We booked this house as an end to a San Francisco vacation and totally hit the jack pot! We were 2 families with 4 kids and limited time! We have rented more then a few houses in the past but this one was so perfect! From the sewing kit to the labels on the tv explaining how to watch tv ... everything we needed was there. Fully stocked with everything we would need to cook and we cooked in every night and every morning. Great location. I was so so impressed with everything. I would totally suggest this to a friend.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Stay Dates: 09/18/12 to 09/23/12 "Thank you for the use of your home. We found it to be very comfortable with an amazing view! It was wonderful to have everything there to cook with. We came for our daughter's graduation from DLI and she wanted home cooked meals. All we had to do was grocery shop. You have a lovely home and we truly enjoyed our stay." We are soooo happy to have found this lovely beach home. The view is SPECTACULAR! We especially loved the walking path admiring the flora, fauna and ocean. The house is perfectly equipped and we found the back room also perfect for grandmom who did not do stairs too well. Thank you for the shampoo, conditioner and paper products. So thoughtful. All that is left to say is AMAZING!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

What a great location with beautiful views! Close to everything, the aquarium, 17 Mile Drive, Lobos and Lovers Point. The house is well supplied with everything one needs for cooking and sleeping. We will be back, we just did not have enough time here to do it all. This is such a beautiful location. We were even able to fill our jar full of sea glass. We will never forget our time here. We cannot wait to return. Thank youDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We've stayed on the coast before and your location is one of the tops for beauty. I'd love to be here for a winter storm! The convenience to the aquarium and the bike trail make this a perfect spot. We spent our 42nd wedding anniversary in such a beautiful spot....a lovely home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

What a fabulous location, view and incredibly comfortable and well equipped home! I had never been to Pacific Grove and was just blown away by the scenery and beautiful beaches. There was a, what seemed, little private beach just across the street and down a few steps. We had a fabulous visit with our kids and grand kids. We loved the Monterey Aquarium with the grand kids while our son went on a charter fishing boat...then we grilled fresh salmon for dinner! We would love to go back next year.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home it felt like our home for our short stay. Our kids made the downstairs back room their playroom and movie theater. We loved hearing the water at night as we fell asleep, stepping out side for morning runs, and cooking while watching the sunset. We loved having all the amenities at our finger tips and we hope to return.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We are a family of 4, with kids aged 6 and 2. We love this house - it was actually our second time staying here. It's very cute, nicely decorated, very comfortable from the sofa to the beds, and so thoughtfully stocked. Everything you need is here - basic toiletries, extra blankets, even a picnic basket and beach toys and towels for the kids. These last come in very handy, since it's less than a quarter mile walk along the beautiful ocean-front path to the beach at Lover's Point. This little beach has everything you need - waves to splash in, sand to build castles with, and tide pools to explore, all down behind a super wind break. It's just a bit over a mile along this same path from the house to Cannery Row and the aquarium. The view from the house is gorgeous, and you'll fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the waves. A couple of other important points about this vacation house: 1. The kitchen is really nice, fully stocked with cookware, dishes, appliances, etc. 2. The whole house is very, very clean. 3. The water pressure in the shower is great! Anyway, to sum up, we have had two great vacations staying at this house, and hope to have more.Recommended for: Families with young children

