Our house is a petite 200-year old hideaway in an unspoiled village just 4km south of the Dordogne River. Castles and cave paintings are minutes away along with river kayaking, wonderful markets and 13th century towns.
In the house, there's a large stone-walled room with huge fireplace, kitchen equipped with gas/electric cooktop, microwave, laundry washer and all utensils. A bright, airy sitting area remains cool behind the thick stone walls. The upstairs attic bedroom features an IKEA Queen bed, wool berber carpeting and modern tiled shower with Grohe fixtures.
Outside is a large, private stone-walled courtyard with garden furniture and leafy Catalpa shade tree for those long French country lunches. A great restaurant is just 2 mins. away in the village and open countryside begins 150m away across the stone bridge. The best Sunday market in the Dordogne is 10km away at St. Cyprien. Pubs, cafes and more fine dining half-a-mile away in the charming 14th C. hilltop town of Belves.
