This charming, classic Parisian apartment is conveniently located just off Avenue Trudaine and square d'Anvers in the Ninth Arrondissement close to the center of Paris. It is a desirable corner apartment on the fourth floor (fifth American floor) with an elevator in a classic Haussmannien building (~100+ years old), recently cleaned on the outside. This completely renovated apartment comfortably sleeps from four to six, and is decorated with antiques, art and oriental carpets that we have collected in our lives living around the world. As a result of its corner location, the apartment gets plentiful sunshine from the East and West and is naturally very bright.
Recently renovated by an architect, this 75-square-metre apartment (807 square feet) has parquet floors, molded ceilings, and full-length windows in each room. It is designed in a "star" layout with grande entrée, two reception rooms, a large master bedroom with queen bed, a bedroom/study with 2 twin beds (and desk), a fully-equipped kitchen with high-end appliances and washer/dryer, a bathroom with a tub/shower, and a separate water closet. The separate dining room features a refinished antique wooden dining table with 6 newly reupholstered dining-room chairs. The living room has new custom-built sitting chairs and a high-end sofa bed that can sleep 2 additional guests. The kitchen is equipped with all cooking utensils, cutlery, glassware and other utensils so that you can prepare a proper french meal for up to 8 persons. There is local telephone access and free high-speed wireless internet available. A DVD library (50+), flatscreen television and home theater system allow for a relaxing evening at home...in style.
This is a bustling and lively Parisian neighborhood. Surrounding the apartment are the traditional boulangeries, cheese shops, grocery stores and many excellent bistros and restaurants that Paris is so well-known for. A neighborhood park is just minutes away. There is easy access to Metro Anvers (100 meters) and numerous other metro and bus lines. Just a five-minute walk to Sacre Coeur and Montmartre, and fifteen-minute walk to shopping areas of the Grands Boulevards (Printemps, Galeries Lafayette). Easy access to Gare du Nord and the Eurostar train to London, Brussels, and beyond.
See what others have to say.....

-"The apartment we stayed in was on Rue de Dunkerque through Frenchy Rentals.
Paula was great, all her apartments looked really good but this particular one suited our needs because we were two couples. You can check it out on the website and we also used Google earth to view it and get an idea of how far it was from everything. The apartment is beautiful, big by paris standards and spotlessly clean. Everything you could need is provided .
It only had a 200 Euro deposit which was returned immediately we left as well. Some companies I checked wanted 1000 Euro and full payment months in advance which is a concern.
The bus number 85 was outside the apartment. It went passed the Louvre, by the Seine over to Isle de la Cite,Saint Chappelle, Concergerie, Notre Dame,Pantheon,to Luxemberg Gardens so a tour of the city by local bus.The Metro Anders,is just around the corner and handy for linking up with other metro lines.Other bus lines meet there as well.including a direct bus line to the Eiffel tower which goes passed the Arc de Triomphe.
A food market on Fridays is just down the street, bars ,restaurants bakeries on every corner, supermarkets just a couple of hundred metres away. Also I booked it as its walking distance(10minutes?) from Gare de Nord to catch the train to Charles de Gaulle airport. We loved that it was a short walk up the hill to the furnicular to Sacre Coeur and on to Montmartre.
The apartment owners have provided loads of tourist information, books and local knowledge to make the visit even more enjoyable. Really help you feel like a local. I loved the market they suggested..
We found the apartment to be quiet although I do think it might get hot in Summer and if you open the double glazed windows there would be street noise.I saw they had electric fans but no air conditiioning. We were there in September so it wasnt an issue.
We loved this apartment and I highly recommend it."-

This was my first trip to Paris and we wanted to experience two neighborhoods so we rented this apartment for our first week and another in the 15th for the second week. This apartment was great for us. It was truly like a home away from home. The manager of the apartment is accessible and really has her act together so check in was a breeze. Their are two fairly large bedrooms with nice views of the Paris street. It was a pleasure waking in the morning getting the October sun coming in to the window. The apartment is clean and well kept. The pictures of the apartment are very accurate and the description is also accurate. The neighborhood is close to the main train station and really gave us a feel of what life in Paris is like. When I go back I will stay here again. Everything worked and worked well and we were at home and comfortable.

