Puerto Morelos house description
Our Home is located in front of the nicest stretch of beach in Puerto Morelos, 10 minutes walk to the main plaza, very private and very clean, marble floors and baths, granite countertops, hand made carpentry, central a/c in everyroom, private infinity pool/jacuzzi overlooking the ocean. private terrace and enclosed beach with palapa. Puerto Morelos is a Sleepy little fishing town located 30km to the south of Cancun and 25km to the north of Playa del Carmen we are only 20 minutes from Cancun Intl Airport with direct flights from US, Canada and most Major Airports World Wide. The town itself has two main streets, running parallel to the beach with mostly private houses and some small inn's very quiet and safe. The town is quaint with a small plaza (zocalo) where all the little bars and restaurants are located, ( about 10 minutes walk from the villa ) There are swings and slides even a basketball court facing the ocean! on many weekends there are musicians playing in the plaza were you can hear them play! The beach is one of the nicest in the riviera maya with clear water protected by the reef which lies 500 yards offshore, one of the nicest places for snorkeling and diving because of the proximity to the reef, you can hire a diving outfit or just use the collectivo snorkeling for about 20 dlls per person. ( there are many areas of the reef that can be accessed on your own with your safety bouy ) For those of you who want to explore the mayan ruins, this is a great location! Chichen Itza, Tulum, Coba, are just a couple of hours drive! also underwater holes ( cenotes ) are everywhere! where you can cave dive or snorkel, plus many national parks like xel ha and xcaret.

My family spent 10 days in Casa del Viento. The house is nice, clean, well-maintained, and quite spacious. The location is perfect - still an easy walk to the main town square, but far enough away that the beach is not at all crowded. The beach is gorgeous and the house has a nice deck which is a perfect spot to drink your coffee or margarita and watch the waves. There's also a private sandy garden with hammock and chairs and palm trees for a little shade. Our kids had a great time in the plunge pool. In our many rambles up and down the beach, we couldn't find another house we would rather have been at! Puerto Morelos is a nice town if you are looking for something less touristy than Playa or other destinations on this coast - many of the families on the beach were Mexican, and it is overall a very low-key, relaxing spot. There were a few reasonable restaurants to choose from - no tremendous stand-outs - but the house has a very nice kitchen if you choose to cook in. We only rented a car on a couple of days (from a rental place in town) to do excursions; otherwise, we were fine without one.

Beautiful home, Beautiful location
Beautiful home, Beautiful location
This home is a slice of heaven on earth. The house itself is beautifully appointed with everything you could need for a short or long stay. After walking up and down the beach, I've concluded this house has the best "back yard" and is perfectly situated due to its proximity to town. A short 10-15 minute walk and you can shop, eat, listen to music or just people watch in the sqauare. Armando, the owner, was there if we needed him, but totally unobtrusive otherwise. He was very helpful in making suggestions when we aksed. This home is amazing.................you won't be sorry!

Casa de Viento - a lovely stay
Casa de Viento - a lovely stay
The Casa del Viento was the perfect set up for our vacation. My husband, 3 year old daughter, 2 month old son, and I stayed there with 2 other couples and a toddler. The house is very kid-friendly, with lots of sand toys for the kids. Armando provided a crib, car seat, and high chair. The fenced-off beach area attached to the house makes it nice to be outside relaxing in the hammock while the kids play.in the sand. The adults took turns paddling the kayak out to the reef to snorkle - an addded bonus to the beautiful beach. The kitchen is well set with everything needed for cooking meals for 6+ people, and Armando gave us tips on where to get great produce, fish, and meat. The location of the house was ideal - just a 10 minute walk to the center of town. Close enough to go out for some meals, but far enough away to maintain peace and quiet. I would definitely recommend this rental to friends or family.

excellent vacation with the kids
excellent vacation with the kids
We spent a week at Armando's house in the beginning of January. House is very nice, right on the beach. Beach was cleaned every morning from seeweed and trash. It's very quite town, no loud music. Beach is nice, sandy, no rocks, my twins 5 y.o had a blast. Armando allowed us to use his catamaran, so my husband enjoyed sailing almost every day. All the restaurants are within walking distance- 10 mins along with supermarket. Armando helped us with everything re: advice about the area, people and etc. We enjoyed the grilled fish on the terrace during the sunset, while kids were playing under talapa with the sand toys, provided by Armando. Location of the house is excellent, right on the beach. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

