Perfect Hawaiian vacation

Just wanted everyone to know what a fabulous condo this was. It is exactly as pictured. We are two retired couples. We never used the 3rd bedroom, but it would have been perfect for grandchildren. The condo is decorated with unique and beautiful items that add to the Hawaiian experience. We were there for 12 days and only ate out one time, mainly because the kitchen and the patio area were so well designed. We broke into two "groups" when we landed at the airport. One of the couples went to Costco and the other to Safeway before arriving at the condo. We ate and drank in fine style. There is a nice supermarket about 15 minutes away at another resort area. We restocked there. If you are interesting in golfing, this is the perfect location. We golfed at Hapuna and Mauna Kea 5 times. We got a discount golf card called the "Golf Hawaii Card" (google it) which made these two courses actually affordable. This condo is a 5 minute drive from either course. With the included "activity pass" we were allowed to use the beaches and facilities at the Hapuna and Mauna Kea resorts. The beaches were safe with just the right strength of waves to make it fun. The owner and owner's representatives on the island were always immediate with any assistance we needed which was minimal. The location of the condo is also perfect in that it is a one-minute walk to the complex's activity center - a gym and lovely pool and hot tub. An added bonus was that our plane wasn't due to fly us out until late evening, and we were expected to check out of the condo mid-morning. We were able to get in another golf game and then go to the activity center and shower, change, and be ready for our flight. Very, very special......the shower is outdoors! Surrounded with lava rock and open to the sky, the shower is entered from the ladies' room in the activity center. What a great way to end a fabulous vacation.

Wai'ula'ula has quickly become our home away from home! We have been coming here for Thanksgiving and Christmas for 4 years now and have had an amazing experience every time. The condo is set up perfectly for multi-generational trips. Our parents and children lived comfortably together for 10 days in this spacious home! We love having access to a great kitchen and BBQ when we just want to stay in for the night, watch a movie and relax. The work out room, pool and hot tub are fantastic and just a short walk away. It's a 2 minute drive to our favorite beach in the world! The Mauna Kea hotel not only has a great beach, but also lovely restaurants and convenient shopping. Everything about this place is perfection to us!

Our stay at the Mauna Kea condo was fabulous! The Condo was beautiful, clean, comfortable and had everything we needed! Wonderful views and access at the the Hapuna Beach and Mauna Kea resorts was icing on the cake! Our husbands played golf at both resorts and enjoyed both. The Hapuna pool was lovely and we really enjoyed the Mauna Kea beach. We will definitely be back!

Please do not rent this condo if you are difficult or do not take good care of things. You truly are a guest in a gracious home with a thoughtful hostess. Donna was wonderful to work with and even helped us rent the upstairs condo since there were eleven in our family group, 6 adults and children from 16 to 6. Everything is in wonderful condition and as listed.This condo has very comfortable beds and we all slept well. We always travel light but when I saw all the closest space and hangers I was sorry I did not bring more. We had six cooks (think the foodie family) and we all helped and found there was everything we needed to fix our meals. The vegetable stand in the parking lot of the Blue Dragon had very good tomatoes, papayas and green beans- plus there were wonderful tropical flowers for not very much. On Fridays there is a stand there that has wonderful Huli chicken (go near noon). There is also a place where you can buy fish from the locals on the road to Hawi across from the shave ice stand. We enjoyed the Mauna Kea Laua, Bamboo, Blue Dragon -liked grocery shopping in Waimea, farmers market in Hilo.Having the pass to use the pools and beaches was a game changing advantage with the children. The Hapuna Prince has a larger pool and better waves and snorkeling. There were lots of turtles swimming around us which was great fun The condo complex gym is terrific and all the type A's in our group were there every morning. If you have never worked out at a gym this is a lovely place to start. The pool is very pretty and open until 10pm if you want to have an evening swim. We liked having a garage to park our car in out of the sun, and there is a treasure chest of snorkeling equipment, picnic gear and such in the garage. The best part for us was that it was very quiet and peaceful, lots of birds singing, flowers blooming, so everyone relaxed and had the aloha spirit. We had our coffee and breakfast out on the terrace, and in the evening we were back outside at the big table just enjoying being there in the warm air and watching the sun set in the ocean. The weather was perfect everyday.This location is also very central for taking trips in the middle of the day when you need to be out of the sun.This condo was wonderful and the only negative was that we had signed up for only one week because none of us wanted to leave.

