Keywords: Village House
Our small but charming village apartment is the perfect pied-a-terre for a couple and offers a wonderful and romantic 'home' in the heart of a seaside village. Please read the entire description before writing as most of your questions will be answered herewith.
The house has a lot of character and light and has been lovingly furnished and cared for. It is not a typical rental house with a mish mash of garage sale furnishings and cheap decor. We have selected high quality accents, a gas Lacanche oven, down comforters, and oversized cotton towels to make the house the kind of place you want to hang out in, rather than just a place to sleep and throw your luggage. If you are looking for a combination of high-quality and self catering, then this is your house.
The house is in the heart of the old village of Ste. Maxime, not far from the church that rings out its symphony of bells each day. From the front door you are seconds from restaurants and cafes, morning croissants and afternoons at the beach. The balcony overlooks the village scene, the ocean is slightly visible and sunsets are picturesque.
Inside, the doors and windows are all double paned and the bedrooms are at the back of the house, making them quieter, but this is a lively village, especially on weekend nights. There are tiled floors and a lovely breeze that passes through the house if you open up the french doors keep it cool in the summertime, and rarely have we even used the air-conditioning.
THE HOUSE IS SMALL, roughly 65 square meters, or 650 square feet, give or take, which is why we recommend it ONLY FOR A COUPLE OR SMALL FAMILY OF 3.
(Children under 8 not recommended)
The living area is large and roomy with vaulted ceilings and 4 sets of french doors that allow in the warm sun. Luckily, you'll be living outside most of the time with the village right outside your door.
A walk to the beach takes a few minutes and we have a beach umbrellas, chairs and towels for you to take with you. Or hop on the ferry to the glitz and glamour of St. Tropez. The ferry is just down the road. There is also a casino and plenty of shops and restaurants to entertain you.
There is internet at the house
There is satellite TV with CNN, BBC and Skynews in English
DVD player. Children's and adult DVD's
A car is not necessary in the village, and there is NO PARKING at the house, but should you decide to explore, there is a europcar agency in the village, walking distance away. Paid parking at the end of the street with reasonable weekly rates is also an alternative. Or street parking in the village and local lots. NO PARKING IS AVAILABLE AT THE HOUSE.
The House is located 19km from the TGV station at St. Raphael. (4h45 from Paris) and a bus from the station brings you to the tourist office in Ste Maxime, only 3 minute walk from the house. There is also a TGV station at Les Arcs which is about 35 km away. From here you would need to arrange a taxi. We are 100 km from Nice and 150 Km from Marseille airports.
We hope you come and call our home, yours, for a little while.
Enjoy your stay!

My husband and I travel 2 months a year and never go back to the same place twice. UNTIL we stayed at this truly charming petit maison. We spent a month here with our daughter and then had to go back for a second month 2 years later. The house is a special place, as is St. Maxime. The owner has exquisite taste and we feel as though we are a real french family when we stay there. The location is another jewel. Nestled at the top of the hill overlooking the sea. We open the door and walk down through the center of the old town feeling the history of this part of the world. The people are so nice and the shopping and food are top notch. Our experiences there even prompted us to move to the beach in California. We can't wait to go back again and again!
Owner response:Evey and Jamie, it was our pleasure to have you, twice. We hope to see you soon and indeed agree, Ste. Maxime is a special place.
Recommended for:Tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My wife and I came to Ste.-Maximez with the intention of using it as a base to explore the Cote d'Azure. Instead, with the exception of a ferry ride to St. Tropez, we stayed in the heart of this charming little village. We did our food shopping every morning and cooked our meals in the beautiful kitchen in the house. Plenty of markets and little shops all around the area. Although we were to continue our travels in Italy, my wife wept upon leaving this wonderful little home up the street from the village square and our morning baguette and espresso.
Owner response:Bob, Thanks so much for the kind words. We always seem to attract such great people to our home. It must be the magic of Ste. Maxime and the south of France. We hope to see you again soon. Happy Travels. Kimberley

My family arrived in Ste. Maxime on the day of a torrential storm which knocked out power to much of the Var Department. When we opened the door to this house it didn't matter what was happeneing outside- inside was warm and charming. We have had the good fortune of travelling quite a bit as a family. I am a hotelier by profession and was a little nervous about staying in a house as opposed to a hotel. On our last trip to the South of France we had stayed in St Tropez which, while lovely in all the ways one would expect, tended towards fussiness in a way we found uncomfortable. Not so Ste. Maxime! We found the village to be absolutely charming and its inhabitants friendly and gracious. The marina is just a few blocks away. The shops, restaurants and bars are just a few blocks away. What is wonderful is that you are very close to everything you need in Ste, Maxime but far enough away for the house to be quiet. The house was extremely comfortable, clean and well appointed. All details were arranged in advance. There were even necessities; coffee, olive oil, wine, etc., very thoughtfully installed prior to our arrival. The beds are comfortable, the living area well furnished with wifi, cable, books, DVDs and CDs. If, like me, you enjoy cooking then you will be DELIGHTED with the Lacanche enamel stove in the kitchen. It was our intention to use the house as a base from which to make trips into the surrounding area. Instead we found ourselves so charmed by the house and the village of Ste. Maxime that we never left. We look forward to our next trip. If I have one regret about our stay...it was not nearly long enough!
Owner response:Ari, thanks for the kind words. We love sharing our home with families like yours who appreciate the good life. I hope to see you in Ste Maxime or at your lovely B&B, The Pitcher Inn, in Vermont. Kimberley
