Our family (of 5 - kids aged 9. 7 and 4) stayed here for 3 months in fall 2011 and highly recommend it to anyone. The property is everything that is described and is bigger than what it looks in the photos. For a family of 5 with 3 very busy young kids we found this house very comfortable and heaps of ways to keep the kids entertained..swimming, chasing fish, playing with the dogs next door, riding bikes around the lake, picking berries, fishing or paddling around the lake. The games room was also great to give the kids a big indoor area to play that kept the peace and quiet in tact upstairs! It was great to have Roy and Val right next door with any and all information about the island or the local area, and any issues with the house were always fixed immediately. Great hosts and we even managed to share a few great meals, a few quiet (or not so quiet) drinks and plenty of laughs with them and are hoping they will visit us one day is Oz! I was working from home 2 days a week during our stay and found the desk upstairs suitable for this and could close the doors for some peace and quiet. My wife enjoyed morning walks around the lake and I liked to cycle which was great from here because the trail around the lake is suitable for bikes and then connects up (a short distance from the end) to the Galloping Goose Regional Trail which you can follow into downtown, out to Sooke and beyond or up the east coast of the Island to Sidney which was an amazing early morning ride watching the sunrise over the ocean. We caught fish from the dock as well as crayfish and even a turtle! Even woke up to find Otters playing on our swim dock a few mornings! We were lucky enough to see the Salmon Run in the fall which was great, only 5 mins up the road at Goldstream. We had a few families visit us during our time and we even had 4 adults and 6 kids in the house for 5 nights and was still very comfortable (provided no bathroom hogging was enforced!). All in all a great experience for our whole family and would recommend it to anyone looking for a short vacation or a longer stay, the place is perfect for both!

Nice vacation home for a family

As advertised.Nice, huge home for a family(8). Langsford lake provides great fun time for kids taking a boat trip. We spent 3 days and we found quick access to downtown but everything was so close what we needed.

Thanks Roy and Val for a wonderful week in your lovely home! Comfortable beds and the most amazing views of the lake from the huge picture windows...a pleasure to wake up in every morning. This home was a great jumping off point for exploring the southern Island. Our children loved the lake, the paddle boat, ping pong table, fishing, and feeding the 20+ geese that make Langford lake their home. The home provided much needed relaxation on our trip. Area sights we enjoyed: Downtown Victoria (especially Beacon Hill Park), Wildplay Element Park, Ocean Kayaking in Sooke, and our drive to Port Renfrew to see the tide pools (and a bear on the side of the road). We will definately recommend to friends and family!

THANK YOU. What a wonderful time we had staying in your lake house Roy, it meet all of our needs and more. We stayed with two families, which included 4 adults and 2 infant children (2yrs) and we found the house very accommodating. Having an upstairs and downstairs bedroom ment that the children did not wake eachother in the mornings and it also gave us a little space for our own time. The view, well l don't think l can really say anything other than WOW!!!! It was the selling point to me when l looked on the webpage and l certainly was not disappointed. What a great location also, just a short trip into the main town and not far from all of the attractions that Victoria has to offer. The kitchen is certainly well equiped and we managed to cook many a nice meal here. The boys enjoyed exploring in the garden, little pier by the lake and throwing stones into the water. The walk around to the other side of the lake is an easy one to take with nice views looking back at the house. It was a house you could relax in. We had an evening playing pinpong, a game none of us had played in years, it brought back many memories..... If there was one thing that l could change about this wonderful lake house, it would the curtains......they simply let too much light in. (especially for us Australians who have the sun going down at 7pm and not back up until 7am!!) Darker blockout curtains would have made it a little easier for the children to sleep during the day and go to bed a little earlier of an evening. But overall, we LOVED IT!!!

Langford Lake House

We really enjoyed our time at the lake house. The owners of the house were helpful, friendly and easy to contact since they live close by. There were 8 of us and we were quite comfortable, the single bathroom was in high demand in the mornings; however we knew it would be before we rented the property. The location more than made up for this small inconvenience. We used the great location as a jumping off point for day trips during our stay. Less than 10 minutes from Victoria 1/2 an hour from Sooke and a couple of hours to Port Renfrew . If you like to cycle or run there are several trails close. I spent some time on the Galloping goose trail which is fantastic. Kids and adults loved being on the lake, the water was warm (we were there in July) and we spent just about as much time with the boat checking out turtles and birds and just exploring as we did swimming. I would not hesitate to recommend this property and look forward to an opportunity to go back myself.

The best week in Victoria

Thank you for sharing this amazing home with our family, your photos dont do it justice. We enjoyed being in a full house with the private yard lake side. A perfect location only minutes from shops and restuarants yet in a private spot. The hiking trail around the lake was a nice walk from the house. It was great to come home after a day of sightseeing, and sit by the lake with a drink, and watch people fishing and then of course the sunset. Everyone enjoyed playing ping pong downstairs on a day at home . We also appreciated how the house seemed to have every little thing we needed to make our stay enjoyable. Love to come back in the summer heat and enjoy some swimming, but we did have fun with the boats. Hope to be back soon.

We came to Victoria seeking relaxation and certainly found it. We enjoyed so many things but especially our daily row on the lake. How beautiful our stay here has been. We feel blessed to have stolen this time here. Love T...'s PS your gardens are espesially fine - thankyou for its beauty.

We had a lovely holiday despite moderate weather.The boats and ping pong table were v very popular pastimes for young and old. The house was very well equipt and Roy and Val were extremely helpful. Thank you.

Weve seen may beautiful things here on our 2 weeks on the island, and my wifes parents from france were very impressed. The house was a perfect size ton make our stay comfortable and relaxing..... sure beats camping! The kids loved the swimming, the boat , and the ping pong table. We hope to be back again some day and do the same things. Thanks for making our vacation to Victoria a simple and enjoyable one!
