We needed a last minute place to stay for my grandmother's funeral during one of the busiest beach weekends of the year. Clay and Kathy were so accomodating and having Rosie's Retreat as our home base during an otherwise difficult time was such a blessing. Very easy drive to beaches (40-45 min), Jacsonville (30 minutes) and great dining and shopping just minutes away. We hope to come back for a much needed family break next year. We have rented many times through VRBO over the years and this house was clean and had every thing you needed when you arrived, no late night trip to the store for soap or paper towels, it was really lovely and I highly recommend the home as a great place to stay.

Our family was displaced for 2 months preparing to conduct a work related move and utilized Rosie's Retreat as our temp home. Great location to commute to either Camp Lejeune and/or Cherry Point. Quiet property and relaxing. Kathy & Clay are really great folks who's generosity and hospitality made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. We had an enjoyable stay and really felt at home. Highly recommended.

My family stayed for 2 nights in July 2009 for a little league baseball tournament. Although we didn't stay long, Clay and Kathy were so wonderful and certainly enjoy people. Their home was very comfortable and a pretty setting overlooking the golf course. The kids enjoyed Clay taking them on the golf course in the evening and fishing in the pond. I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the area more and I would highly recommend a stay at Rosies.

What a great find! We stayed at Rosis's Retreat for the 2009 MS Bike Ride, 6 in our party and had plenty of room. It was relaxing and peaceful, exactly what we needed after a long ride. Clay and Kathy are a delight and kind. It was like we were staying at our own home. Thank you for your support! We hope to see you next year!

My mother, sister and I had an enjoyable, relaxing and peaceful stay at Rosie's Retreat. In spite of a last minute change in our travel plans, Clay and Kathy were able to accommodate us at a moments notice. The home was spacious and allowed us to truly spread out and not be in each other's space - unless we wanted to. Our 4 night stay provided us with ample time for experiencing the River Bend community, as well as time to visit with relatives in the Craven/Pamlico County area. The River Bend community was great for walking. In addition, I enjoyed riding one of Rosie's Retreat bicycles - so no need to rent bikes or bring your own. Most importantly, the Hodges went out of their way to make our family comfortable and feel welcomed. I definitely plan to stay here again and hope to have completed golf lessons so that I can take advantage of the golf course right outside the cottage!

My husband and I along with my parents stayed at Rosies Retreat for a few days in April. We had a wonderful, very relaxed time. Every comfort you would need is at the house. It is very nicely furnished and the kitchen has everything you need and much more. Everywhere was very clean and well kept. The owners Kathy and Clay were very friendly and generous. Our favorite place was the screened in room overlooking the golf course. We enjoyed walking to the nearby Country Club where we had two delicious meals served by very friendly people. The beds were extremely comfortable and the area wonderfully quiet. The only thing that woke us was the songbirds, much better than an alarm clock! We have told all our friends about Rosies Retreat and hope we can return too some day. None of us could fault it in any way. Thanks again to Kathy and Clay. Paul and Chris Helsby and Mike and Val Huggins

Rosie's Retreat is truly a home away from home. It's cozy, comfortable and well equipped. The view from the Carolina room in the early morning is beautiful even in the winter! We would certainly recommend Rosie's Retreat and the hosts Clay and Kathy are exceptional and accommodating.

We arrived in New Bern NC at the end of Oct. 2008, for Nov. to the end of Feb.2009 Clay and Kathy Hodge were gracious enough to allow us to move in 2 days early, because we made faster time from Steamboat Springs Colorado then we thought we would! The location and accommodations are first class! Great view overlooking the Golf Course, from the screened Carolina room. The large open kitchen, has all the appliances and kitchen necessities you would need! Same goes for the towels and linens, you would need in the bedrooms and baths. You only need to bring your cloths and toiletries. We would rate this home as Excellent! .

We immediately felt at home in "Rosie's Retreat" from the beginning of our 3 month stay at the house. We had that feeling because we had everything (and more) that we needed in the house - fun beach cruiser bikes to ride the neighborhood of River Bend, a nice yard for our dog to play in, a beautiful BBQ grill and an awesome screened in porch where I think that we ate every meal, for 3 months. The house amenities were only out done by the wonderful owners, Clay and Kathy, who could not have been nicer or more welcoming. We were sad to leave "Rosie's" but loved New Bern so much that we decided to stay permanently. I HIGHLY recommend Rosie's Retreat for any long or short term travel needs.

Our family of 4 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rosie's Retreat during the month of July, 2008. While in River Bend visiting family, Rosie's was the perfect place for us to stay. We enjoyed having the extra space and the setting is beautiful. The Hodges are very nice hosts and the home has everything you could need. We hope to be back!! :) The Klak Family

Rosie's Retreat is a delight. My husband and I with our dog spent a great week in New Bern. The house is equipped with everything you could want and extremely comfy. The hospitality of the owners, Clay & Kathy, is outstanding. We heartily recommend Rosie's to anyone visiting this area of North Carolina.

We (two adults and three kids) have had four wonderful weeks in Rosie's Retreat. We felt home from the very first moment on, everything we needed was in there from bicycle, barbeque to a perfect kitchen equipment. The support of the landlords Kathy and Clay was also exceptional! We loved it very much and we would rent it again at anytime.
