West Yellowstone cabin description

Mountain View Cabin is situated on a beautiful 20-acre property nestled in the majestic mountains of Montana. There is a main cabin and a smaller cabin that are connected by a short walkway, and they are always rented together. The spacious 1 BR/1 BA main cabin was built in 2007 and offers stunning views from every room. It sleeps 4-6 people. The smaller cabin, built in 2009, sleeps 4. Combined, there is room for 8-10 people. These cabins are in a perfect location for visting Yellowstone Park & fly fishing. The Madison River is one mile away as the crow flies - a short 2 mile drive - and several lakes are close by. West Yellowstone, the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park, is only 25 minutes away.

Location: Nestled between several mountain ranges, rising up as high as 11,000 ft., the main cabin offers stunning views from the wraparound deck. Relax in the hammock or one of the deck chairs as you drink in the peaceful sights and sounds of nature. Since both cabins are situated on a 20 acre property there is plenty of privacy. The nearest neighbor cabin is about a quarter mile away. Wildlife frequent the area, making it a perfect location for photographers and nature lovers. The most common animals to be seen are moose, elk, mule deer, pronghorn antelope, rabbits, bald eagles and coyotes. On rare occasions, you might even spot a bear or wolf in the surrounding area on rare occasions, if you're fortunate.

Fishing and activities: These cabins are located in the midst of exceptional fly fishing country. The #1 rated blue ribbon trout fishing river, the Madison, is only one mile away as the crow flies - a short 2 mile drive. If you prefer lakes, you can choose from six different ones, ranging from 2 to 10 miles away: Hebgen Lake, Henry’s Lake, Quake Lake, Cliff Lake, Wade Lake and Conklin Lake. Each one is unique and offers breathtaking scenery. There are local places to rent boats, kayaks and canoes, buy fishing gear, sign up for guided fishing trips, or just ask some advice from the experts. There are also 4 restaurants within 5 miles of our cabins and there are numerous hiking, mountain biking, and horse trails only a short walk or drive away.

Yellowstone Park: In only 25 minutes you can be in the town of West Yellowstone, the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. You’ll enjoy fishing its rivers and lakes or touring the park’s magnificent scenery. Yellowstone Park is world famous for its geysers, wildlife, waterfalls, and its unique mix of a wide variety of beautiful geothermal features; from mud pots and mud volcanoes to incredible hot spring terraces. You can swim in the Firehole River or soak in natural hot spring pools. There
are several visitor centers with wonderful displays and movies explaining where all this beauty came from. Yellowstone Park and the hundreds of miles surrounding it are definitely a must see.

We just got home from Montana. We stayed in the cabin for 7 nights - it was perfect. Yeah, we drove a lot, but found anywhere you stay you will drive if you want to see everything. It is beautiful, with great views of the mountains. We have two teenage girls and they loved it too. We were approx 30 minutes from Yellowstone, which was good for us. When we left the park this was the perfect place to return too. No tourists, and very quiet. We felt it was perfect and we loved the area. We would highly recommend this.

Thanks, Alan for what has been called, "The best vacation ever!" We could not have asked for anything more. The cabin was quite comfortable with amazing views everywhere you turned. It was very clean and had everything we needed for our week long stay. Each morning I was greeted by a mother antelope and her twins grazing in front of the picture window. At night the sky was flooded with stars. The porch was a perfect spot for barbecuing and enjoying a glass of wine. There were so many great places to see nearby and of course, Yellowstone National Park was the best. We spent two days there; one on horseback. We also visited waterfalls, went canoeing in a crystal clear lake and went to an old gold mining town. We took long hikes and shorter ones just to pick wild flowers. We cannot wait to return.

The cabin was perfect for our family of seven. Our boys and the grandparents slept in the "cozy cottage," while my wife, daughter and I spent the night in the main cabin. There was plenty of room in the cabin for us all to relax and eat. Upon arrival the property was spotless (Thanks Elizabeth and Rocky.). The pictures on this site do not do the views from this cabin justice--talk about picture windows! While grilling on the back deck one night, it hit me: I could look at those mountains (visible in every direction) every day for the rest of my life and never grow tired of them. Like a lot of others who've commented here, we used the cabin as our base camp for day trips to the National Parks nearby; and for that it's great. However, we will be back to experience more of what the Madison canyon area has to offer. The beauty here rivals that of Yellowstone and Teton. In fact, I'm sure that if this were part of Yellowstone, it would be packed with anglers, hikers and gawkers. It's just that beautiful. You can't go wrong staying here. Take the time to chat with the wonderful couple that cares for the cabin, Rocky and Elizabeth. What friendly and interesting folks they are. Rocky can fill you ion on what the locals like to do in the area. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and make sure we had a great time. Best vacation ever. We have to do this one again.

We stayed here for five nights. Our kids slept in the little cabin, and the grown-ups stayed in the main house. It is a charming house, in a beautiful area. The surrounding mountains are spectacular. Our primary reason for staying here was to take our kids to Yellowstone, and the distance was further than we thought. I think if we stayed this far out again, we would make sure to take advantage of some of the activities closer to the cabin's location. We felt like we missed out on some wonderful hiking and local opportunities and spent a lot of time driving. It was not the best idea to use this as a jumping off point for an extensive visit to Yellowstone. The cabin is very clean and comfortable, but some of the blinds are broken, and the telescope in the picture doesn't work, so make sure you bring some binoculars! We saw some wonderful bird life, a herd of antelope, and a charming party of prairie dogs. I would definitely recommend this cabin to friends and family, especially if they were going to spend some time fishing and hiking nearby. As an aside, the kitchen needs a couple of cutting boards and some mixing bowls.

Owner response: We would like to start out by saying that we are glad are guests had a good time at the cabin. The cabin is about a 20 to 25 minute drive from the west entrance; which is less than most people drive to get to work every day; including me. Montana is a big place and unless you plan on staying in a hotel in West Yellowstone everything is going to be anywhere from a 15 to 90 minute drive to get to the park; so in reality we are not far, as many have mentioned in other reviews. We do apologize for the broken pull string on the blind. Thses were are first guests of the year and we were not aware of this and would could have easily fixed it in short time. As for the telescope it works quite well; not sure why they had trouble dialing in a clear image. Finally, the last time we checked the kitchen was fully stocked but we checked again to ensure that nothing was missing. We take great care of our cabins so that our guests have everything they need to have a funfilled time visiting one of nature's most amazing places and from the sounds of it, the overall visit from the guests was quite positive.

This was our first trip to the Yellowstone area. Now we know why our son and daughter-in-law recommended it so highly. The cabin was very cozy with spectacular views and numerous chances to see the pronghorn antelope and enjoy the star filled night sky. We appreciated Rocky's helpful information about the area and his company to cheer on the "Saints."

Loved seeing all the wildlife and taking all our road trips. We have always wanted to come to Montana so this is where we honeymooned and we wouldn't change a thing. Hope to be back soon.

The cabin was great! What a wonderful place to explore Yellowstone from. The kids particularly enjoyed swimming in Firehole Canyon and seeing the buffalo out in the Lamar Valley. We also had fun exploring the area here around Cameron. Mesa Falls was beautiful, and the hike up Sheep Creek Trail was one of the best hike we've had in years! Rocky and Elizabeth's hospitality was the icing on the cake. Thanks so much.!

Thanks so much for letting us stay in this cozy and comfortable cabin! We had a great time watching wildlife, walking, swimming, BBQing, making photos, talking to Rocky and enjoying the Lakes and much, much more! Hope to be back some day. Thanks again, Au revoir!
