Great secluded getaway from it all.
Great secluded getaway from it all.
Three adult couples just got back from La Troza. We stayed from April 12 through the 20th. I travel and stay at VRBO listing about 4-5 times a year. This is my 6th trip to Puerto Vallarta and we had a wonderful time at La Troza. Renee could not have been more helpful. She was perfect and responded to lots of my very specific questions. The house is very clean and comfortable. The AC units in the bedroom are the newer style and work great! The cook/maid and her husband Delores (boat and houseman) were wonderful and kind. Always there to please. We had plenty of room to relax and we were pampered. A few extras we did while at the home. 1. We had chef dinner service three times while there. Renee owns La Palapa in town which just happened to be one of my favorite restaurants in PV. The dinners were high end, four course meal and prefect. I highly recommend it. 2. We had a fishing charter pick us up at the house. Delores takes the home panga boat to the fishing boat. This means you don't have to go into Boca and catch a taxi to the marina. A major plus. We did the same with the ADA sailboat. Which is high end with staff on the boat just for us and plenty of snorkel gear. 3. Get the massage at the house one day. Great way to relax even more. And very reasonable. Some CONS. And I always have some. There are no AC units downstairs, if you plan to come in the hotter months like Aug. I would make sure they install a wall unit, or two. Not a great place for small kids. There is no railing along to the top patio by the lounge chairs. Other then that I would highly recommend this place if you want to relax, read a book, make smores at night by the nightly made beach fire. Swim, snorkel and just do nothing but unplug from your daily busy routine. I have more pictures and some great video if someone would like to see this. .

Owner response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a marvelous and candid review. I think you described it well....La Troza is for nature lovers who are looking for a relaxing getaway. It was a true pleasure to have your group as our guests. We enjoyed having you and hope to see you again....at La Palapa or La Troza!
Ah La Troza, what can I say about you that hasn’t already been said? The pictures and descriptions above are spot on. The seven reviews that precede this one eloquently describe their experiences and were the determining reasons for us renting La Troza for our family gathering. I will add the following: We were allowed 13 in the villa as the youngest is 5 and could sleep with his parents. The rest of us ranged from 24-68. We were well accommodated but stretched the facilities as we had all sleep-able surfaces covered. That being said, La Troza proved to be a great villa for a large family gathering. We celebrated my wife’s 50th birthday during our stay. Rene takes care of most items personally. All you need do is ask. As for her staff, Delores and Mirabel were phenomenal. Delores is a skilled boat captain and gets you safely on/off the beach. Mirabel is a meticulous cleaner, a fabulous cook and makes the best fresh tortillas you will find anywhere in the area. Raphael will build you a fine bonfire that’s ready to light. We hiked, kayaked, snorkeled, swam, volley-balled, sunbathed, ate, drank, relaxed and became closer as a family. We whale watched, dolphin watched, bird watched, listened to the parrots squawk high above us, let the sound of the waves put us to sleep. Not one of us had anything even remotely negative to say about our stay with one possible exception (and I shared this with Rene): La Troza’s biggest strength is also her biggest weakness, in that, it is remote. If your group seeks peacefulness, it is perfect, don’t hesitate, book your vacation. If it seeks night life, you might be disappointed. While it’s just a close, 15 minute boat ride to/from Boca, a day trip is all you’ll get as you have to be back long before dark and before the afternoon winds kick up the surf. Our 20 and 30-somethings were disappointed, we oldsters were content. We highly recommend La Troza!

Adventure in Paradise!
Adventure in Paradise!
We had a wonderful, relaxing vacation at La Troza for Christmas. I was initially nervous about booking a family vacation at a house that was only accessible by boat, but we were up for an adventure. It was worth it and we had the most unforgettable trip. The boat (and very experienced driver) was available for us during the day to slip away to the local fishing village (Boca) and another village (Las Animas) was a gorgeous 20 minute walk south from the house along the coast. We also arranged for the boat and driver to take us to Puerto Vallarta for the day and dolphins swam along side us for a while, too! Maribel, the housekeeper/cook, was very nice and wonderful at keeping the house in order. Renee, the owner, was indispensable in organizing our activities and our grocery list. And when the airline lost my luggage, she generously brought some clothes for me to wear until my bags came. She organize a masseuse to come to the house for two days to give everyone massages and everyone raved about their massage. Some things to note about the house: There is a coastal walking trail that connects the villages along the shore that runs in front of the house that is open to the public. It was fun to greet the various people that came along the trail (maybe 2-10 per day), but it was never intrusive. We never had an issue with bugs, but since the house is literally on the edge of a tropical forest, we may have been lucky. Bring bug spray just in case. For the boat, there is no dock at the house and you hop onto the beach from the boat to get to the house. Dolores, the boat driver, was very experienced, but you still may get a little wet. Cell phone service can be spotty at times, but we never had a major issue. We had a toddler there and since there were 7 adults to keep an eye on her, safety wasn't a major issue. That being said, I wouldn't recommend this house for families with small children if you're not interested in keeping a constant eye on them. The porch doesn't have a railing and the pool is right next to the living room. The photos show the house perfectly (it really is that amazing and luxurious).

