The location of this condo is very good....close to Balboa Park (great place to visit) and a $10 cab ride to the Gas Lamp Quarter! The check-in procedure was very simple and Nadine was very prompt in answering our questions. The proximity to the airport offered interesting views of the take-off and landings of the jets but did sometimes present a noise disruption. However, the interior of the condo is not as pictured in the photos....clutter everywhere, very uncomfortable furniture in the living room, foosball table stuck in front of the fireplace. The mattresses were hard and uncomfortable, the bedding and pillows very old and tired looking! The place reminded us of a college frat house......not properly readied for guests at all! In addition, we find the owner's requirement to file this review prior to getting our deposit back to be much like being held hostage to her whims.

This apartment's location is superb; easy access to downtown San Diego, whether driving or walking, as well as to the highway for out-of-town trips to coastal beaches and towns, Torrey Pines State Park, etc., and no time to get to/from the airport. For example, we walked easily to Balboa Park, which no one should miss when visiting San Diego. Comfortable accommodations for 4, well-equipped kitchen, two full bathrooms plus upstairs powder room. I would definitely stay at this location again and would recommend it to others, principally for the location.

The condominium was very spacious and perfect for the four of us. We loved the view of the waterfront at sunset and enjoyed it as we barbecued. We enjoyed being so close to Balboa Park and Little Italy. Happy Hour and the take out restaurants on India Street were wonderful. San Diego is a great place to visit and we had a terrific time!

The location of this property is great....seemingly close to everything, including major highways. Having the bedrooms on a separate level is a nice feature. The views are great and the reserved protected parking is great as street parking is not always convenient. I took frequent walks and always felt very safe. The unit provides the flexibility of eating in when tired of eating at restaurants.

We spent a long weekend in San Diego to relax and unwind, this was the perfect location...near downtown, the airport, Balboa park, and plenty of beaches. We had a car, but it would be easy to get around without one as well. We were there during the blackout on 9/8 and we found plenty of candles in the condo to keep us going and lots of nice people in the neighborhood!

Three of us stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed the condominium very much. The location is really great, and we enjoyed watching the airplanes approach/land. It was quiet at night. The kitchen is very well stocked with utensils and cooking equipment. We enjoyed the nearby Hob Nob restaurant. We were very pleased with our VRBO choice, and highly recommend staying at this location.

Overall we were satisfied with the condo and its location in San Diego. Everything we wanted to visit was minutes away and the parking was very convenient. The condo was in good shape with plenty of room to sleep and relax. We did have a minor problem with a water leak from the refrigerator and did not receive instructions on how to get the deposit refunded.

We stayed 4 nights in June 2011, we had 6 with us and still didn't feel crowded. The bathrooms were clean & beds were comfortable. Location was great for our family, only about 7 minutes to sea world and beach areas & even closer to downtown gas lamp area. Parking was never an issue for our 2nd car that was we parked on street. We would recommend to anyone & probably will stay again ourselves.

Nice location and so close to Balboa Park. Well furnished. (The week we stayed there, the refrigerator's ice maker wasn't working and the refrigerator was leaking water on the floor every day... Also took over 5 wks to receive the refundable deposit). Other than that, the weather was great and we enjoyed the two levels of the home and the garage parking!
Owner response:I have a home warranty on the unit, so that if anything breaks it will be fixed by the home warranty company -- even the icemaker. But you have to let me know when something breaks, so that I can call it in for service. And deposits are refunded after a Review is posted, and deposit refund instructions are sent. So that time frame is up to the Traveler. Thanks! Enjoy your stay!

We had a problem with the condo being double booked, so even though we were paid through PayPal for 3 nights, we were informed a few days before the trip that we would need to go to a hotel for a night. Even though we were fully paid and the emails and phone calls confirmed our stay, at that point they said we didn't fill out a contract, which they had never mentioned before. The hotel stay was an inconvenience and more costly. The owners paid the room cost, but we had to pay extra dog and parking fees ($60.00) which they would not reimburse, even though we had not caused the problem. We did ask 2 times to have them reimburse us for the extra charges, but they would not respond to our emails or phone calls. When we did get to stay in the condo, it wasn't nearly as upscale as the pictures looked on the internet, so overall we were quite disappointed.
Owner response:I disagree. And so do the other 79 guests that have stayed at this unit over the last 4 years. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but, for one, there are actually a couple items in the unit that are MORE upgraded than the pictures show. I have a new HD 1080 Samsung television in the living room and a new $1200 gas grill on the on the balcony. I have not posted the new pictures yet. So that that comment is not accurate. I am sorry if you did not enjoy your stay. I thought I worked out things really well for you, especially since you had a dog. I found a 4 star hotel in downtown San Diego for one night in the gaslamp district, walking distance to everything, that took pets. I put a lot of time and effort in to find this hotel and even put in some of my own money to book you a reservation. On top of that, I gave you a super cheap rate at my unit for 2 nights. I just wish you had asked for a refund instead of having me make all these arrangements for you. I spent a lot of time, energy and even money to help you out. I even sent you a coupon for a free night at this unit another time. But based on your review, I do not expect you to use that coupon. Because of this review, I am no longer willing to rent my unit for any reason for such a cheap rate. It will always be more than $99/night for any reason at this point.

