The property itself is beautiful, but after entering the homes, you will never want to leave. It is perfect for vacationing with a wide variety of people of different ages. The property exceeded my expectations. The online description is accurate, but the property was better than what was described. It was very clean and well-maintained, and the owners are incredibly friendly in addition to being knowledgeable and quick to answer questions. I would definitely recommend this property to a friend. I'm thinking of going back after my husband and I have a few kids!

Truly A Slice Of Heaven
Truly A Slice Of Heaven
I e-mailed BRP on 10/7/12 & was pleasantly surprised when Claudia, owner/manager, responded so promptly to my request. My husband & I thought this would be the perfect place for our family reunion. None of the reviews we read did this property the justice it deserves. Not only was every dealing w/Claudia pleasant, but Tony the caretaker was also a gem. The moment we stepped foot into the main home we turned to each other & smiled knowing it would be the perfect “getaway”. After touring the luxurious estate home & the charming farmhouse, we decided to seize the moment & book our week in Dec. The day we arrived, we settled into our amazing rooms. It was so hard to choose who got which bedroom as one was better than the next~they’re all fabulous. We got the master suite w/a comfy down couch in the sitting area, FP & amazing bathroom! Our suite featured a huge soaking tub & private balcony w/views of the pond. We also had a larger than life WIC w/a huge island topped w/calcutta marble. “WOW” is all we said the 1st few days we were there. We were in awe w/every single design detail & beautiful eclectic decor. We spent our lazy days in the steam rm & dry sauna treating ourselves to “spa/pampering” time. We also spent many hours in the heated indoor pool & hot tub. Sometimes we’d play volleyball, swim laps or just hang out telling stories & laughing the day away. We relaxed in front of the FP late into the evenings & played a few rounds of pool. We also created a little disco in the dance rm! For those who have culinary aspirations, you will be in absolute heaven in the kitchen. We cooked a few meals & had such a blast doing so. We treated ourselves & had private chefs for a few of our meals, even they had fun in the kitchen! We didn’t leave the premises the entire time as we wanted to soak up every minute. Although we didn’t leave, I know there are a lot of wonderful places nearby. You can go hiking or visit bistros w/live performances such as Infinity Hall, only minutes away. All I know is the memories we now share from the week we spent at Roughland Estates will be forever talked about w/a contagious smile. Roughland is filled w/such love, great decor & great spirit. If you’re looking for a place to stay at the foothills of CT’s Berkshire Mountains you won’t regret staying here. In fact, I believe like all the others who’ve had the opportunity to spend time here, you’ll fall in love and will want to come back for more.

Manager response: :) Thank you, Sanam, You and your family were wonderful guests at Roughland and we would be very happy to have you back anytime! ~Claudia and the team at Roughland Estate
This is a spectacular property in the Berkshires, where there is almost no need to ever leave home! The main house is simply gorgeous and beautifully appointed, with all the amenities that one could possibly imagine. We especially enjoyed the pool and hot tub, that leads right into the sauna and steam room. You could spend an entire day just in that corner of the house! The fire pit at the lake is perfect for building a fire and gathering around with family and friends. Also, if you enjoy cooking, the kitchen is immaculate with everything you need to cook up a feast. The guest house is quaint and charming, a really antique feel to it and perfect for the setting. This is a property not to be missed if you are in the area.

We had a great 5 day/4 night stay at the Estate House. The Farmhouse was not occupied during our stay, so we had the whole outdoor property to ourselves. It's a beautiful one-of-a-kind place and worked out great for our party of 5 adult couples. We used most of both the outdoor and indoor facilities and really enjoyed ourselves. It was a first try at a family reunion for our group, and many of us would like to have our next event at the same place. The description of the place was on target. the property was in great shape when we got there. Claudia was very helpful and provided great service. I would definitely recommend the place to a friend. It might be nice if a somewhat bigger town were a little closer, but you can't have everything. We prepared most of our own meals, but had one nice dinner in Norfolk; and we made use of a nice grocery store in Canaan.

A little slice of heaven in the Berkshires
A little slice of heaven in the Berkshires
My husband and I got married at Roughland Farm earlier this year and from start to finish, the experience was absolutely perfect. We found Roughland online and knew immediately that it could be an amazing location for our wedding. We contacted the owners and heard back right away from Claudia, who, every step along the was was helpful, flexible, kind and a pleasure to work with. We saw Roughland Farm for the first time in Dec 2008, and despite it being wintertime with frozen grounds and nothing in bloom we were taken aback by the true beauty of the Estate House, the rustic charm of the Farm House, and the sprawling grounds. The pictures online are beautiful, but nothing compared to seeing this place in person. We booked it right away, and from that moment on Claudia couldn't have been more helpful with suggestions for food (The John Andrews resturant did our catering, which was spectacular) vendors, music, and every other out of the blue request I came up with. We visited Roughland again in the springtime as we were getting closer to our June wedding, and with everything in full bloom it was even more breathtaking than we remembered. The week we spent there was simply incredible, with the houses and grounds well kept and beautifully decorated and limitless activities to keep us and our guests entertained. The pool and hot tub got a lot of use! My husband and I commented all throughout the week how lucky we were to have found such a perfect place to have our wedding. All of our guests fell in love with Roughland as much as we did, which made our wedding day even more special than we could have imagined.

Thanksgiving in the Bershires
Thanksgiving in the Bershires
Four generations of our family celebrated Thanksgiving of 2008 and it was the perfect spot for this gathering. The house exceeded our expectations - very well equipped with lots of space and amenities. The gourmet kitchen had everything we needed to prepare Thanksgiving dinner for 24. We rented both the Estate House and the Farm House. The pool and hot tub provided lots of relaxation and fun for young and old.
