Our family spent the weekend and it was exactly what we would want. Log cabin, the decor, everything was perfect. It was very clean, and well maintained. We went out to eat for our meals, next time, we would for sure stay right there and not leave. We ate at the Log Den and it was very good. Excellent ribs. Would recommend it to anyone. Thank you so much for providing your lovely cabin for others to enjoy.

We celebrated my parent's anniversary at "Roughin It". There were 11 of us and we had room to spare. Main floor master suite worked well for my father who has problems getting around. There was plenty room to have fun all together as a family and yet plenty of areas to all be doing something different at the same time. There was a huge selection of DVD's & games, if the weather keeps you in. We spent hours hiking the shore of Lake Michigan which is just a short walk away. My family cooked several large meals & the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. We've rented several houses over the years for our large family and this definitely ranks right in the top! Highly recommend for a large group get together.

This home is just beautiful. We had our entire family stay here this summer and it was wonderful. We had all age ranges with us and everyone absolutely loved the home and we all had plenty of room. The house is incredibly clean, spacious, and so well decorated for the "Roughing It" theme. Everything we needed was there. The setting was so relaxing and Glidden Drive is very peaceful. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. I think it would be a great place to stay anytime of year. Thank you for a great vacation!

We just got back from staying at "Roughin It". It was beyond expectation! The cabin was absolutely breathtaking - it was warm and welcoming - you felt at home when you stepped in the front door. In fact, there were days we wished it would rain so we could just stay in the cabin and relax! The amenities were fabulous - the Metzlers thought of everything you could possibly need. We had 8 adults and 2 little ones - we had plenty of room to have our own space. I cannot say enough about the experience. This is the place to stay - no need to look any further!

An Excellent place to stay in Door County

We just returned from a trip to Door County and stayed at this wonderful log home. We were 9 including children and not only this was our first visit to the area, it was also the first time we stayed at a log home. The place is amazing, with winding roads along the beach and this spacious house with lots and lots of rooms and a beautiful deck to just to relax and have a coffee or drink. In particular we all felt the hospitality and clean atmosphere that greeted us from the very first moment we stepped in. Steve did an excellent job of providing details, lots of emails to assist and always available if anything needed. Kids had so much fun in and around the house. The house is close enough to all the amenities and shopping, but at the same time, gives that retreat as needed. We will definitely recommend this place to our friends and to anyone who wants to experience the beauty of Door County. Still room for improvement: A flat screen tv on the main hall will help. Our kids were always running down to the basement while we were looking for them at dinner. Thanks Steve and Ann. You were fabulous.

Incredible Cabin in an Amazing Location!

We stayed at “Roughin It” at the end of September and it was a perfect time with the leaves changing colors and autumn in the air. The cabin sits on a beautiful piece of property, walking distance from the beach on Lake Michigan, and a tranquil backyard. The cabin itself is quite impressive and the owners did a great job decorating, with each room having a different theme. The owners were very helpful, had great communication throughout the rental process, and gave some good recommendations on restaurants and things to do in the area. Our only regret was not staying here longer. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home!

A couple of friends and I had the great fortune to spend 3 nights in this beautiful home at the end of September. The owners of this home haven't missed one detail in the design of their luxury cabin. We enjoyed beautiful fires in the fireplace and spent time relaxing on the comfortable back porch. The house is extremely roomy and I can imagine would be very comfortable for 8 or more people. We also really enjoyed the location as it is off the main drag, so the only sound you hear is that of Lake Michgan. Lovely! The only recommendation we would make is to post more pictures on your VRBO page to show off all the beautiful spaces in the house. Thank you for providing such a comfortable oasis.

A group of 8 of us stayed here over Labor Day weekend, and could not have had a better experience. This cabin, if possible, is better than it looks. We enjoyed nights out by the firepit, grilling during the day, and had plenty of room to relax and spread out. Everything was well stocked, clean, and just plain luxurious. Everyone was blown away, and are hoping to return next year; those that didn't come were jealous. Thank you to Steve for being so helpful and answering our (many) questions before arriving. We can't wait to go back!

Wow - what a wonderful cabin! My wife and I stayed there one weekend in Feb 2009 and it was the most relaxing weekend we have ever had. It has everything a person could want - fantastic setting, superb accomodations, and plenty of space. From the open floor plan, to the bedrooms, 25 ft tall fireplace, lots of windows, cushy furniture, everthing is top notch. All that but it is also secluded because of the ample space between other houses and the woods in between. Would be a great place for a mini family reunion. You have to see this place to believe it!

This is the most spectacular and beautiful log home in Door County. From the minute I opened the door, I knew our stay was going to be wonderful. We hardly did anything because no one wanted to leave the beautiful surroundings. The web site photos hardly do the home justice. Every bedroom had its own full bath. In the sitting room off the Master Suite, the early risers enjoyed coffee without waking the rest of the house. The decorating was tasteful, comfortable and perfect for a log home. I can’t say enough about it. It was perfect for our now married family, spouses and grandchildren.

If you want to stay in the most beautiful log home you have ever seen, this is the house for you!!! Eight people had complete privacy when we wanted it and plenty of room in the great room in front of the fireplace, on the deck, at the huge dining table or even cooking in the kitchen!!! My husband and I highly recommend this rental home to anyone interested in true luxury accommodations at a very reasonable price! Deer in the back yard! Momma turkey and two babies munching on our leftover bread! The sound of the waves of Lake Michigan crashing through the bedroom windows at night! And the weather! Picture perfect trip! Thank you Steve and Ann for allowing us to share your beautiful home!

We had a wonderful time at this vacation home. Our first three generation, three family getaway. Plenty of private area for everyone. Clean, cozy and comfortable would be good words to describe this home. We enjoyed the short ride to many activities and evenings in the game foom followed by late nights full of laughter at the fire pit. Owners gave the name of "Roughin It" to the property. First class accomodations all the way is what we experienced. Looking forward to our next visit to "Roughin It".

A fantastic getaway location for any size group. Our group had 10 people and everyone had their own "space". The location of the "cabin" made it easy to get to any part of The Door in a short amount of time. We had a great time!!

This a great get-away retreat. Perfect golfers retreat for two or three couples. Golf in door county, doesn't get any better than that. Great place for boaters from across the bay. Beautiful. JoAnn Zelm
