The Lone Star House is a private two bedroom, one bath guest house with 800 sq. ft. It is located on a private corner of the owner's second home property. It is on the second level providing park-like views and seclusion for guests. The windows look out onto the pool or into the wooded area behind house, not into neighboring houses. The property has plenty of off-street parking and is in the Central Austin/West Campus area, located within walking distance to University of Texas campus and convenient to shopping, tourist attractions, downtown, 6th Street, the State Capitol, Lake Travis, and most live music venues. House is in a unique neighborhood with lots of trees and privacy and a convenient location within an active community. Enjoy all the comforts of home without the hassle of a hotel.
Complete with a fully equipped kitchen, dining table for 6, and a living area with an HDTV with DISH Network and a DVD/VCR player. We provide a small library of movies as well. The main living area also features beautiful wood floors and great views of the pool and wooded area behind house. The master bedroom features a king-size bed and overlooks the pool while the second bedroom has a double bed and a twin bed and a second TV. Both bedrooms have large, mirrored closets and lots of windows with natural light. The bathroom is a full bath with a tub/shower combo. We provide bath towels and a separate set of towels for use at the pool. A cedar dog bed was also recently added to the living room for your fine furry friends.
The living room has a full-size futon that can be used as an additional sleeping area and a second couch provides additional seating. There is a utility area with a stacked washer/dryer combo. Kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave, gas stove, electric oven, programmable coffeemaker, blender, toaster, and a refrigerator with icemaker.
Property is owner's second home, so pool and yards are for guest use only. Fenced back yard features a large, PRIVATE swimming pool with a heated hot tub and a deck for entertaining. Property also has plenty of off-street parking. The house is on second floor above a lighted carport that can be used for covered parking or for entertaining. Property is close to major bus stops, restaurants, museums, and lots of local hot spots. Only a $8-$10 cab ride or a 5-10 minute drive from the 6th Street/Warehouse/Downtown Districts.
Free wireless Internet is also provided on the entire property. You can even surf the Internet by the pool! Pets and kids over age 5 are welcome! Dog bed, pet bowls, & poop bags are provided. Please note, WE DO NOT RENT TO SMOKERS and smoking is not allowed anywhere on the property.
GO GREEN! We strongly encourage recycling and composting at our properties. We also try to use environmentally-friendly cleaning products and detergents. Upon request, all weekly rentals will come with complimentary bus passes for all tenants, good for unlimited rides for up to 7 days or a month, depending on length of stay. Or rent a bike at any of the nearby bike shops. Daily and weekly rates available. See the city on an eco-friendly budget!
***RENTAL RATES EXPLAINED: We set our nightly rate to include all taxes and cleaning fees because we thought it would be simpler for potential renters to figure out how much their total stay would cost. In order to be more conducive with the site and to be comparable to other vacation rentals and lodging options, we have removed the tax amount from the nightly rate. Rental fee already includes all cleaning fees, but there is a required 15% hotel tax (6% to State of Texas, 9% to City of Austin).
TOTAL COST PER NIGHT
March-September: $196 + 15% = $225 per night. Weekly rate is $ $1174 + 15% = $1350.
October-February: $174 + 15% = $200 per night. Weekly rate is $1044 + 15% = $1200.
5th ANNIVERSARY RATE UNTIL MARCH 7, 2012:
$152 + 15% = $175 per night. Weekly rate is $913 + 15% = $1050 per week
RESTRICTIONS:
- No children under 5 years of age without consent from management.
- Must be at least 25 years old to rent the property.
- WE DO NOT RENT TO SMOKERS and there is absolutely NO SMOKING on the property, indoors or outdoors. Evidence of smoking including odors, butts, or burn marks will result in a $1000 charge and possible eviction.
PET POLICY: Property is pet friendly, but they must be declared in advance. Extra cleaning fee may be applied, however, we usually account for pets with a slightly higher deposit amount that is fully refunded as long as there are no damages.
OCCUPANCY & PARTY POLICY: Overnight occupancy is limited to six (6) individuals. The house is really only designed to accommodate four people in traditional beds.
We are not a party facility. There are plenty of lovely places in Austin to rent if you are interested in having a party and we have provided a list of some of them on our website. Due to safety concerns, cleaning costs, and other issues, parties of more than 12 people are not allowed without written consent from management. An additional non-refundable fee is also required. Unapproved parties of more than 12 individuals will result in the immediate forfeiture of your deposit and possible eviction, depending on the severity of the infraction. Why the Owner Chose West Campus
I really enjoy meeting all of the different people who stay in our properties. Being so close to downtown and to the University of Texas campus means that we get to meet lots of fellow Longhorns as well as visitors from all over the globe.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The first thing most people notice about our main property is the pool and spa. Yes, it is as wonderful as it looks! It is about 12 feet deep on one end, so it stays cool in the summer months. That heated spa takes care of the few winter-like days we get in Austin. We're also within walking distance of many shops, eateries, and museums. The campus also offers movie theaters, a bowling alley, arcade, pool hall, and tons of things to see and explore. You can even hear the famous Tower Carillion bells from the yard! Even if you aren't a UT fan though, this house will put you right in the center of Austin's cultural and eclectic world.
Open 24 hours & serving some of Austin's great food. They use ingredients from local farmers whenever possible. Seasonal items, the pancakes, and the queso are local favs. www.kerbeylanecafe.com

This park is not only scenic, it is one of the few parks in Austin where you can walk your dog off-leash and let him play in the creek. Just remember to pick up after your pets!

Five of us (mom, dad, two teens, and grandma) stayed in this house, along with our two dogs, for two nights. We were very pleased with the experience - the house is small but has a very efficient layout. It is updated and clean, and was very comfortable. We appreciated being able to bring the dogs. The location is great - walking distance to UT campus. The owner was helpful and easy to work with. The adjacent house, handled by the same owner, was unoccupied so we had the pool area and yards to ourselves. We look forward to staying here again when we can.
Owner response:Pets are always welcome! We regard our pets as members of the family. As a result, we prefer not to charge you extra so that you can bring your beloved animals with you. As long as they are well-behaved and declared on the rental agreement, there's no charge.

We just spent 3 nights at this property and it was amazing. The owner was awesome and accomodating. We had 6 adults in our party. The accomodations were better than they appeared on the website, the bathroom was spotless, the pool and spa were incredible and the house was stocked beyond our expectations. Thank you for the wonderful stay! We would never have made it through the 106 degree temps without great AC and a cooling pool. This was just the place for us to hold up while dropping our son at UT. We cannot wait to visit again.

This is an awesome vacation rental. We had a wonderful time. We relaxed by the pool on sunny days and explored the city on fooot on overcast days. The location was superb. We will definitely be back and will recommend to our friends who travel here. Thank you again! It wass so great, we spent an extra night! PS. You have to check out Toni Price at the Continental Club.