The view is AMAZING. It is closely located to the marina, downtown and the airport. Expect to hear planes flying overhead throughout the day and night though it didn't hinder any of our sleep. The water filter on the fridge needed changing, resulting in a trickle so we had to get our own drinking water from the store. Other than that, everything was there and ready for us. You can easily cab to downtown or make the walk due to its very convenient location. Bottom line, you can't beat the daily sunsets from the living room or master bedroom.

The condo on Banker's Hill is in a very nice neighborhood. Even though there was secured parking, I felt safe to park our rental car on the street at night. The building itself was lovely. The house was well cared for and all the amenities listed were in good condition. And it was very near to the airport. If I had to make one negative comment, I'd say that the planes flying overhead could be a bit noisy when the windows were open, but when the windows were closed the sound was muffled. AC was excellent!

We would definitely stay here again and recommend this place to our families and friends.

My family followed the Phillies baseball club out west for an Easter Break sweep. Midnight check-in worked out splendidly. Walked downhill to nearby car rentals off the airport. Could have been just as happy walking and taking public transportation if there wasn't so much to see and do in the area. La Jolla to Coronado, to a low rider car show in south San Diego. Walked to Zoo at Balboa Park. All of us were very comfortable in the unit, although the reflection of landing planes in windows and mirrors took a little getting use to. Can't wait to come back.

Perfect location in the heart of San Diego, you could get to any part of San Diego within minutes. Centrally located my wife and i jogged all the way to the San Diego Convention Center and back. Beautiful bay view to watch cruise ships dock and the airplanes land and take off, the condo is so quiet you wouldn't even know you were by an airport !!!!!

Condo was well furnished and very centrally located to all the San Diego attractions. It was a very short drive to Old Town, Sea World and the San Diego Zoo. We were able to walk to Balboa Park in the morning for a jog in the park. We were also able to play some tennis at the Balboa Tennis club. Weather was awesome and overall a great spring break for our family!!

Great time staying here with my friends for my birthday weekend. The location is set perfect between downtown the 5 and Balboa Park. The cab rides from the Hawthorne and Gas Lamp district were less than $10 bucks and when we called the cab driver was in front in less than five minutes. The condo has the best view from the kitchen window above the sink. It frames the downtown high rises perfectly. Wish the pine tree didnt block the balcony view but the windows and balcony have awesome views of the harbor and bay. The bedrooms are spaceous and comfortable. We left the windows open all weekend and with the condo being on top of the building it was the perfect mix of fresh air and rising heat. We stayed for three nights and didnt want to leave. Good times.

Four of us (two couples) needed affordable rooms to attend a three-day conference at the nearby Hyatt hotel and after searching the internet we found this condo to be a super deal. It is located within relatively-easy walking distance to shopping, eateries and the ocean. The per-nite rates were about half of what just one room at the Hyatt would have been and worked out great because all four of us could stay there. While three of us attended the conference my wife did have time to walk to nearby shopping and parks and we hardly needed our car during the stay. The condo was well appointed and had great views of the bay, airport and nearby downtown. Because of the fully-equipped kitchen, after shopping at a nearby market, we ate in for breakfast and dinner and lunched at the many small eateries near the Hyatt. The one exception was on our arrival to San Diego when we ate at Crazee Burger, 4201 30th St, which was featured on the Food Channel. (Great onion rings!) Put this great bargain condo at the top of your list!

I and three colleagues stayed at this condo while attending an international conference at the SD Convention Center. We were met by a neighbor acting as the owner's representative, who gave us a quick tour of the unit, explained the buildings facilities and provided lots of useful info about getting around in SD, things to do etc. The unit is spacious, clean, well-kept and conveniently located. The small balcony and grill were nice features. Near public transportation, restaurants, bars etc. The one glitch was that there was quite a delay in being refunded my deposit after our stay. But when the owner realized this, was extremely apologetic and offered a discount on my next stay there, or at another property. So all is well, and really nothing to complain about. Highly recommended.

We stayed in this Penthouse for a week in July and had a lovely time. We brought the kids down as well as our little dog. It is a convenient location, about a 20 minute walk to San Diego Zoo and very short drive to Sea World and the beaches. Even our dog loved the appartment! The kids liked the foosball and we enjoyed the space. Highly recommended for families.
