cabin for your getaway. You won't be disappointed.Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Our stay at the newly-built cabin was above all relaxing. Our conversations with the owners were always pleasant and the cabin and the location were everything that was described to us. We passed our time fishing, playing board games in the screened porch, watching movies, and sunbathing. Pets are allowed so they get to enjoy the summer fun too! Acadia is a must-see. We would absolutely recommend this spot to anyone who enjoys nature and peace and quiet. The cabin is spotless and has every imaginable amenity/necessity you could want.