Fantastic First Trip to the Big Island

Our family of four (inc. teen boys 12/15) along with another couple traveled to the Big Island to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We stayed for 10 days and we knew we wanted to be near great beaches, restaurants, shopping, great golfing and spas. It was very important for us to have a lanai with a grill, but the added sunsets each night were stunning. We absolutely loved our time at this condo. Mauna Kea beach was our favorite although my sons loved snorkeling at Hapuna Beach. Both are so conveniently located to the condo and walking to the amenity center became a nightly treat at the pool and jacuzzi. The condo is very well equipped with all the things you need and we definitely over shopped at Costco. The photos reflect exactly what you see when you walk in. Our boys LOVED their room and chilling out after a full day of activities. The beds were all so comfortable and the bathrooms very high end. It was easy to settle in like home while we were there and we would absolutely come back. The spa at the Mauna Kea was very good and we spa a lot. We even did the luau at the Mauna Kea and my boys loved the old Hawaiian legends they told. The food was very good and plentiful. After living in Texas for the past 17 years, I loved the beach time the most. The sand at the beaches is so powder like. There is so much to do on the island we had to plan beach down days too. Donna and her sister were so helpful and easy to reach both prior to the trip and while we were there. We all fell in love with this island and can't wait to make it a regular family vacation spot. We ziplined, a lot of golf, boat tours to see the lava tubes, helicopter trip (which is the only way to see lava at this time), enjoyed deep sea fishing and snorkeled in Capt. Cook's Cove. Aloha!

We just wanted to thank you for the outstanding month we have had in paradise. Your condo is wonderful. We loved your location and views of the ocean and harbor. Many evenings we cooked and ate on your lanai watching the amazing sunsets--what could be better. This is our seventh trip to the Big Island but our first trip to really enjoy and explore North Kohala, Waimae and Kona. Our children agreed that we must come back here on our next trip to the islands and we promise to do just that. Thank you so much for all your help with our time here.

Our family just returned from your gorgeous home and outstanding beaches of Mauna Kea and Hapuna Beach. What an amazing trip! We are aching to go back already. The house was beautiful in every way. Plenty of space for 4 adults and 2 teens and 2 children. The beds were comfortable, linens were perfect. Plenty of hot water to go around. It truly was a home away from home. With a large family, we ate in almost everyday and there was plenty of pantry space and room to cook. Loved the kitchen! Gas burners and dual dishwasher were a plus! The beaches were close, beautiful and not crowded at all. And having been to other islands, Mauna Kea was one of the best beaches we have visited. The snorkeling was fabulous. We saw turtles, sting rays and even squid, a rare treat. The fish are amazingly beautiful and water was clear. The weather was perfect! Our kids had a blast. Grandma and Grampa boogie boarded for the first time and said it was the best vacation they have ever had. We had a couple of minor problems but Donna and Eileen attended to them quickly and efficiently. We couldn't have asked for a better vacation. If we come back to the Big Island, we will definately stay here again. Mahalo!!

Luxurious Settings!

From the moment we arrived, we delighted in languishing in the luxurious settings. Everything was immaculate and operated as new. The lanai area was expansive and lent itself perfectly for pleasant dinners while discussing the next day’s plans. We found this beauty of a property to literally gobble up our party of five as there was so much space including three large, extremely comfortable bedrooms. Our two teenage daughters fell in love with the “surf room “and at times my husband and I thought we would never get them back to Canada. My mother has traveled extensively for her business, to many fine establishments over the years and she was very impressed when we walked through the door and from then on. I have to tell you, she loved the place, the setting and told me many times “what a great choice I had made! “! We all spent a decent amount of time at the excellent amenity center, working out and swimming in the lovely infinity pool. It was very handy to the condo which meant the girls could head up there after dinner while the rest of us sat outside listening to the peaceful night sounds. The entire Mauna Kea resort area is enveloped with a great sense of security which is a really nice change to what one experiences in other areas. We enjoyed spending time on (from what the locals told us) the two finest beaches on the big island. We found the area great and very peaceful for morning walks and runs along the grassy sides of the roads following the golf course. Everyone we came across while utilizing any of the many, many amenities at Hapuna beach and Mauna Kea hotels, were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We hope to stay again one day and highly recommend this property!