Heaven on Earth
Heaven on Earth
I love this place and can not wait to go back. The service was impeccible, we were picked up from the airport and whisked away on a magical vacation. Everything we needed was provided all of our favorite foods and drinks. The boat ride was a quick 10 min and then we were in paradice. It was the perfect mix of seclusion while still being within walking distance of other small resorts. We are already planning our next vacation and this time brining friends and family. This is a great place for every age and as a couple or group. It is the perfect place for a family reunion or get away. Renee the lovely lady whose family ownes this property was so thurough and I really appreciated that she speaks perfect english, turns out she is from California. I know some people are hesitant to travel to Mexico but I would encourage you not to miss out on this little piece of heaven on earth. We felt perfectly safe and sound the entire time we were there.

My family and I do a lot of traveling, so I can honestly say that I've visited some of the top beautiful destinations. My stay at this beach house will however always stand out in my memory as one of the most beautiful vacation spots I've ever traveled to. The La Troza beach house located in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, was simply gorgeous and relaxing to say the least. The area is secluded enough that you have all the privacy in the world, with the exception of a few hikers passing by on the beach every now and then. If you're looking for a romantic getaway, this is definitely the ultimate. My husband and I walked every evening to a point just 2 minutes from the beach house to watch the most amazing sunset that never failed to amaze me. If you're looking for a family trip, or even a trip with some friends, this is also a fantastic destination. The pool is a nice addition to the house if you want something different from the ocean. One of my favorite memories from the trip was when I was drinking a piña colada in the pool when suddenly a group of dolphins appeared on the horizon! And not even far off from the shore!! There is also a cool little beach town walking distance from the house called "Las Animas" where my family and I had some excellent fish for lunch and enjoyed being surrounded by the vibrant mexican culture that could be found there. My boys also had a lot of fun surfing in "Quimixto", and took a boat ride there, which is included, we just had to ask in advance for the service. There is air conditioning in the house, and the kitchen area is well equipped. I was overall extremely pleased with my stay at La Troza beach house, and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great vacation with family or friends in a stunning location.

Sigh....La Troza truly is a little slice of heaven. I rarely write reviews but our stay at La Troza was so magical that I'm moved to! We spent 3 days there on a girls' getaway. Our days were spent on the beach and in the jacuzzi and our evening dinners went on for hours under the stars. I fell asleep on a bed that I can only compare to a cloud and woke up to the sound of waves every day. Honestly, writing this review is making me sad since I know that it will be some time before I can make it back. Thank you Renee for making sure that every little thing was perfect for our stay.

We have done extensive travelling over the years and La Troza Beach house was truly amazing and a wonderful experience. It was a remarkable adventure and the pleasant memories we shared will stay with us forever. The facilities were excellent and staff was always there to please. The beach was awesome and many hours were spent in the water snorkling and watching Whales ,Rays and Dolphins. We had one day catered and the food and service was first class . We would highly recommend this secluded location and hopefully we will be back some day.

La Troza was a beautiful villa that offered a soothing and relaxing getaway. It's unique seclusion allows vactationers a retreat away from the hustle and exhaustion of many vacations. The villa and the location are picturesque. The ammenities are superb. Renee, the owner, was unbelievably accomodating and welcoming. The housekeepers came out daily and were friendly, informative, and went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. The villa is a 15 min. walk to Los Animas or a 10 min. boat ride to Boca (and then a 30 min. bus ride to Puerta Vallarta). This rental, its owner and everything about it deserve 5 stars! Definately a great find!
