Year Purchased: 2005
Hello, my name is Jonathan Burke, DVM. My wife and I own a mixed animal veterinary practice in Hardinsburg,KY, Burke Veterinary Services. I also own farms on which I raise cattle and big whitetail deer and turkey. I love animals and love the outdoors. My wife, Paula, loves photography and is a member of the Breckinridge County School Board. Our children's names are Abby, age 11, and Alex, age 8. I couln't find an image of both my wife and I, so I put one of a very famous person with my wife, Paula.
Why the Owner Chose Garfield
I purchased this property because it was close to home, but private. I am "on call" most of the time and hated to leave the people I work for. Every time I "went on vacation", somebody had a veterinary emergency that I wasn't there for. When I found this property, I fell in love with it's location. It is a mile off the road, but in the middle of nowhere...no worries, no work, just fun and relaxation.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
We love entertaining family and friends at our cabin. It is the perfect place to have cookout. The kids enjoy swimming and fishing the most. You never run of things to do here, no matter what the season is or what the weather is like outside. I especially enjoy the activities building in the winter. We build a fire and play "corn hole" and pool for hours. On a snowy day, we take the kids sledding down the steep hill leading to the cabin, then get in the hot tub to warm up. We play cards, horseshoes, board games, shoot trap, hunt, fish, and much, much more. This property is my favorite place to be in the world! I especially enjoy reading the guest comment book when people write about all the fun they had.....especially when they say "BEST VACATION EVER"...and we hear it alot.

Sorry I'm just getting around to communicating...the pictures do not do justice to the absolute wonder of the farm and house! We headed down last Christmas Day...snow on the ground and the decorated tree made it extra perfect for my 82 year old aunt, daughter and son-in-law, 3 granddaughters, 2 boyfriends and Duke the boxer. The owner and his Mom were there to lead us down the hill to the home...his wife couldn't have been nicer on the phone and computer as I booked the our stay. The home was clean and having 2 bathrooms was perfect. The young folks enjoyed target and skeet shooting, the hot tub and the activity building. My Aunt was cozy and warm in front of the fire and in the front bedroom. The true charm of the home outweighs the few issues we faced...cooking two standing ribs of beef in the tiny kitchen was a challenge but so worth it! The home was the perfect place for playing games, cards and making memories. Everyone wants to come back and we certainly will next year! Thanks again for sharing this slice of heaven with us!

What a treat! We spent a relaxing 3 days here with 3 generations and had a wonderful time. The kids, big and small, enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The fire pit was a huge hit. Star gazing. Photography. Basketball in the barn. Ping pong tournament. The four younger children loved sleeping in the loft. It was clean. It was amply stocked. It was a great way to experience KY. I would definitely recommend this property to others.

We absolutely LOVED our stay at the Little Cedar Getaway! Our extended family got together for a long weekend and the cabin was perfectly suited for us. There was plenty of space for the adults and children to share, and also have enough gathering areas where the kids could play separately from the adults. The kids ranged in ages from 6-10 and they adored the pool/hot-tub, caught a ton of fish in the pond, played ping pong and games in the barn. The owners were wonderful hosts and were very helpful and easy to communicate with. We are already planning our next trip to visit again this summer and hope to make this an annual family trip! Thanks Paula and Jonathan!!