Golfing, shopping, & relaxing!

The condo was awesome. Wonderful layout, decor & location/view. Proximity to amenity facility was great – we used the pool & hot tub daily (probably should have used the fitness center, oh well, can work out now that we’re home). Loved the infinity pool. We did the tourist things in the first week (drove around the island, saw the volcano, drove to Hawi etc.), but always ended up in the infinity pool at the end of the day. The guys golfed Hapuna course. Girls went shopping. Loved both hotel beaches & pools (my favorite was Hapuna pool). It was nice that we didn’t have to take towels to either (therefore didn’t have to wash 6 beach towels each day). Condo was better equipped than any I have rented before. Beds were very comfortable. In summary, we had wonderful holiday and really enjoyed staying in your condo. We look forward to returning and would highly recommend to our friends.

Everything was absolutely wonderful. Donna (the owner) was extremely helpful both before and during our stay. The gourmet kitchen was fully equipped for all of our culinary needs. The property was well maintained and clean. We took full advantage of the home's proximity to the amenity center. I would highly recommend this property.

Sometimes you see a listing and it seems too good to be true...this Wai'ula'ula condo far exceeded our expectations! Beautiful views of the coast and volcanoes, well-stocked kitchen, stylish tropical common rooms, and large comfortable bedrooms...we felt at home shortly after we walked in the front door. It was a great place to celebrate Thanksgiving with our grown children and having access to the Mauna Kea beach and hotel was awesome! We used the boogie boards there and at Hapuna, made frequent use of the Amenity Center on site (45 second walk from the condo), and had the best burgers on the Island at Village Burgers in Waimea. Donna was the best owner I have dealt with on VRBO and the descriptions and experience were accurate to her listing...be sure to watch the virtual tour for a representative idea of what is in store for you.

We stayed at your property for 7 nights. The place was clean, comfortable, well-equipped, nicely decorated and had plenty of room for 2 couples, grandma and the kids. We have always stayed at Hapuna and it will be hard to return to the resorts. Having access to both properties was wonderful. Working with Donna was great. No detail was missed. We had a wonderful stay there and look forward to our next visit.

We just returned a few weeks ago from our stay here, and it was our best vacation ever. This was our 11th trip to Hawaii and we have stayed in many locations on the Big Island including Kumalani. This condo has everything you need and more. We loved the grill and cooked on it almost every night. The extra ice maker on the Lanai was great for filling the cooler. The grounds are gorgeous and we enjoyed running through the area over to the Prince gym. We saw wild goats almost everyday on the golf course on the way to the Prince gym. Loved the amenity cards and being able to use the resorts without having to stay in a hotel room. We also enjoyed dining at Mantas restaurant. We saw manta rays 3 times at night at the mauna kea resort. Donna is a pleasure to book with and you will not be dissapointed. She even emailed us after our arrival to make sure everything was ok. Such great personal service

Amazing Family Vacation!

My family and I just returned from a week in this property on the big island. We were all first time users of VRBO and a little bit nervous about what to expect, but this experience has made me a committed, even fervent believer in VRBO. Or maybe it's just Donna and her amazing condo! The condo is simply 5 stars. The location is stellar, the interior is spacious and the furnishings are luxurious and comfortable. The amenity center next door could not be more modern and impressive with a tranquil infinity-edge pool and the latest fitness machines. The use of the two nearby hotels was perfect since you get full access to the best beach on the island and the other hotel amenities. The condo has it all -- high end applicances and all of the extra fittings you could dream up, including boogie boards, snorkle sets, coolers, etc. Donna was especially kind to provide a play yard and high chair. I don't think you'll find a more responsive, helpful and patient owner than Donna. Thanks for a 5 star family stay in paradise!

