Relax with coffee in the morning on the enclosed glass porch while you gaze at herons, egrets and osprey feeding. Walk to private beach to swim, sunbathe, picnic, collect beach glass, or fish. Enjoy breathtaking views, soak in the outdoor spa, read in the hammock or on the porch, collect available beach chairs and umbrellas or horseshoes, boules, or croquet to play in the two acre field. Unwind with cocktails on the porches or deck as the sun goes down. Turn on the new Weber gas BBQ for a dinner under the stars.

Drive or bike 4 miles to Orient State Park or board the Ferry to New London, visit Foxwood’s Casino, Groton's Submarine base or Mystic's Seaport.

My husband and I recently spent a relaxing week at Cedarcroft. The house is lovely, old, welcoming, well equipped and very well located. There are water views. Birders will enjoy the marsh where as many as three great egrets spent their days hunting, and the ospreys circled overhead. Fishing on the nearby Sound is excellent. Shopping is good in Greenport, and the restaurant choices were exceptional, including Manhattan-quality Noah. We also enjoyed a goat farm in the area which makes delicious goat cheeses, and several local wines, Raphael and Sparkling Pointe especially. The Charmans are caring landlords. Before our stay they sent a detailed list of local attractions. We were greeted with a bottle of Raphael wine, and treated to a clam and lobster bake from a fish store in the area. There were fresh flowers waiting for us. The house was immaculate. Above all, it has the warmth of a place where a family has lived happily for generations. Our time there was very restorative.

Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.
My family just returned from an extraordinary trip to Orient. The house that we rented was lovely and the views wete beyond description. We had a tremendous week. We almost managed to do everything on the bucket list left by our hosts. We biked, hiked, kayaked, swam, hot-tubbed, and showered outdoors. We rode the carousel in Greenport, we took the ferry to Shelter Island, and even jumped off the Orient Yacht Club dock One of the highlights was the lovely meal that our hosts provided from the Southold Fish Market, which we ate on the private beach next to the house. My grandmother said that the only way to eat a lobster is in your bathing suit and on the Sound. She also said that the only way to clean off is to jump in the Sound right after. How right she was! What a fabulous way to spend a vacation!

Cedarcroft is truly a gracious home with some of the most magnificent vistas in the North Fork. The home is beautifully appointed, and the owners go out of their way to make you feel welcome and respond to your every need. It fulfilled all of our family's expectations as a gateway to discover this beautiful area - we highly recommend it for an enchanting and unfogettable stay!

We loved our September '08 stay at Cedarcroft and can't wait to visit again. The house is beautiful, spacious, very clean and well cared for. The views of water and wetlands are amazing as promised. Everything we could have needed was provided, and the owners could not have been more helpful and informative throughout. We had fun bicycling around town, sampling fresh farmstand produce and some great L.I. wines, birdwatching from the patio, and walking on the nearby beach. A perfect place to escape from NYC or anywhere else!

Cedarcroft is a lovely family home with lots of character and wonderful views of the water. We relaxed on the hammock, played croquet on the ample lawn, grilled dinner to our hearts content, and enjoyed the pebbly beach a short walk away. The owners are extremely nice and helpful in answering questions and were wonderful in sharing all of their baby things for our little one. Although the traffic on the two-lane road was a little more than we anticipated, we highly recommend the home as a wonderful and relaxing getaway!

Beautful historic home with wonderful views and private access to the rocky beach of the Long Island Sound. We were there in early June and often had the beach to ourselves. Quaint old hamlet within walking distance...we loved strolling by the old gardens and interesting old homes. Ferry access is close by...so a day trip to CT. was fun and easy. We had a wonderful time at this very special property.

We were so busy having fun we didn't email you to tell you about it. The good news was I didn't look at my email once in 10 days. We did bike, swim, kayak and chill at the beach as well as drank plenty of wine. All in all we had a great time and hope you will let us return next summer.

Why the Owner Chose Orient:
We are the third generation to inherit Cedarcroft! Built in 1906, our historic, family Craftsman Home with its wood details and beams, leaded glass windows, giant stone fireplace, sun porch and hardwood floors has been in the family and continues to draw our grown sons and their families back to the place of our idyllic Norman Rockwell summers. We smile when we read the reviews guests have submitted telling how they enjoyed the beauty and history of our home. Several refer to the magnificent vistas, well-maintained home, or fantasized about being the owners! We’re confident you too will treasure your time at Cedarcroft.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Guests enjoy incredible views, reading or socializing in the sunroom or front porch, napping in the hammock, or a glass of wine in the Adirondack chairs while the sun sets over Long Island Sound. Our two acre property offers space and equipment for soccer, volleyball, softball, horse shoes, boules, tag, hide and seek and croquet, or a starlit soak in the newly installed spa. At our private beach, guests can sunbathe, fish, swim, collect beach glass, or paint rocks. Besides nearby highlights of wine-tasting, antiquing, shopping, mini golf or going the movies, there’s kayaking, bike riding, hiking, tennis, visits to Latham’s farm stand, the Candyman, Orient Village, Historical Society, Yacht Club or Hallock’s Bay.
