My wife & I stayed in this VRBO for a total of 5 nights. The location was excellent to the area we wanted to be located. 2 blocks from Barracks Row/8th Street. 8th street has lots of shops and good eating choices. We liked Ugly Mug's brunch. Zest & Lola's were all good ones for us. A short walk to the Metro station that gets you anywhere is DC. Property was quiet and had everything we needed for our stay. This property included a parking spot behind that was off street which is a HUGE + in DC! We would recommend this to anyone visiting DC. When we visit DC again, we would look only at this property for availability. Owner was very easy to work with and communication was excellent. Was as described and clean and well cared for. My wife and I were alerted to VRBO’s by friends of ours and had never stayed in one. Let me say what a wonderful surprise this turned out to be. The first thing we noticed was the cleanliness of the area and then the apartment itself. The bed was also a major plus, very comfortable. The major thing when locating a VRBO for me was dedicated off street parking. This one offered one for no extra cost, and it turned out to be perfect. With GPS, getting around in DC and nearby locations is very easy as long as you avoid the rush hour traffic. The apartment being street level was a plus for older people like us that don’t like to climb steps. The location of the Metro is really just a casual stroll and bus stops are even closer if you prefer. The restaurants are just a couple of blocks away on Marine Barrack’s Row on 8th street, a neat place to while away a few hours. I especially was fond of The Ugly Mug because they had Shiner Bock on tap, my favorite beer back here in Texas! And a lot of the Metro stops have restaurants nearby. The grocery stores were a short distance away and had ample parking for my full size pickup. Don’t miss the Eastern Market on the weekend. Lots of stuff you can do without, but fun to browse. And of course, the purpose of going to DC is to visit the Smithsonian Museums. If you have one of the newer cell phones, you can download an app for free that will help you with the maps and information. Also, Deborah has lots of information on all the sites right there in the apartment. Deborah was always available to answer questions, either by phone, text, or email. A visit to the Washington Nationals ball park with her for a major league baseball game was a highlight of our stay for us. We would definitely recommend this apartment to our friends. Our month’s stay was all too short. Thank you Deborah, for a wonderful home away from home!!

We loved staying at Deborah's apartment, and hope to stay there again when we visit DC. It's very clean, nicely equipped, and our stay was very pleasant. The only small problem is she sometimes takes a while to respond -- be patient, it is worth the wait. thank you! your guests from Seattle

The apartment was just perfect for the 2 of us for the week. We enjoyed being able to walk a few blocks to all types of resturants, we found grocery stores easiliy. The Metro was only about 5 blocks away and it was an easy walk to the Capital Building area. We didn't have a car so we either walked or took the metro all over the DC area. The owner was very helpful and even greeted us by a text message the night we arrived. The property was very clean and in a neighborhood that felt to safe to walk around in, even at night.

My husband and I just spent one week exploring D.C. It was our first trip and we loved the location of this unit. It was very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for a wonderful one week stay. After reading other reviews I decided to rent this unit. We were not disappointed. I think it would be too crowded for 4 adults, but it was perfect for the two of us. Thanks Deborah for making this great unit available.

This property is so convenient to the Capitol and easily accessible to the Mall by Metro or bus. Delightful neighborhood where we felt very safe. Lots of places to eat nearby. On the map it looks close to the highway, but you hear no traffic noise. Since we drove there, having a parking place was a real bonus.(fyi, there is underground parking at Harris-Teeter) Clean townhome and very comfortable bed. Would definitely recommend staying here.

The apartment was clean and had all the convenience of being at home. The kitchen is well equiped, the beds are comfortable and the street noise was minimal. Besides being a nice quiet neighborhood, the location is perfect for the subway connection and for a nice walk to the Capitol and the National Mall. There are some nice restaurants just a few blocks away. We especially enjoyed The Tortilla Cafe on 7th St. (a Diners, Dives, and Drive-Ins favorite) and the Ugly Mug on 8th St., both had excellent food and good prices. The Eastern Market is a must on the weekends. We would certainly recommend this apartment to our friends.
Owner response:John & Jane - Thanks for noting for future guests what has been a well-kept secret in the neighborhood: some of the great restaurants along Barracks Row! Eastern Market - a combination of farmers, artists and flea-marketeers that always makes for good strolling (and great waffles!) - has been entertaining Washingtonians for a century. . . Glad you enjoyed it all ! - Deborah

I highly recommend this attractive town house for seniors who want to see the Capitol, but still reserve enough energy to enjoy the museums. It is well placed in the historic district of Capitol Hill, in a neighborhood that seems very safe. It is a superb location for evenings when you don't feel like cooking because the Marine Barrack's Row restaurant district two blocks away has something for everyone. There are only a few steps at the entrance, and it is charming and quiet inside. It sleeps four comfortably, is nicely decorated and fully equipped for cooking, which can save on meals. I was delighted to find you can store packed lunches in lockers at the Smithsonian's American History Museum (which cost a refundable 25 cents)! A bus to the Mall is a block away. There is also a circulator bus two blocks away and the metro is a nice morning walk for more rapid transport around town. There is a reserved parking space, but no need to rent a car with puplic transport so close and easy. Deborah was so helpful in giving information about the Smart Card which you can use for this entire transportation system. No fussing with change, and I like that. Swipe your Smart Card and away you go! Maybe enjoy the Kennedy Center for its 6 pm FREE entertainment!
Owner response:Hi Mancy! I'm so glad your visit to DC worked so well for you. . . it's great to have such a high-spirited solo traveler, and especially good to see your money-saving tips. Washington can be expensive, but it doesn't have to break the bank, and I hope other visitors take your suggestions and dive into everything we have to offer in the nation's capital! - Deborah

I highly recommend this condo. I stayed here with my 18 year old grandson. It was just wonderful. Deborah was very helpful and very quick in responding to questions. The location was great. Just a short walk to the Metro Station in Eastern Market and a few stops to all of the tourist attractions The condo was clean and nicely decorated. We felt a part of the neighborhood walking to all of the nearby restaurants and shopping in the Eastern Market. We would return in a moment to this location. Thank you Deborah.