A Perfect Location
A Perfect Location
We spent three weeks over the 2011 Christmas holidays at Casa del Viento – and what a great time we had as an extended family! The 11 of us – 6 adults and 5 children (aged 9 -13) found the house just perfect for our needs. The large well-equipped kitchen and eating areas were ideal for meal preparation, especially important to us as some in the family are celiacs and must follow a strict diet free of gluten, a regime not always easy to accomplish in restaurants where cross- contamination of foods occurs frequently. The house location is perfect – just a few feet from the ocean where everyone spent hours snorkeling -and only a 10 minute leisurely walk to the town square. At last count, we had seen over 40 different varieties of fish so close to ‘home’. Although we did go out to the reef once, we found the best snorkeling events were on our doorstep. We loved the patio, small pool and fenced off beach area with palapa where everyone had room to sunbathe, play games or read. The open floor plan in the house, together with the large showers, multiple TV’s, internet and phone made it feel like we were at home. Our host Armando was super- always there when we needed him. He and his wife Barbara live upstairs but we only saw them when we required help with something. He keeps the house in pristine condition and offers great suggestions as to what places to see - e.g. the best cenotes to visit, etc. Would we go again? In a heartbeat!! This was our sixth family holiday in Mexico and, without a doubt, Casa del Viento was the best villa we have rented. We will be back. Mac and Ruth, Calgary, Canada.

Amazing Family Getaway
Amazing Family Getaway
A huge thank you to Armando for making our family vacation so spectacular - the house is fabulous, the beach is beautiful and Armando is a wealth of information! Between Cancun and Playa is Puerto Morelos, which has not yet been overrun with tourists. We loved the authentic feel of the town, which is unspoiled and pure. The stroll to town is easy, with many restaurants at your disposal. The house is truly a treasure, and we will be back as soon as possible.

Anyone who is thinking of renting Casa del Viento will not be disappointed. Our family just spent 10 glorious days in Puerto Morelos and we couldn't have had a better experience from start to finish. Armando, the owner picked us up from the airport right on time and immediately made us feel welcomed. He stopped by Walmart on the way home so we could pick up some basic necessities to get us started and then pointed out to us where the best places to pick up groceries, pollo asado, fish, bread etc. was in Puerto Morelos. The house is a dream on the beach. One never knows what you're going to end up with when booking on-line however, we were not disappoointed in the least and it was more beautiful than we expected. We were 2 families staying at Casa del Viento (4 adults and 6 kids) and it accomodated us all very nicely. The open floor plan, the functional kitchen and laundry and the beautiful bathrooms with large showers were all more than adequate for our needs. It didn't just feel like a rental house, we felt like we were staying in someone's home with all the extra little touches such as soaps/shampoos etc in the bathroom and beautiful furnishings. The view of the beach was breathtaking and under the palapa watching the kids play on the beach was my husbands favourite place to be. The soft white sand and warm water were beautiful and the beach was safe for the kids including the pool. In the 10 days we were there we saw a pool boy 4 times to do the maintenance on the pool. Bottled water was provided as well which was very nice especially with children. None of us got sick which is always a concern when you're traveling with kids. Our experience in Puerto Morelos was wonderful and Armando was a big part of that. He is a charming, helpful, knowledgeable host who has a passion for his country and has a real sense of fun and adventure. Our kids loved him as he is like a big kid himself. As soon as you meet him you feel comfortable with his honesty and kindness. He should be very proud of how he opens up his home for others to enjoy in this most beautiful corner of Mexico! We just returned from our SECOND! stay at Armando's beautiful villa in Puerto Morelos. This, in our opinion, is the best house in Puerto Morelos. The location is perfect - close to town, but not too close (just the right amount of time to have a nice stroll during the day to get an ice cream, or a romantic walk home after dinner in the evening). Although Armando and his mother live upstairs, you would never know. The two times we have stayed, we have never seen them (except Armando when we needed him for expert local advice) - you feel the place is totally yours. It is a big place too. The main floor where you stay has three bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms, and superb finishings. You can tell that much thought, design, and attention to detail went into the construction of the house. Armando is just finishing his second house in town, and we stopped by to see it - it has the same superb finishings that the beach house has. The furnishings are also high end. One of my favorite things to do is open the amazing glass doors in front of the dining room table, get a cup of coffee, feel the ocean breeze, and alternate between a good book and spectacular views of the beach, the sea, and the reef in the distance. We have two boys, ages 9 and 3. The back deck is spacious, with a small pool. Beyond the deck, and down some stairs is a magical fenced off area with palm trees, a palapa, and the most incredible sand you have ever had between your toes. Our boys alternated between the deck and the sand oasis all day long. The wonderful thing about the oasis is that our 3 year old could play to his hearts content and we felt safe that he would now wander past the small fence onto the beach. This is a superb home and we plan to add more stays in the future to the two we have already enjoyed! Armando could not be a better host. (Oh, we recommend having Armando arrange a cook - which we did both times - inexpensive and very convenient!)

This property is wonderful. It is beautifully furnished, clean and very well equipped. The plunge pool/jacuzzi on the terrace is a nice addition but the real attraction is the fantastic position on a terrific beach with direct and easy access to the warm blue ocean! We never tired of the view and spent every evening sitting on the terrace enjoying the warm breeze and the sound of the nearby surf. Puerto Morelos is a quiet little town but has enough choice of shops/restaurants/bars to cater for most tastes. This house offers everything you need for a very comfortable and extremnely relaxing holiday. Highly recommended.
