Spent a lazy, long New Years Eve weekend at Driftwood with my hubby and 2 small children. Cabin is clean, cozy and full of fun this & that - games, movies, telescope, books and some toys. Perfect with our 6 & 3 year olds - yard is completely fenced in and they loved the surfboard room. We spent a lot of time in the front room just relaxing and being together while enjoying the stunning view of the coast down to Point Arena lighthouse. Wide, winding magical walk down to a lovely beach. Owner very responsive & answered many questions! Certainly recommend and will be back.

My husband and I had a great time at Driftwood. We loved the cottage. It was very cozy when we got there. Rose had turned on the stoves and lit a few candles and we felt so welcomed :-) We saw a deer, rabbit and quails right in the backyard. We spent a lot of time exploring the many beaches up the coast, went to Mendocino and Fort Bragg. We also went down the scenic short path to Irish beach a couple of times. It's an amazing beach, like no other we've ever seen. It was a true vacation. Doug was really nice and helpful. We'll be back!
Owner response:Thanks for your wonderful review I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

We were looking for a quiet place to celebrate our first anniversary that would allow us to bring our dog. The Driftwood was everything we were looking for and more. From the fist inquiry you know that Doug truly wants you to have a wonderful time at his vacation home. Everything is as described, the house is clean and comfortable and includes special touches to make you, your pet and/or children feel right at home. Doug also providing detailed information about what to see and do and called the day of our arrival to welcome us to the Driftwood and make sure we had everything we needed. At the Driftwood you can enjoy the ocean view and sunsets from the deck or den area, walk to the beach down the path from the back yard, play fetch with your dog with the toys provided in the house, watch a movie, read a book, take a quick trip up the coast to Mendocino and Fort Bragg, and prepare a nice meal in the kitchen. A perfect trip for us! Thanks Doug for making our first anniversary special. We are looking forward to our next stay at the Driftwood.

This is a truly incredible spot if you're looking for some relaxation and rejuvenation. We spent much of our time hiking in the nearby redwoods and along the rugged coastline, along with some incredible local wine-tasting. It was great to be able to come home each night and cook in a welcoming kitchen and soak our weary bodies out in the hot tub on the deck; watch shooting stars and listen to the waves crash below. The house was spotless when we arrived, and everything is laid out in detail, e.g., where to find pots, pans, towels, groceries, good restaurants etc. We will certainly be back. -- Andrew & Michelle

If we could give this property ten stars, we would! Where to begin... the owner was extremely helpful in answering our many questions, helping us identify the nearest surf spots and vineyars, and the directions given to the house were very detailed and accurate. Note that it can be a tough drive as the roads are a bit windy and not very well-lit if you're getting in late in the evening; needless to say, the details were key to getting us there! The house itself was clean, very well organized, and had many amenities beyond those listed in the description. A treasure trove of great movies, books, and board games; lists of nearby restaurants, grocery stores, vineyards, etc. The kitchen was well-stocked, and perfect for cooking. The space has a very home-like feel - one can tell that the owners have put a great deal of thought into creating an environment that is comfortable and welcoming; it's hard to put into words, other than to say that if you have an opportunity to stay here... DO! We will absolutely, positively, be returning for another weekend away. Many thanks to the owner for all his help and for helping to make our friend's birthday weekend memorable!
Owner response:Many thanks for your wonderful review. It means a lot to us for guests to have a great time at Driftwood! You, your family and friends are always welcome at Driftwood and HAPPY SURFING!

Had a lovely time at Driftwood bungalow. We enjoyed the roominess of the house, the beauty of the coastal view and the cool breeze--coming from Dallas we sure didn't expect to use or appreciate the gas heaters in both living areas--but we ended up using them on those wonderfully chilly mornings. The house feels very private although it is conveniently located to everything we needed. Having Rose next door was great--she was so helpful and gave great advice on good places to visit. It was just the two of us, but the house would have been just as great if we had brought along the kids or friends. It's rustic, not fancy--comfortable and clean. Great views, quiet beach, away from the crowded areas.

My family and I just returned from 5 nights at the bungalow. It was a fantastic trip! The home is perfect for a small family. We were able to bring our dog who had as much fun as we did! The back yard is great for dogs and kids. We were able to get to the beach without any problems. The beach is quiet and not busy. The porch over looking the ocean was fantastic and the hot tub was perfect at night. The home is clean and the kitchen has everything you need. The owner of the home was very helpful and a pleasure to work with. We hope to return soon.
Owner response:Thank you for you very kind words! Nothing is nicer then when guests have a great time at Driftwood! You and your family are always welcome.

Just back from 5 nights at the Driftwood. Had a fantastic time. Accommodations are cheerful and fun, clean and inviting. This is a cottage where you can feel at home and at ease, so it's perfect for folks with dogs (or kids!) The deck has glorious views of the ocean (if you're here at the right time, you can see whales as they make their way north or south.) A short, easy and lovely path will take you to miles of Manchester Beach and flocks of pelicans, sea lions, many other birds. There's lots of driftwood if you'd like to try your hand at sea-side architecture. Sunsets are glorious. No tv and no wifi means more reading, relaxing, and contemplating the beauty around you. Kitchen is filled with everything you need. Queenie's Roadside House in Elk has fantastic breakfasts. And a short drive to Pt. Arena will bring you to civilization, should you need it, with a movie theatre, free wifi at the Co-op, and good food shopping. The perfect getaway.
Owner response:Thank you sooooo much for your wonderful review which makes us very, very happy. We are even happier that you had a wonderful time at Driftwood. You are always welcome at Driftwood to make even more great memories. Thank you!!!

We had a very good time at your house and it was very comfortable. We really enjoyed walking down the beautiful trail to the beach. The trail felt like being in an enchanted place, magical. Everything was good and we didn't have any problems. We will rent your house again!

Just wanna say thank you for a great stay at Driftwood. My friends were so impressed by the views and all stuffs your prepared for us. We have a 16 month-old toddler and he couldn't stop riding the boat outside at the yard. My dog is freely walking around at the yard without me worrying he will chase the deer or anything. I was a bit worried at first that there is no internet connection but it was actually good to not working for full 4 days!! I couldn't wait to come back to your house for my next guests visit.
Owner response:Thanks for your very kind words. Nothing makes us as happy as a wonderful review such as yours. As for the net, it's nice to get away from that too, but in a pinch, there is always dial-up (uggg). Thanks again,
