This is Sandpiper Cottage. We love this house! So we spend every free weekend here, and only rent it out on a very limited basis. We are in a great location at Beachwalk. We're close to Lake Michigan, but are on a side street with little traffic and away from the hustle and bustle of the main drag.
Do you enjoy cooking? You can leave your Kitchenaid and your Cuisinart home and enjoy our well-equipped gourmet kitchen. Do you like gardens? Ours includes perennials, ornamental grasses, roses, and a rock garden, all of which attract a wide variety of birds and butterflies. Our stone patio is a terrific place to just sit, enjoy the garden, watch birds and listen to the fountain in the nearby pond. Our portable fire pit is great for a cool evening (s'mores anyone?).
Because we actually live in this house, it is rented out minus several rooms (master suite, wine cellar, craft room) that are locked off. That still leaves plenty of room though! The first floor has an open-plan living/dining/kitchen area with stone fireplace, perfect for casual entertaining or just hanging out. There is a comfy front porch and a screen porch off the kitchen/dining area.
The first floor bedroom has a queen-sized bed and full bath next to it. The huge second floor room has two twin beds (and two futons for extra sleeping space) and a full bath, as well as a gas fireplace, exercise equipment, TV, table and chairs for games or dining and a deck overlooking the garden and pond. The garden level has a bedroom with two twin beds, a full bath and an adjoining family room with TV, leading to the patio and garden through French doors.
The house is stocked with a variety of beach toys, games, books, information about local wildlife and attractions and, of course, a little red wagon to help you get all your stuff down the boardwalk to the best stretch of beach in Indiana. So whether you're looking for a place for a family vacation, for a gathering of friends, or for a romantic fall getaway, I think you'll find our cottage a very special place. Spring and fall weekend rentals have the option of late Sunday afternoon check-out at minimal extra expense.
Our home and neighborhood are welcoming to all races and ethnic groups. And finally, our beloved standard poodle would be happy to share her home (and even her treat jar) with your well-behaved dog. Family allergies to cats prevent us from hosting feline guests, but birds and other little critters are welcome at no extra cost. An extra damage deposit is required to deal with the sometimes unavoidable doggy mishap, but will be promptly refunded if no damage has occurred.

Non-prime ..... $1800/week.
All Weekly Rentals Are Friday-Friday at 4:00 PM.
Spring and Fall ................. $600/weekend (Friday 4 PM to Sunday 12 Noon)
Long Weekends Spring and Fall .. $700/weekend (Friday 1 PM to Sunday 7 PM).
Pets at No Extra Cost, But Additional Refundable Damage Deposit.
