Hot Tub Didn't work
Hot Tub Didn't work
After a seven-hour drive to get there, the first thing we saw was a note from the owner saying, "Sorry about the hot tub, part went out." No offer to get it fixed during our planned three-day stay. No offer of a discount. We knew the cabin was very basic, but we had specifically looked to rent a cabin that had hot tub access. This was mentioned several times in talking with the management company that handles the booking of this and the Washington cabin that sits next to it (and was the one we actually booked). The company offered to move us to a different cabin (still no hot tub, however), and while we were happy with the cabin we ended up staying in, we sure did miss having the hot tub we'd been planning on for weeks before our arrival. Things happen and stuff breaks, but the hot tub is easily the biggest selling point of these cabins. We felt like we should have been notified before our arrival. Instead, it appeared the owner just hoped we'd sit back and take it without complaint. Since the rental agreement actually stipulates that a malfunctioning hot tub isn't grounds for a refund, we wondered if the cabin owner might have even known the hot tub wasn't working when we rented the cabin. Again, the management company did their best and even offered a refund. Of course, we had just driven seven hours with four people in the car, we weren't really going to turn around and go home, and finding other accomodations on short notice would have been nearly impossible. The Roosevelt and Washington cabins are great for the price they rent for, but beware that keeping the hot tub in working order isn't necessarily the owner's priority.

Peace and relaxation
Peace and relaxation
We spent 3 nights in the Washington cabin and had a great time. The location was central to everything we wanted to see. The George Michelson bike trail was a real plus! Wish we had many more nights! Watching the full moon rise over the trees from the hot tub was such a treat and the last night there we had a parade of cows start up our road with a some of the funniest sounds we have ever heard!! Wow! You don't get that in the city. And we had some of the best grilled ribs we have ever had right there off our own deck...You will enjoy your time.