Donna, I cannot express how much we enjoyed staying at your home. The moment we walked in,we all said,"WOW." I really loved the way you have it decorated, the details are amazing. Sometimes, it is hard to tell what a place really looks like until you arrive. Pictures do not do your home justice. It is an incredible place and we feel so lucky that you shared it with us. Staying in Kohala made me realize what a great location it is, as well. The shuttle rides make the beach life so simple (not to mention no sand in the rental). Home away from home

My husband and I, along with 2 other couples in our 30's just returned from a week stay at the Mauna Kea Condo and we all had an amazing time. Upon our arrival, we coincidentally ran into one of the owners, and were blown away with her hospitallity, friendliness and over all willing to make our stay as memorable as possible. Thank you Eileen!!!! We picked this location to be near a wedding we were all attending at the Hapuna Prince and our choice was perfect. The location of the property is a quick, I mean quick, drive from the Hapuna Prince Resort and Mauna Kea Hotel. While we were staying we visited the Hapuna Pool and Mauna Kea Hotel pool frequently and when we left for the day at each hotel, we could grab a quick dinner and head right over to the adajacent ammentity center to use their pool / spa. Overall we loved our entire experience at the condo. It was immaculate, decorated beautifully, and well stocked with kitchen items (ie, party trays, appliances, perfect for families or couples). I would recommend this property to friends and relatives and our group is already planning a trip next year to celebrate their anniversary.

What a wonderful home with all the perfect amenities. Not only is the home beautiful, but in a gorgeous location. We rented the unit for a long awaited family vacation (4 adults, 3 year old and 10 month old). My expectations were pretty high given the feedback and photos listed on VRBO and the condo totally delivered. The place is well decorated, well located, has views of the ocean, excellently owned/managed. The hotel access cards give you all of the upside of staying at these beautiful hotels with none of the downside (namely ridiculous high rates and expensive food). Additionally, Donna was super helpful and professional in planning the stay. Not only was she always available for questions before our arrival, she has a renter's "bible" at the condo that will answer all of your questions from where you can buy gas & food to where the great restaurants are. I highly recommend renting from Donna and her sister and I plan on returning as often as I can. In short, this unit is an incredible value for your vacation dollar.

A fabulous vacation rental with exceptional hosts

My wife Barbara and I stayed in this beautiful condo the first week in March of this year. The setting overlooking the ocean with a backdrop of the mountains of the island made this a perfect romantic getaway! We were blown away by the beautiful furnishings and artwork in the condo and Donna & Eileen were the perfect hosts. They not only paid attention to the details of our late night arrival but also made sure that our intial morning in paradise was perfect with Kona coffee ready for brewing. The location was perfect (and the golf also) being a short drive from Kona and all of the touristy shops if you we wanted to sightsee or just stay home and bask in the sunshine of Hawaii. Barb and I would highly, highly recommend this condo for a family enjoying the island or a couple like us, looking for a quite romantic place to recharge our batteries.

For my husband's 60th birthday in January, Hawaii was the only choice! And although there are several listings on VRBO, look no further, this villa was absolutely the perfect choice. We had 2 other couples join us for the week and we all agree we would like to return again very soon! We enjoyed golf at Hapuna, the beach at Mauna Kea, the fitness room and pool and spa at the amenity center and maitais,fabulous wines and dinner out on the private lanai. Yes, we prepared our own meals every evening! We had made dinner reservations at several restaurants but cancelled all them because we had the view from the lanai and the guys loved the outdoor grill! The kitchen is fully equipped for meal prep for dinner parties! It was very difficult to leave this gorgeous villa in such a beautiful setting to return to the real world.

We just spent the week between Christmas and New Year's at this amazing condo. It's beautifully furnished ad comfortable for kids and adults. It's spotless and well organized and the owner went out of her way to make our stay perfect. Including offering to do a grocery shop for us so there was food available upon arrival. We had a great time!

Just returned from a week in paradise. We have stayed in other VRBOs and this is definitely the most beautiful. The owners are so gracious and made the whole process of renting so easy. Everything about this vacation home is an A+. It is beautifully decorated with amazing views and is equipped with everything you could need to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. We loved opening up the entire wall of windows in the living room and feeling the warm island breeze. The lanai is the place to be with the custom BBQ area,relaxed seating and forever views! The gorgeous amenity center is right up the street. My husband caught the football game on the big screen while we lounged by the pool. Having the amenities of the Mauna Kea while staying in this lovely and quiet home is the way to go. We will definitely be back.

