The St. Lawrence River flowing in from Lake Ontario becomes, in the course of a few miles, so wide and so full of islands that it was called called the "Lake of the 1000 Islands." To the indians it was known as "Manatoana" or the Garden of the Great Spirit. As a vacation paradise it is world renowned. The islands, over 1800 of them, vary in size from mere points of rock to several square miles in area.
The resort building boom, at its zenith during the 1870's, caught on in the 1000 Islands. Known as the "Venice of America," the 1000 islands became a desirable summer resort for the newly wealthy.
The beauty of the islands scenery, the romantic history of the region, the purity of the air, attractions for the sportsman, be he an angler or fish, hunter for game, or a boat racer for excitement, have been the inspiration of historians, tourists, novelists and poets during the past 100 years and remain so today.
Located within minutes of the Clayton, New York mainland, Whiskey Island, three plus acres in size is sited with granite outcroppings, hardwoods, a gentle harbour with spacious boathouse and at the head of the island a guesthouse for a very private getaway. The usage of the island would be suitable for a number of couples who desire romance with catered meals or for a family experience of island living. An extraordinary experience either way.
For the Rental of Bedrooms ..... $1800-$2200/night
For the Rental of the Entire Island ............... $7500/week