First time in DC and staying at Deborah's townhouse was a great choice. The place was clean and excellently kept. My wife and I along with our 14 year old son could not have been happier with the location. The metro was not far and great restaurants were within a few blocks. The area was very safe and we walked everywhere. This was really important to us when we choose this location, and we were not disappointed. Eastern Market was close and bus ride to the major attractions was a relatively short distance. Throughout the process Deborah was very helpful and I would highly recommend staying here for anyone that wants a great DC experience.

My husband, two kids and I really enjoyed the nice, cute home. We had everything that we needed and were able to make meals, do laundry and walk to the Eastern Market Metro. It is a super cute neighborhood that looks like it's right out of a magazine. We would definetly recommend this place to anyone visiting the DC area.

Perfect place for a family of four, loved that we could get around easily by taking the metro (5 blocks away) or even walking to the Capital. Parking is directly behind the apt. and is at no extra cost. Neighbors were friendly and we felt safe staying there, pretty homes and lovely gardens to look at when walking to the metro. The Eastern Market was a highlight, as was Barracks Row (two streets over), lots of good restaurants. We really liked Matchbox, yummy pizza and pasta. Deborah thought of everything to make our stay wonderful (well stocked kitchen to make easy meals at home) and was very helpful with our questions. King bed was very comfortable and our boys (8 and 9) slept great on the futon after a long day of sight-seeing. Wish we had more time to stay, it was a perfect vacation! Thanks Deborah!

As a family with 2 young children, we spent three nights in Washington. The property is very well located (only a 10 min walk from the Capitol) and a few blocks away from Eastern Market (tip: try the pancakes, they are fantastic). The neighborhood is quiet and very pretty. We could park the car behind the property at no cost. The place itself was very clean and well equipped. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family and would not hesitate to book again.

This is a very cute condo, located in a lovely neighborhood. It is not the most lively area in DC, but very close to everything with the metro taking you everywhere. It is a very clean place and basically have everything one would need. This is true for shorter but also for longer stays. I've lived there for two months and it was very convenient. Plus: the landlady is super helpful! This combination - nice and clean condo in a beautiful neighborhood, located close to downtown and the helpul owner - makes me totally recommend this place. Thanks Deborah for making my stay that comfortable!

My family of 4 (including a 7 and 13 year old) stayed in this charming 1 bedroom apartment for a week in Sept/Oct. The owner has thought of everything you could want while away from home: extra linens, umbrellas, a scooter for the kids and even discount cards for the local grocery store! The kitchen is well appointed and the washer/dryer worked great! The walk to the metro was short and safe and the walk to the Capitol Visitors Center was only about 20 minutes (1 mile). This apartment has easy access to the nearby freeway (don't worry, you don't hear the freeway) and if you have a car you are only minutes from Costco! I would recommend this condo to anyone traveling with children but it would be a little tight for 4 adults unless you are very close! Thanks Deborah for a great stay!

The apartment is in a great location (a few blocks from the metro) and we enjoyed having more room to spread out than a hotel room. The pictures are a little old in that there is no longer a trundle bed in the bedroom, however, there is a futon sofa/sleeper in the living room. It was wonderful that the owner provided all the little things---soap, detergent, paper towels, etc. The owner also had everything we needed for our little one--high chair and pack n' play. Parking is right behind the apartment. There were many places to eat out around the area and conveniently located grocery stores. The rate is very reasonable and we would definitely rent this apartment again.

This apartment is in a great location ! Once we arrived, we left our car parked for the entire vacation and walked to the Metro . The apartment is clean and well equipped for travelling with children. The king size bed is very comfortable. Our family really enjoyed having a home away from home while exploring all the sites in D.C.

My wife, two young daughters, and I spent a week in this wonderful condo. It was a great value: hassle free, all the amenities, close to all the major sights, clean, off street parking, and it even had a high chair for the baby. The unit is well located, with easy access to downtown and the highways. The owner, Debra, even provides maps to the the sights and local grocery stores. It is approximately four blocks to Eastern Market, a farmers' style market with fresh produce, cheese, fish, meat, etc. A wonderful spot to stay and enjoy all there is to see in DC.

Three friends and I stayed here over New Year's Eve last year. The hostess was extremely helpful, and the apartment was clean and well-maintained. She even provided an air mattress for one of us to sleep on. The apartment is within walking distance of the capitol building, although we discovered that walking from the Lincoln Memorial back to the apartment was longer than we had anticipated. It is also a nice walk from the grocery store and the metro station. The neighborhood seemed very safe, and the kitchen was well-stocked. I will say that we did not spend a ton of time in the apartment because we spent most of the day sightseeing. We had some good meals in the apartment though, and it cut down on the amount we spent in restaurants. Overall, staying here was great way to see the capital, and for four college students who like walking, it was a wonderful place to stay.

What a surprise to find a fresh, clean and new small fully equipped apartment, 4 blocks from the Metro. The neighborhood was beautiful, there is a European Bakery/Cafe 4 blocks away, the hostess called several times to make sure we were fine, the key-less entrance was a great amenity, the washer/dryer a big plus and she charged $10 less per night than the most inexpensive hotel room I could find in Washingon! Most charged a cleaning fee, she did'nt, which should be the norm. If it was excessively dirty, she would charge, which seemed quite fair. It was Wonderful!
