This cozy rustic cottage is on the South East coast, on a pristine miles long sandy beach once lined with the docks, fishing tugs, boat hoists and modest homes of the families that once lived here and the final off shore resting place of the wreck of the islands dredger barge the Finn McCool, hence the area name Barge Bay.
This cozy cottage is nestled under the shade of a ancient beach oak and is the idyllic spot to stroll the beach, build sand castles, skip rocks, collect driftwood, enjoy picnic’s and set around a glowing beach fire with your family and friends at days end.
The quaint fishermen’s style cottage tucked away in a very private setting is just 20 minutes from the village and a stroll to the soft sands and sea caves of Big Bay Park.
The cottage features a snug lake vista living room is a perfect retreat to snooze and enjoy the stack of summer beach books. Or gather on the deck for coffee and evening beverages while stirring up your favorite BBQ grill creation.

There are numerous arts and crafts and activities for children and young adults, shopping and lunch in nearby Bayfield or attend an unforgettable performance at the Great Chautauqua. Or kayak the many Bays surrounding the Island or hop a cruise boat and visit the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Park and historic lighthouses. Or just lie back in the hammock or lounge chairs on the beach and soak up the beauty and serenity of endless panoramic vistas of the sparkling blue waters of Lake Superior and if your lucky a shimmering moon rise. We had a great week-as usual,we just made ourselves at regardless of the weather because for us it's all about the LOCATION!We saw the full moon rise,had beach fires,good food,friends and family. We loved the new grill and hammock and new stove! It's hard to leave!See you next year.
