Beach front cottage on the Mediterranean Sea with 2 private entries onto a small bay, excellent for swimming. Conveniently located just 1 hour from Athens, accessible from the Athens International Airport by train.
Our air conditioned cottage is a one bedroom with 2 additional beds in the livingroom area, fully appointed kitchen, open terraces with retractable awnings and spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea and mountains. We also have an additional bedroom with 2 twin beds, "the beach bungalow", which is available to include in your rental, and accommodates an additional 2 people, but does not have ac. Our water comes from the famed Loutraki springs, so you bathe in fresh spring water! We also have a comprehensive library with guidebooks, historical book and classics all relating to the area.
Private and fenced on a 1 acre Olive orchard in the charming village of Kalamaki, near Isthmia and Corinth. Located on the sea. you are just steps away from the beach and surrounded by the tranquil sound of the water gently lapping the beach. Enjoy the village of Kalamaki with its charming taverns offering fresh local fare and just 3 minutes walking distance from the Kalamaki Beach Hotel, a 5 star hotel with tennis courts, swimming pool, and tours.
You are also in close proximity to many archeological sites, including ancient Corinth, Acrocorinth, Epidavro, and Mycenae to name just a few. Just 1 hour from Athens, you can take the train in for the day to enjoy the sites and shopping there, and return to the tranquility of the sea for the night. Also, nearby are the cities of Corinth and Loutraki, offering restaurants, casino, shopping, movie theaters, night clubs, and live music.
Our home has been in the family for three generations and has been the jewel of our family. It is well maintained and has all of the special comforts such as high thread count cotton sheets, etc. We hope you can come and enjoy our home.

Dear Silvia, Well, our sojourn in Greece is over, and our stay at Mermaid Villa was everything we'd hoped for. We enjoyed the history of your grandfather's labors in building the beach cottage, and appreciated its location on the small bluff overlooking the beach and water. We spent many hours lounging in the shade of the awnings, watching the clouds and sea, just talking or playing games or eating. We also enjoyed the beach and water - snorkeling was a pleasure, and we were in close proximity to the port - Kenchrea - where the Apostle Paul departed from Greece back toward Jerusalem - WHAT HISTORY! We enjoyed and appreciated the people of Greece - we got to meet several, especially as we asked directions - and the hospitality and helpfulness. My wife and I and 16 month old had a wonderful time at the Mermaid Villa! It was perfect for us as we could make our own meals from wonderful local foods, a great little kitchen made it very easy. We would swim every day in the beautiful bay just steps away and sit on the beach or collect rocks and shells. Or just sit out and look at the amazing view! We rented a car and did day trips throughout the Peloponese, and also to Athens. The locals were very nice and most everyone spoke english. We would definately return here again. Dear Silvia, I returned from Greece on Thursday evening, and Joe left that same morning for Crete. We both fell in love with your cottage! In fact, we are considering putting you on our speed dial. Seriously though, it was exactly what we were hoping for, and we had a wonderful time in Kalamaki. About the owner: My name is Silvia Maki and I live with my husband Ray on the Garden Isle of Kaua'i in Hawaii. I own and operate a Yoga Studio in Hanalei which I opened in 1999, and my husband is a permaculture specialist with a farm and a nursery. I am first generation American, and so most of my family is in Europe, as my father's side is Greek, and my mother's side is Scandinavian. Greece has always been my home away from home, and our summer house has been in the family since my grandfather built it in 1962. It is in an unbelievable location, and we hope you can enjoy it too.

We have been all over Greece to many of the islands etc, but find that the convenience of being right on the sea is unexcelled anywhere else. You can easily stay local for your whole stay as there are wonderful tavernas offering fresh local foods and seafoods just down the road. It is the perfect get away.