This was our second trip to Paris; the first time we stayed in a hotel. The problem with hotels is you don't get to meet Parisians so this time we decided on an apartment. We looked at many potential apartments and chose this one because of how nice it looked on the web site (this can be deceiving). When we arrived we were really pleased at how much better the apartment was when you are there. The website photos are a true reflection of the apartment; but when you get there the place just looks better. It was a warm and homely place to come back to at the end of each day. Arranging the rental was simple and straight forward. One thing you need to have for this is a PayPal account as this is how payments and deposit refunds are handled. We were met by the contact and she took the time to explain how everything worked and provides you with an extensive set of notes on what's available in your neighbourhood. Speaking of the neighbourhood; there are many restaurants within a block or two of the apartment and there are two really good boulangeries on your block. For getting around Paris you have the Anvers Metro station a block away and the Route 85 bus goes down the street in front of the apartment. Anvers is on a line that "crosses" Paris at right-angles to most other lines so Metro travel often involves a train change. This is not a problem after a day or two. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this apartment to friends. Enjoy your holiday in Paris and take time to talk to the locals.

I would recommend this beautiful space to anyone looking for a soft-place to land in Paris. We stayed four nights (August 6-10, 2011) with our two children, ages 9 and 12. They loved having their own room...and we loved ours! As mentioned in previous reviews, the beds and linens were divine...so comfy! The apartment was very clean and well equiped with everything we needed, even a wheeled shopping cart to pull home our groceries. The kitchen was spacious by french standards with a large fridge and dishwasher. Freshly ground coffee was provided in the fridge (nice touch!) Many pantry items are there for general use, ie) olive oil, tea, vinegars. I was able to prepare several meals for my family with ease. Another bonus was being located so close to the Anvers metro stop...literally a 2 minute walk away. We also loved being so close to the Sacre Coeur Basilica.. it is a lovely after dinner walk (and climb up all those stairs), and the view of Paris is amazing from up there. I would stay there a again in a heart-beat. Loved it!

This apartment could not have been better for our family of five during our 8 days in Paris in mid-March. All of the communication leading up to the stay was outstanding and all of the Paris materials available in the apartment were icing on the cake with the helpful hints from the friendly and cheerful apartment manager, Paula. The apartment afforded plenty of space for quiet reading and hanging out to re-energize each evening. The beds and bedding were super comfortable. It was such a bonus to have the wonderful kitchen (for breakfast and a light supper every day) and washer/dryer (we packed much less knowing that feature). The apartment's location turned out to be quite perfect -- we loved our Anvers Metro stop, collection of patisseries and grocery stores (including the clever Picard) within a couple blocks. The busy street views from every window were interesting and when the weather warmed, it was a bonus to be able to throw open the lovely tall windows. The apartment felt like home for our stay.

We stayed here with our 6 month old and 2 year old for almost 3 weeks over the new year of 2011 and LOVED IT. What a pleasure it was to come back to the apartment every evening. A few great points: only a 10 minute walk to Gare Du Nord (excellent for us as we had a double pram which we needed to navigate around and the RER goes direct from GDN to Galleries LaFayette and the Marias); the capaccino machine (we have never rented an apartment that has had one and as coffee lovers, we loved it); the clothes dying line in the bathroom; the size of the apartment (huge by Paris standards); the fantastic Indian restrauant across the road; the children's playground just around the corner; the Walks in Paris cards (we did many over our stay); the fabulous boulangerie's close by; the comfortable beds and quality linen and Paula who was welcoming and accommodating.......i could go on. And thank you so much for providing those little extras for children - the cot, high chair and toys - they made such a difference for us. We have stayed in apartments in Paris in previous years and we can confidently say this has been the best and especially if you are travelling with children. We were a bit anxious about managing a 2 yo in the apartment, but we were easily able to child proof it so we didnt have to worrry about her damaging things. We will definitely return to Paris (if we are lucky for 2012) and we have no hesitation in recommending this apartment to anyone we know intending to stay in beautiful Paris (except of course during the new year period when we will be there), Merci encore, et nous espérons revenir bientôt

