Nice family getaway

Our family, 4 adults, 2 children and 2 small dogs, stayed in mid August and I agree with previous reviewers that the house is incredibly well stocked! The caretaker lives across the street and was very welcoming and invited us to call or see her if there were any problems. The owner's brother also came by to mow the lawn and was very interested to make sure everything was OK. We had my mom with us who is in her 80's and she had no problems navigating the house. We had fires in the fire pit when weather permitted and closely monitored the 3 swans who hung out on the lake in front of us for our entire stay. The house permits a great view of thunder and lightning storms if you are lucky enough to have them during your stay. Our only disappointment was that swimming is not permitted in front of the house. Fair Haven State Park is very close and we were able to swim there but it is not the same as being able to swim in your own front yard.

Great Get Away

We enjoyed our week long stay at the house. We had six adults and a baby and had more than enough room. Large open deck for grilling and hanging out, fire pit, boat dock -- we used it all and enjoyed it completely. Had a little problem with the power which was taken care of on a Sunday so that we had no inconveniences at all. That was remarkable! Thanks for anticipating and providing for all our family needs. House was very well stocked. The frozen beer mugs were such a hit I had to purchase some when we got back and now keep them in our freezer.

Peaceful and beautiful

Our first impression was that the cottage was smaller than in picture. The reason might be that the roof of the cottage in picture is connected to the road behind, which is in the same color, making it look like a bigger roof for a bigger house. But it's actually quite big inside. There is more than enough space for 2 families that went together. There are a lot of activities in town for everyone. We rented 2 kayaks one day from the boat rental place 2 doors down ($25 each for half a day). It was very very nice that we could take turn kayaking and sitting on the deck enjoying the full view of the bay, chatting, sun bathing, watching the sails go by... We rented a boat another day ($150 for half a day) and went all the way to the lake. The husbands went golfing a lot. What I enjoyed the most was the fire pit. We made fire everyday. The kids loved it! The owner has plenty of fire wood in stock - I really appreciate that! My husband wished there were internet connection in the house. I'm not sure I want that. I think it's perfect to have the guys and kids off the computer for one whole week!

Home Away From Home

Guest: Marilyn (Coarsegold, Ca Central California)
Date of Stay: 08/04/10 Review Submitted: 08/26/10

The discription of the property as a beautiful bayfront view was very accurate. On the back deck, you had a direct view of the bay all the way to the lake. Sitting on the deck having our coffee in the AM was wonderful. We had plenty of room for all of us, in the four bedrooms plus. The home was very clean and well maintained and the linens were fresh and clean. We had a family reunion in the State Park which was very convient for us to carry what we needed to bring. We also enjoyed day trips to Cooperstown (baseball Hall of Fame) and Niagra Falls. Had dinner out at the Cottage Inn in Red Creek on route 104 and made several trips to Oswego. Which is about 12 miles away. Would have like to have attended the Renaisance Fair in nearby Sterling, but did not have enough time. What time we spent at the cottage, my grandson, fished off the back dock. He had a great time. I would recomend this home to anyone.

our family spent a wonderful week in this cottage. We have been renting vrbo property for four years.this home stands out as one of the best homes. Many extras, paper products, bug spray, laundry supplies etc. We have several young children and the extra paper towels, tissues and cleaning products helped us keep the place clean. The family that owns this homes really care about your experience and go out of their way to let you know that. Many thumbs up!! We have been renting on the bay for 25 years and have never had such a great rental experience as this past week. These folks really pay attention to detail. This place has it all.We have always had neighbors so close you could hear them breath. Not here. The view is just beautiful. Little things that we have never had at other rentals like a new gas grill, large deck with a picnic table for large seatings and a nice size umbrella table with plenty of chairs, insect repellent candles, paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags, plenty of towels and 4 beds all made up with very nice linens and spreads. The kitchen is fully loaded with everything you will need. Great TV and comfortable clean living room furniture. The dining area has a large table that will seat many. The air is a blessing if one should get a couple of very hot days. There is a great section of flat yard below the deck for outdoor games, baggo is our favorite. We rented a party boat for a day and were able to tie it up are our own dock. Just cant say enough about this Bayfront Property. We will be back. The only negative thing is that we don't own it.
