Our pristine cottage with a stunning location features 4 bedrooms ,2 full bath rooms across the road from a private beach. Enjoy the beautiful ocean views and the salty smell and sounds of the surf from a private deck.
Walk across the road to a private entrance to Drakes Island Beach, on the spectacular and tranquil north side of the island. Enjoy the afternoon breeze in the shade of the rear private deck. House includes washer, dryer and dishwasher. The maximum of six renters with a limit of 4 additional day visitors is strictly enforced, so the house can be maintained at a very high standard.
The property is close to many shops and dining places as Route One is minutes away. Once on Drakes Island, you may not want to leave since the island is surrounded by the Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve and Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge . Site seeing is available with Kennebunkport and Ogunquit, both only a few miles away.

This cottage is well-equipped and very, very clean. Excellent condition and very nicely decorated. Located at the quiet north end of Drakes Island, well away from the crowds near the main public beach access. There is no public beach access or parking nearby, so the beach is all yours. It is located near the Wells Reserve a.k.a. Laudholm Farm, which is a great place to walk or jog and explore. The beach owned by the preserve is part of the Rachel Carson wildlife refuge, and there are no houses at all on that part of the beach, which ends in a beautiful tidal river. Great tide pooling there at low tide and my kids were in heaven hunting for crabs, hermit crabs, shrimp, starfish, etc. I can't stress enough how desirable this north end location is for getting away from the crowds. If you are not familiar with Drakes Island, it is a place I have been going to for 35 years in the summer. They have a great rec program for kids, and there is a "little kids camp" for ages 3 to 7 three mornings a week. Big kids, over 8, have camp five mornings a week. A great break for Mom and Dad. This is run through the DIIA, which owns the community house with two tennis courts, two playgrounds, and a basketball court. Weekly renters can join for a small fee. The beach is good for surfing, boogie boarding, etc. An ice cream truck makes the rounds a few times a day, something my kids never forget! If you want a memorable family vacation, Drakes is the place,and this cottage iS perfect. We are a family of five, and it was just right for us.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.
