Location: Divide, South Central, Colorado, USA (100 mi. to Denver., 31 mi. to Colorado Springs,)

Accommodations:  Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath (Sleeps 4-5)

Located just a few short miles from such attractions as CRIPPLE CREEK, MANITOU SPRINGS, the GARDEN OF THE GODS, the AIR FORCE ACADEMY, and several other wonderful things to do, you will find our little mountain home. We call it Bearhaven and standing at the door to greet you will be one of our collection of chain saw carved bears holding a welcome sign.

The home is nestled snug in the side of a hill facing Pike's Peak and looking down at a valley where there are many deer and elk. There is a spotter scope and binoculars for our guests to enjoy the wildlife. We are so secluded that man-made lights do not get in the way of starlight! There is a telescope for viewing the Milky Way, which is breathtaking from the patio at night.

The master bedroom has a TV and there is a TV with a built-in VCR and DVD player in the living room. Basic cable is provided. The fully-equipped kitchen has a microwave as well as a dishwasher. The washer and dryer is behind louvered doors in the kitchen.

We are located 31 miles from Colorado Springs, 100 miles from Denver, 135 miles from Aspen, and only 24 miles from Cripple Creek. In Cripple Creek you will find many casinos if you want to try your luck at the machines or tables. Down the road toward Colorado Springs, you will find Manitou Springs with many wonderful shops. Don't forget the Cave of the Winds.

This is a delightful spot for a weekend or a week. Walk the woods or walk the local shops. Relax and enjoy the mountains with BEARHAVEN as your home base!

Oh, by the way, we call the cabin Bearhaven because of our collection of bear things, NOT because of bears that roam close to the cabin. We don't want you to be afraid to chance a stay!!

    • We stayed in the cabin mid-June this year. It was everything advertised. Private, pristine, and wonderful. Pat was terrific to rent from - especially, since it was our first experience to rent from an individual. If you enjoy wildlife and want a great place to get away, this is the spot. Many of the tourist spots and activities are also well within driving distance(Cripple Creek, Colorado Springs, Royal Gorge). I would suggest finding some of the two lane highways if travelling to these destinations, as the scenery is breathtaking. Our sons really enjoyed the fishing ponds - I think it may be impossible not to catch fish here. A great rental destination.

    • Dear Jim, Pat, and Mike, Thank you so much for allowing us the opportunity to stay at your wonderful, cozy, immaculate cabin. We had such a relaxing, enjoyable time that we didn't want to return to the city. The scenery was endearing and the wildlife lovely. The ambiance of your cabin is remarkable; it's obvious a lot of thought went into its planning. We will recommend your cabin to all of our friends who might be looking for a unique, restful experience. Sincerely, David, Maria, and Sasha

      Homeowner Response:

    • We had a wonderful time. We saw snow the first day, soaked in the hot tub and caught a spectacular view of the Milky Way. I throughly enjoyed the fishing at the stocked private lakes. Pat and Jim were like family... very comfortable to be around. It was truly and exceptional vacation for us. Thanks so much.

      Homeowner Response:
We were so fortunate to have this couple as guests. They left us a lovely thank you card. It was nice to talk with the Fouts and we certainly hope to see them again!

    • We stayed there in July of this year. It was very quiet with wonderful views. This home was immaculate with every convenience you could possibly need. Patricia Thatcher was an absolute pleasure to rent from. I fished on the private ponds and had a great time. It was close to a lot of places to go to; but if you want to get away to somewhere that is private and quiet; this is the place. All of this, and the hot tub wasn't even there yet. Thank you to the Thatchers' Harvey and Patricia Laven

      Homeowner Response:
What a nice couple! We were honored to have the Laven's stay with us on Patricia's birthday. A big thank you to them for being considerate guests and leaving our mountain home in wonderful shape.

    • We had a wonderful week at Bearhaven in early June. The views of Pike's Peak and the nearby forest are terrific, and the seclusion was exactly what we were hoping for. We really enjoyed the patio and the chiminea, as well as the wood stove inside the cabin, and privately viewing stars in the night sky. Within about a 15 minute drive there was a grocery store. About 20 minutes away, there was great hiking at Mueller State Park, a little further, canoeing at Eleven Mile Reservoir. Our stay was entirely relaxing. The decor of the cabin is warm, welcoming and tasteful. We enthusiastically recommend Bearhaven!

      Homeowner Response:
Thanks so much for this wonderful comment! This lovely couple left our mountain home in pristine condition after their stay. I wish there was some way I could tell you their name so I could recommend them to others who rent their homes through VRBO.
