The title says it all. My husband and our friends needed an escape from the daily grind and a place to celebrate our 50th birthsdays together. Not only did this log cabin deliver, but it went above and beyond our expectations. There was plenty of space, plenty of activities and plenty of comfort and that was just inside the cabin. Outside, from the wineries gracing Pennsylvania's landscape to the majestic Finger Lakes in New York, sights and sounds were within a two and a half hour radius. I am speaking on behalf of my husband and seven friends when I say that we thoroughly enjoyed every single minute of our stay here.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The cabin is very nice although very musty when first entering. We suggest that it is aired out before guests arrive. A little mix up on the departure date - some of our guests were locked out of the cabin which is very ibnconvenient when a baby is involved. The last night of our stay we discovered we had additional guests - bats as in plural flying creatures. I am all for bats, good for farmers, the environment, eco-systems - just don't like sharing slepping quarters with them.Recommended for: Families with teenagers
Owner response: With a large 2 story real log cabin in the woods, bats are a possibility. They can squeeze through the tinniest spaces, sometimes created by log shrinkage or settling. Occasionally I have had a bat or 2, but never an infestation. They are basically harmless, have been the source of laughter so long as you are not scared of them, and in a way are part of the ambiance of the outdoor nature of the cabin. Twice since this spring I had a roofer try to determine the entrance point and close it off. Obviously the fix did not resolve the issue. So I just hired a structural bat specialist who guarantees his work to address this. OWNER

Our party ranged in age from 3 to 78 and we all enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. We had a few days of relaxing and then our small grandchildren for a long weekend. Even the rainy weather didn't stop us from enjoying the trails. We visited the Cheese Factory and brought back lots of cheese to enjoy. The cabin has a calming, back to nature feel with all the modern conveniences. Would definitely return to this sanctuary in the mountains. Thanks for a fabulous week.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The cabin and property is beautiful and is well stocked. It was a very relaxing week. We ended up grilling every night as the grill is very nice and we enjoyed the meats we purchased at the local butcher, Dotti Lou's. We especially enjoyed their chicken broccoli cheese sausage and their bacon. We also went to the Cheese Factory and ended up coming home with a lot of delicious cheeses to share with our family and friends along with the sausage from Dotti Lou's. Looking to going bacCk again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We had an incredibly relaxing time at your cabin! There was plenty of room for all 6 guys to relax. We spent the majority of our evenings sitting on the front porch, relaxing on the rockers. As night time came, we used the fire pit and burned a lot of wood!! Thanks for supplying such a large amount, i think we went through about half of it!! I was grilling steaks on the grill (excellent grill by the way!), whenI looked over into the woods and saw the bear!! I admit that I ran like a girl inside to get the others. When they came out, they were able to see him just sauntering down the hill. I can't think of a single thing I would change, thanks again!! I was looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway for a very long weekend. The weekend was my 6 month wedding anniversary -- but also the anniversary of my son's passing. After looking through many listings I found Maple Ridge. The owner was spot-on with his description & it delivered all it promised. I was looking for either long romantic walks through nature trails or long walks with alot of reflection on my son's life. I didn't know which it would be, as you just never know how or when the passing of a loved one will hit you. Maple Ridge was the perfect setting. I was so taken with the atmosphere, everything I had planned was changed. I had planned day trips to see various sites and attractions, I had planned a dinner or two out, etc. When we got there we just never left. I barbequed every night. We walked the trails, we enjoyed nature. We saw deer everyday, a tiny fawn, chipmunks, and birds that I needed to look up on the internet to name. We sat outside in rocking chairs each night and just talked. The owner has great tips but here's a couple more: 1- Bugs on trails are not an issue. Nature takes care of itself. I have much more problems sitting on my own porch on Long Island. 2- Buy food once you get there to stock the fridge. I bought everything in advance and used coolers because I didn't think the local grocery store would be well stocked. I pictured a tiny grocery store with limited selection for such a small town. The grocery store was as good as anything I've ever seen. 3- The property borders a beautiful steam/creek. Bring a couple umbrella chairs and a cooler as there is a little clearing to set-up and quietly watch the wildlife. 4- Have a couple of drinks before you shoot pool or play ping-pong in the loft. I was very rusty and it made me care less about losing my former skills ! ;) 5- Get a police grade flashlight. When you are sitting on the porch at night there is nothing but blackness all around. You can't see 15 feet beyond the porch. It is wonderfully peaceful but every once in awhile it is fun to scan the forest. 6- If you like the stars, bring your telescope there is a huge clearing about 100 feet from the house where you can set-up and watch the stars/planets. As far as compliments - It was obvious to me that the owner had just cleared 15+ trees from the trails - a huge task, but totally indicative of the level of pride he takes in his rental property. Suggestion - a small groomed area at the lower clearing - near the bench.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

