To all it may concern, Our group of 18 people stayed at the Little Train Station in Tannersville on July 29th weekend. Who ever wrote this review against the owner is a liar. It did not smell like urine, the place was very clean and was not a scam at all! It was much NICER than the pictures on the internet. The house, deck and grounds are well maintained and there was so much to do right on the premises. Even though the owner stays in a separate part of the house (a studio apartment in the basement with his own private entry), he does not bother anyone and you don’t even know he’s there. It was good he was there to give us some equipment for the various amenities, plus direct us to local area restaurants and clubs. We know he charges for firewood and it would not be free, and he rents other items (again, not for free). This is a hurtful person that wants to hurt the owner, yet the review he gave is False! Do not believe him. We had an AWESOME time. Signed, Very satisfied

Book the train house you will not regret it. I went up there with 20 other people and we had a great time, the house had everything you could need. The house was very clean on our arrival everyone was impressed with the wood work and the train theme of the house. The house slept 21 comfortably and the living room and deck gave you plenty of room to party and enjoy your company. Overall we had a great time and we will be back to The Train House. Its location is perfect right in the town walking distance and a 5 min drive to hunter mtn. I've been to other houses in Tannersville and this one is above all others.

Recommended for:Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children.

We went in March, when it was still a little snowy, but after the busy rush of the ski season. We had a really large group, so the set up was ideal. He supplied everything we needed - a wide array of kitchen supplies, bedding, all the comforts of home. We had a group of 18 and it never felt cramped or crowded. We all really enjoyed ourselves, especially the hot tub! Would definitely recommend this places - particularly in the summer when you can take advantage of all of the outdoor amenities. Also, its SO close to town - within walking distance. Which was really nice.

Recommended for:Pet owners, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children.

Did not enjoy our stay at ALL!!

We had the house for 2 nights over a weekend this past January. Although it was able to accomodate a large group, I do not recommend this house to anyone until improvements are made. I do not like to post negative feedbacks, but this time, it was a bit too much...: 1. We could not cook properly for the entire duration of our trip due to electricity going off whenever we tried and make something decent... 2. Unlike the ad, you have to bring some of your own kitchen ware (especially large pots) and knives... 3. Took more than a month to return our deposit (minus unadvertised fire wood fee of 140$ (we used maybe about 50$ worth) and minor damages that we were never aware of), despite the fact that we did not have proper electricity feed during our stay (never considered by the owner) - Just like the poster down below, we had to call several times to get the deposit back, which was used by the owner to plug his own financial problems... 4. Extra charges for garbages are not included in the fee - we had to bring our own garbages to nearby recycling station and pay a fee to get them disposed... all in all, I highly do not recommend renting this property.

Owner response:Hello, Not everything goes exactly the way you want. We had a transformer go out in front of my house that turned off my main breaker 12-15 times in 4 days until it was fixed, sorry Park. I also had an emergency to deal with on Long Island (driving back and forth) and grief. No…it has not been easy. On S.S. Disability and don’t work or bother the renters, yet I’m here to help and attend to whatever they ask for or want. I come and go thru the private back basement entry. I didn’t even stop the jumping that destroyed my couch and wild party they had. Nobody likes to pay for the wood they use or damages which are covered over. They have a wild party or play Beer Pong inside the house (which is not allowed per the Rental Contract), and it’s very hard to get all that beer and smell out! And they complain about the rug cleaning charge. It is impossible to make every person or group happy. I do my best and charge only for what that group does. I keep up with the house and ground the best I can. Each group that comes in has special needs and it has to be nice to have someone there to help them out at all times. The house is not as nice as it looks in the pictures. Plus the owner lives there. (he should have mentioned that, it's a little creepy). He took 6 weeks to return part of my deposit, said he didn't have enough money to send it all. We paid $$$ cash! How does he not have my money to give back to me??? Then he has the nerve to say we damaged 2 cushions and he was charging us a ridiculous amount. This was almost two months after we rented the house! Anyone could have damaged the cushions after we left. We DID NOT! He won't send pictures or reciepts for the damage. And he also told us to keep the fire burning, so we did. We thought we had to. He charged us $ for the wood. He saved money on the heating bill by telling us to keep fire burning! Three months later I got the rest of my deposit back (except for the cushions and wood). DO NOT RENT THIS HOUSE!!!! Find someone more honest and trustworthy to rent from!

We arrived and the jacuzzi didn't work after the owner (John) promised it is working (the heater didn't work and it was freezing outside). In addition, it took John 4 weeks to give us the deposit back (we had to call him 4 times), and he only gave us part of the deposit, and he didn't supply any reason for this deduction.

Never had such a great time at one rental house any other time in my life. There was so much to do! The house was great and very comfortable. That tremendous deck and the huge Hot Tub was terrific! We had a graet time playing Volley Ball, Basketball and Have you ever heard of a rental that offers Bounce Houses and other super Inflatable rides, Hell No! Why can't they all offer this. I've told all my friends about the Little Train Station and I'll go back every year. This was definetely the best Vacation house rental I've EVER had the pleasure of doing. Hats off to John!!
