About Siesta Key Beach;
Siesta Key Beach is central Sarasota's gateway to the sparkling waters of the Gulf of Mexico, an island that combines luxurious amenities with a relaxed vibe that appeals to both visitors and locals.

On the east side of this eight-mile long barrier island is Sarasota Bay and Florida's intracoastal waterway. It's a scenic trail for boaters interested in exploring the mangrove forests that dot the area, dropping a line for snook or pompano, or cruising to Sarasota's dockside restaurants and pubs. On the island's west side are Siesta Key's glorious white sand beaches -- ranked number one in America in 2011 by Dr. Beach -- and the calm waters of the Gulf. Take an early morning walk while dipping your toes in the surf; build sand castles, search for shells and soak up the warm sunshine in the afternoon; then find a comfortable spot in to view the postcard-perfect moment when the sun dips below the horizon and paints the sky in strokes of red and orange.

Down at the south end of Siesta Key you'll find more restaurants, shops and public beaches, as well as marina and boat rental facilities. Within minutes, you can putter in a pontoon boat or slice through waves in a high-powered jet ski. Try parasailing for more high-flying adventure, where you'll experience a unique view of Siesta Key while suspended from a parachute over 100 feet in the air. Or exercise more than just your sense of wonder by renting a bike or a kayak to explore the island on your own.

There's more to Siesta Key than just beaches and water. This island is a destination for all who stay or live in the Sarasota area thanks to the wide variety of entertainment and dining options that stretch its length. On the north end, a short walk from one of Siesta's large expanses of public beach, lies Siesta Key Village. In the village's quaint few blocks you'll find dozens of shops that cater to the island lifestyle, offering necessities like groceries and hardware alongside souvenirs and bathing suits. Siesta Key Village restaurants -- most with large, open-air dining -- range from pancake and egg joints to award-winning fine dining spots. No matter how fancy, though, dress codes are always casual: Sandals are not only allowed, they're expected.

                                What a wonderful opportunity it was to stay in this beautiful home on Siesta Key! The owner genuinely went out of her way to make sure I had all of the necessary information for my trip, along with weekly emails prior to my stay, regarding restaurant deals and places of interest. When we arrived at the home, it was more incredible than we imagined. And talk about stocked and full of all the amenities you could imagine! Spending our mornings on the lanai by the huge Jacuzzi was quite the way to start each day. We hardly left the neighborhood and took advantage of the great ‘Village’ and walking the Siesta Beach, and seeing the Key’s amazing homes. Shopping, dining and entertainment were all very handy. We truly enjoyed being able to just relax at the house and enjoy the amazing weather (yes - in late November!) It was an awesome vacation! We truly hope to be able to take advantage of this home in Paradise again soon.

                                We've stayed at this property in the past, very clean and well maintained. The listing description and photos are totally accurate, and you really are minutes to the best beach in the us. We stayed for a month, and took advantage of the exceptional fishing virtually at our doorstep, not to mention the magnificent, warm and clean waters of the Gulf for swimming. Bob & Susan were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and always available to answer any question. I guarantee they will make your stay memorable.. Bob suggested a local flea market we visited that has many exotic tropical food items that we enjoy but are almost impossible to find. You are also only a short walk to Siesta Village, which is loaded with restaurants and shops, and Sarasota is only a short drive. This is really a one of a kind location. In short, I would not hesitate to recommend this property to any friend or relative, and plan to return every year. Brad & Jan - Montvale

                                This was our first visit to the US. coming from Iceland was a long trip but spending the first week at Disney was incredible. This home was spectacular and so relaxing for my family. Having temps in the 70's was so amazing in December, at home it is in the single digits. The beach was unbelievable and much better than the ads we saw. Susan & Bob were great hosts and gave us a tour of the areas amenities. They keep this property to a very high standard and were so gracious to deal with. we recommend this property and have our cousins booking for next year as well. We especially loved the dock for fishing and rented Kayaks for the week. They delivered and picked them up for great convenience. Meandering through the Canals on siesta was breathtaking and so relaxing.

                                We so appreciate the time we spent at the 'Custom Waterfront Estate' for the Christmas Holidays. My 82 year old mother enjoyed the Hot Tub very much. It was great for her arthritis and we had a hard time getting her to leave for the beach. Amy & Todd rented fishing rods and loved catching fish from your dock. The house was perfect for our family of 9 and everyone had their own space to relax. the neighbourhood was amazing and your next door neighbor was so nice to our kids.

                                I hope everything was in its proper place. We didn't have any problems with anything and truly enjoyed the location of your home. Other than a couple of the nights being a little cooler than expected all in all it was a great vacation. Thanks again and hope to get down there again in the coming year. We just got hit with 8 inches of snow today and the temperatures in the teens. Maybe I should have booked Christmas too! We just received our $500 security deposit in the mail.

                                Firstly, I will say Siesta Key is a phenominal vacation destination and my family and I enjoyed the area immensely. We have used VRBO many times and this is the first time we have felt the need to post a review in this manner. A couple of smaller issues, the property is rather out dated and is not in any way "luxurious" or "very high end". Many issues exist such as very dirty patio furniture and hot tub, kitchen cabinet doors and drawers that only open and close when others are moved due to the unserviceable hinging. Irattic wifi, dead batteries in all remotes, junk shop flatware and crockery, missing utensils etc. The location of the property is very pleasant, but many of the houses, like this one, are in desperate need of upgrading. I wont dwell on the dated issues with the property as the MAIN issue with this place - in our minds - overshadows the other problems here. Any potential holiday makers should take note.... The owners live in the property in the garage! This is, as far as we are concerned, therefore a sub lease and NOT a vacation property and this MUST be stated as it even breaks the rules of the owners own lease agreements. This shouldve been made aware to us and as result we couldve said thank you but we will pass. We didnt expect to be sharing/living with the owners here, particularly in respect of the large cost for this place. It made it very strange and a bit awkward as we are very private people. I apologise if this is the norm and we shouldve expected this but in all the times we have used VRBO, in both Sarasota and beyond, we have NEVER had this situation before. So, buyer beware! I would thouroghly recommend Siesta Key, but with all the choice on here.... I would stay somewhere else!

                                Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

                                Owner response: It just goes to show you cannot please everyone all the time. We strive to keep our properties at the peak of maintenance and have done so for 12 years. We have had over 180 guests and it is very rare to hear complaints, especially when they do not verbalize to us. Have a great day.

                                We used the Jacuzzi, but without the heating. We used the ambient temperature of the Jacuzzi to bring some relief to our overheated bodies from the day at the beach.Your assessment of the quartz sand on the beach was entirely accurate. It's amazing how cool to the beach remains even while the sun is beating down on it. And it's so great for jogging too because the sand is so hard packed. Thank you for sharing this great home!

                              The Unique Benefits at this House:
                              Relax on Siesta Key Beach - A #1 Beach in America About Siesta Key Beach; Siesta Key Beach is central Sarasota's gateway to the sparkling waters of the Gulf of Mexico, an island that combines luxurious amenities with a relaxed vibe that appeals to both visitors and locals. Try para sailing for more high-flying adventure, where you'll experience a unique view of Siesta Key while suspended from a parachute over 100 feet in the air. Or exercise more than just your sense of wonder by renting a bike or a kayak to explore the island on your own.