I spent nine days in April and May 2010 at the Rue Dunkerque apartment. I was doing some research in Paris and my father and mother (in their late sixties/early seventies) came along because they had never seen the city before. I have three children (who were not with me) but I always travel with an eye for how things would work if the whole crew were along. So, 74 Rue Dunkerque worked perfectly for me and my parents and would work very well for a family of up to 5. The rooms are spacious and bright and very comfortable. The appliances worked as advertised. We never had a problem with basic services or noise or anything that made us think, "We should have stayed somewhere else." On the contrary, every day confirmed our decision to stay at Rue Dunkerque. Moreover, the location (just south of Montmartre, one block from Anvers Metro, one block from Ave. Trudaine, a short walk from Rue des Martyrs) was absolutely ideal. There are plenty of wonderful bakeries and cafes and restaurants nearby. The Friday market at Anvers (3pm - ?) absolutely made my mother's trip (she's a food writer). The Metro couldn't be more convenient. I suppose that other apartments in Paris might offer some or all of these benefits, but not all of them will come with someone like Paula to help get you settled and to answer every single question that comes up and that you can't answer on your own. She was/is absolutely phenomenal as a host: the perfect combination of professional and personal. On all future trips I am going to check first with Paula and Frenchy rentals. So, in summary, the apartment was perfect for us; Paula is amazing; I would recommend 74 Rue Dunkerque to anybody.

It was really a treat to stay in this lovely apartment. With its beautiful hardwood floors and sun-splashed bedrooms, it's wonderful just to spend time here and look down on the intersection below. Not at all noisy. We were a bit dubious about the location, but it's really great! With the street market and an easy walk to Anvers, Pigalle or ,Barbes/Rochechouart metro stops, getting around town is easy. There's even a bus that goes right by the front door! We really enjoyed the apartment and used the kitchen fairly often. There was plenty of room and the wireless internet really helped. Thanks to Paula for her hard work in getting the place ready. It really couldn't have been easier! We would definitely return here.

We spent 8 fabulous days in this apartment in Paris. My family of four (includes 2 young children) had all the comforts of home. It was so well equipped with clean linens, cooking equipment, even laundry detergent and coffee! The building is quiet and the location very safe and convenient. We walked to the bakeries and markets each morning for fresh bread and took the buses and trains around the corner to all the other neighborhoods. Our friends who visited us said it was like a San Francisco apartment with its big rooms, high ceilings, period charm and large windows. Look no further if you want to stay in this neighborhood.

We stayed in this apartment for the first week of our 3 week trip at the end of April 2008. This apartment is very nice and I highly recommend staying there. The pictures and descriptions are accurate. The place was very clean, had great appliances (washing machine/dryer and super quiet dishwasher) and the most comfortable beds of our trip. It is actually just a 1BA, not 1.5BA, but that can be seen on the floor plan in the Frenchyrentals website. Although the apartment is not located in an area that tourists stay typically, it is a pleasant neighborhood. If you don't mind all the stairs of the metro, the Anvers station is very close. If you can't do stairs, the bus stops are very close too. Bus 85 takes you to the historic center. Bus 30 takes you to Trocadero (nice Eiffel Tower view) and Arc de Triomphe. You can walk to the funicular and take that up to Montmartre. We spent the last 2 nights of our trip in a tiny very stuffy hotel in the Latin Quarter and I missed this big apartment. I don't know how hot it would be in the summer, but there is really good airflow because of all the windows.