We just returned home from staying at this wonderful beach-house for 3 nights. It was very well-equipped, and the location was great. There were so many personal touches - we felt at home immediately. The views from the house couldn't have been more beautiful!! I spent a lot of time on the upstairs balcony just looking at the Bay. Family time was so much fun too - the "great room/kitchen/dining area" suited us to a T. There was a highchair for our little one, which was MOST appreciated, and a porta-crib too. This is a very family-oriented house, and we loved every minute of our stay. Hope to return next year!!! Thanks, Dennis and Toni.Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at this house for five days in mid-July with our two children (2yrs & 3 months) and found it to be a decent base for exploring the Monterey area. While the owners were very amenable, friendly, and responsive people, I do think there is some misrepresentation of the house in the listing that I wish someone else would have noted before we rented. The kitchen has been refinished with good appliances, but other than that the house is vintage, and not in a nice sort of way. The furniture and general decor date from about 1960 and it is varied, almost like the remains of a college group house. The arrangement of the common room (kitchen/dining/living) is also awkward at best. Yes, it is situated so the dining table has a good view of the ocean, but there is no communal sitting area and the fireplace is placed in the most ludicrous position that renders it unusable. You can't tell from the pictures but it essentially between the fridge and counter. I guess you could stand it front of it or crouch on the floor, but if you open the fridge you would block it, that's how close it is. It was clean enough, but it still seemed musty and dated. The downstairs "bedroom" with the murphy bed is really just the garage, and isn't someplace anyone would want to sleep. This room also unfortunately reeks of cat litter box, which was very disappointing, though luckily none of us had to sleep there. The upstairs rooms are fine, with good mattresses. The master balcony is great, the high point of the house. Also not noted in the listing or reviews is the amount of road noise. Yes, we knew it was on the road but this old house is thin and the steady car noise, late into the evening, often kept our children (and ourselves) from sleeping or relaxing. It also kind of alters the ocean view when you have cars roaring by in front of you every few minutes. The trail out front is great, seals and sea otters playing nearby, and you can easily walk to Lover's Point Beach and the Aquarium is 1 mile down the path. The beach in front of the house is also nice; a quiet little place with rocks and small tidal pools. A mile the other way you have dozens of little beaches and then the big state park beach which is excellent. Our best day was a trip to Carmel city beach, one of the best in the world, about 20 min. away. There is so NO radio in the house. None. We called about it and she said she would bring one by that afternoon. Never did. So we listened to cars.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: We appreciate and welcome all of our guests comments, this advises us as to how we can improve! Thus, we are pleased to announce that we have completed the following improvements and upgrades to make your visit at our beach house a most memorable and enjoyable experience! All the bedrooms have been updated with new fashionable furniture, linens and accessories. The oak hardwood floors in the bedrooms have been refinished and are now furnished with new area rugs. Additionally, all of the vertical window blinds have been replaced with fashionable draperies, which greatly reduced the noise from the scenic road in front of the house. Thanks to a comment from one of our guests we have corrected an exterior city storm drain issue, which caused a bad odor in the downstairs garage area. We have replaced the dining chairs with more comfortable seating to add to the down stairs seating accommodations. Furthermore, the portable radio/dvd player has been replaced and we now even have a combo radio/I-pod dock player! There is a Murphy wall bed in the garage area but we do not count this as a bedroom but consider it as a bonus or overflow area for those who cannot traverse the stairs. This home is perfectly suited for a small family with school age children or older. While we do provide a porta-crib, high chair, safety gate and the house is child friendly; there is not a fenced yard and the scenic avenue can be a bit busy during the high season. The house is elevated approximately 6 feet above the street level so that the down stairs front room view is looking over any of the regular auto traffic. Occasionally a tour bus may pass by and temporarily block the view for a few seconds. The best feature of this quaint beach house is it’s magnificent views and close proximity to the beaches, parks, restaurants and downtown Pacific Grove. We hope you will consider our home for your next visit to this heavenly area!

This is a great home with amazing ocean front views from the kitchen and more amazing from the master bedroom. THe house is cozy and very accommodating for our families with small children. We had a great time cooking and BBQ and eating with a view ! YOu can't do that in a hotel room. We plan to return to his grand home every year to make more memories and share in family time. We highly recommend this home and have inspired other family members/friends to give it try. This home is very close to many of the local places and dining was within walking distance. Great place to head to the beaches or ocean front spots to bike, run/walk or dig in the sandDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed here for a month in 2008. While it is a small house, it was very comfortable. We stay in vacation rentals frequently and this one was very well equiped--basic cooking supplies, paper goods, soaps of all kinds. This made it much easier to move in and enjoy ourselves. The kitchen is well equiped. The photos are accurate and the view was breathtaking. You can cook and wash dishes all the time enjoying the beautiful ocean view, seals, otters, boats and more. The coastal path runs right in front of the house and we enjoyed watching a constant parade of walkers, runners, people walking their dogs, etc. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. We hope to return soon.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/3

Toni, Thank you so much for a wonderful and relaxing stay. The house had everything and was so comfortable. We ate in most days because of the breathtaking oceanfront views. Aside from the natural beauty of Pacific Grove, the ice plant (field of purple)was in bloom and the seals were everywhere. What a memorable vacation (May 2009). Hope to stay here again. We were lucky to stay 5 nights in this amazing small house in quiet Pacific Grove. It would be cramped with 8, but we were 5 people. Stunning views. Excellent kitchen. Comfortable beds. Loads of hot water. 2 minutes drive to the best sunsets in California! Minutes from Cannery Row, Carmel, Point Lobos etc etc. I wish we had enough holiday to book a full month!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