It is difficult to explain this incredible log home. It is tucked deep into the woods, and yet easy to find on well maintained country roads. There are so many wonderful extras, such as the pool table and ping pong table and satellite television. Our favorite part was sitting in the rocking chairs outside watching the fire burn. The mornings are beautiful as well, with all kinds of wild life. The owners and the managers are friendly and accomodating. We hope to make it an annual event.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I had our honeymoon at this wonderful, peaceful, and secluded cabin. It was the best vacation I ever had. I would definitely recommend it to anybody. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to possibly visiting again. I would even recommend this to a family. It is no nice and relaxing and even though it is secluded, there are things to do that is not a long drive. Thank you Bob again for such a memorable and awesome honeymoon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Me and my five buddies from college/hometown stayed here over Columbus Day Weekend for our 20th annual fall get-together. This by far was the best ever. The cabin was a perfect venue...quiet, secluded and serene setting...tall trees, beautiful fall foliage, friendly neighbors (who let us fish in their private pond) but gave us space, bucolic town and countryside...plentiful firewood and great firepit for bonfires or cooking. Comfortable accomodations, clean and bright lodging easily held our group, and could have easily slept anothter 4-5. Well-appointed kitchen, satellite TV to watch the ballgames, pool table for at-home fun, and hot tub to soak the bones after days hiking or mountain biking the trails. Owner responsive and easy to work with. Definitely plan to return again to this gem! A great value!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

We stayed here over the 4th of July, and were very pleased to find that the description on the website was accurate. The house is set way back in the woods, with a beautiful cabin decor. It was nice to rent a home and only have to bring in food, everything else, and I do mean everything, was included, towels, linens, pots, pans, detergent, it was a pleasure. We stayed here with several friends, four adults, and three children, plenty of room for everyone. We all would recommend Maple Ridge to anyone, and would also stay again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

What a place! The cabin was everything we'd hoped for, and more. Beautiful craftsmanship throughout, and all the modern conveniences you'd want. Lovely paths through the woods for walking. Great firewood set up, inside and out. We even saw a bear walking around the cabin on our last morning there! The loft upstairs is huge, and a great benefit to keep kids busy playing! In effect, nothing was missing. And town is just five miles away, with anything you might need. Our stay was wonderful, and we can't wait to come back. Thank you Bob, and thanks to the Bennetts, too. We just can't say enough about Maple Ridge.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

My friends and I had a great time staying at your cabin. I browsed through some of your books and noticed that you had planted some trees and shrubs specifically to attract deer. It seems to be working as I almost stepped on a fawn in your field. It was unharmed but it squawked in protest and ran away...we also had a large black guest on our last day there but I'll let one of my friends relate that story...Owner response: Dave, Rich and their party were fortunate to view a black bear that was moving through the area and took some great pictures. At one point almost appearing to pose at a stump just outside the cabin.

Maple Ridge, the woodland retreat with the conveniences of home. We had a great stay, very relaxing. Both the Bennett's and Ecker's worked hard to make sure our visit was as advertised. If peace and quiet is what you're looking for, you'll find it at Maple Ridge.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Our stay at Maple Ridge was wonderful. The cabin is beautiful with lot's of room for everyone to be together, but alone when they want. Nothing is left out, it is just like being in your own home. The beds were very comfortable, most rentals put the cheap beds in and we were pleased with each one of them, and there are many! The weather was rainy when we went so we did not get to use all of your fabulous outdoor fire pit and tables, but did get to enjoy the rain from the outdoor covered porch. When in the area again, you will be the first ones we call.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Our stay at the cabin was fantastic. Our party really had a good time. The cabin is big, comfortable and spacious. The kids enjoyed the playroom and playing outside. The grounds are heavily wooded which keeps the cabin cool. We had such a wonderful time that some were talking about using the cabin for a future visit. For a picturesque, peaceful surrounding and lots of privacy, I highly recommend Maple Ridge.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The furnishing in the cabin is just perfect and nice and clean. The owner was friendly and helpful. We hope you will or have had a great time at "Maple Ridge". It is not a full time rental but our home with many GREAT memories. I helped put the roof on as a kid, spent part of my honeymoon there, my cousin was married there, my Aunt and Uncle made maple syrup for years. Hense the name "Maple Ridge".