This lovely, lovely place was the perfect spot to spend our week in Hawaii. The layout and views are great, the access/ammenities are perfect (so nice to just be able to roll down to the beautiful beaches every morning without a second thought!) and the condo is equipped with everything you'll need to cook meals. This is a beautifully designed "hawaiian" condo, so clean, and spacious! The pictures are a disservice. Believe all the comments since they are all true! This is a home away from home. Everything you need is here, from all the cooking/bbq tools to beach toys/boogie boards/books to read/games etc. It was our first time to the big Island and we had such a wonderful week (Oct), thanks to this condo and the resort amenity cards (Mauna Kea and Hapuna Beach). There is so much to do on the big island and this is a great place for families. The owner (Donna) is great to work with and very helpful! I would definitely come back again!

We spent 9 nights at this lovely condo at the end of August and had a wonderful time. The place had lovely furnishings and the kitchen incredibly well-stocked. We just returned from a weeks stay at this condo - it was hard to come home. The condo is beautiful and equipped with everything needed to make your stay complete. The Mauna Kea amenities were so accessible and everyone so friendly. The amenities at the condo complex are beautiful and very close to the condo. We didn't have to think about anything except having fun. We have stayed at the Mauna Lani and Hilton Wiakoloa on previous visits but I don't think we will ever stay at a hotel again - this condo is truly the way to go. We plan to return soon. It was wonderful!

We had an outstanding vacation for 11 days in July/August. The condo is beautiful and very spacious to relax in. The grounds were emmaculate and had an impressive gardener who was willing to share his gardening skills. We hope to return again as it was one of the best places we have stayed at. Better than any 6 star hotel!!!!

Lots of condos claim to be luxurious, but don't follow through. This one is the real thing. A condo anyone would love to live in. The floor plan is ideal for families. The kitchen (indoor and outdoor) is great for a home chef. The bedrooms and bathrooms are big and beautiful. The whole development is calm and peaceful, quiet as can be. And having access to the two resorts made it even more special. Oh, and I forgot about the gorgeous infinity pool and fitness center. This isn't a 5 star vacation spot. It's 6 star. As nice as any hotel chain or private home. Enjoy.

We just returned from a wonderful week in this lovely Mauna Kea condo! It is perfectly appointed with every amenity one could need, the furnishings are lovely, and having access to all the facilities at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel was fantastic. Our family hopes to return again very soon -- Mahalo Donna!

This condo at the Wai'ula'ula is very beautiful and clean. Loved the furnishings - very comfortable & stylish. Everything is well taken care of and fully stocked. Kitchen is great. Wonderful place to take your family including the kids. Thank you so much. Will be back again.

We just spent 8 nights at this well appointed condo. Many Hawaiian touches in the decor. This is a 5 star property! We enjoyed morning coffee on the lanai with the ocean breeze and the sun rising. Amenities were plentiful. The surf room is fun, perfect for kids. Three showers is very handy after a day at the beach. Easy use of the Mauna Kea and Hapuna facilities. We personally loved the Mauna Kea beach! The condo is well situated to the pool and workout area. Overall a fantastic stay. We hope to return. Lisa & Paul Hickey

Our family just returned from a two week stay in this glorious condo. We have been to Hawaii on 7 other occasions, but this one tops them all! This condo is extremely spacious, exquisitely decorated with attention to Hawaiian detail, and was loads of fun. Our three children loved it and it is very family friendly. The owner was gracious and helpful right down to assisting us with food for the morning after our late night arrival and also in providing us with all the amenities needed. Another outstanding aspect of this condo is that it is linked to the classy Mauna Kea Resort and the Hapuna Prince resort, so it is a mecca for families. We could use both pools, beaches, golf courses, tennis courts, kids camp etc. We highly recommend this condo and resort to others and will most definitely try to get back there next year. The Mauna Kea is our favorite beach in Hawaii!

Wow!! This was the most fantastic vacation we have ever had! The condo was perfect! There is nothing better than to wake up to hear the tropical winds blowing through the beautiful Palm trees outside the bedroom window and to see the amazing view. We enjoyed the beautiful Hapuna beach at the resort, while having the privacy of the condo. We loved every minute of it and can't wait to go back!

Wow! We had the best time. The condo looked exactly like the pictures. It is all sparkling and new. The Wolf stove and BBQ spoiled us, now we need to get them at home. The bathrooms were huge and luxurious with large bath tubs and showers. I have recommended the place to many friends already and we just got back last week!

Our family could not believe how beautiful this condo and resort are. The condo is brand new, so much room and is over the top decor and amenities. I shouldn't be commenting because I do not want to have a hard time renting it again, but I couldn't help but tell how wonderful is was!
