"MY CABIN IN THE MOUNTAINS" We want you to consider our cabin, to be "YOUR VERY OWN, CABIN IN THE MOUNTAINS". Who imagined that the beauty of the NC Mountains could be so close! Located in the Great Smoky Mountains, the cabin sits in the middle of the Nantahala National Forest. Only two hours north of downtown Atlanta(GA) and just over the GA/NC state line, the cabin is perfect for couples who are looking for an out-of-the way retreat that's not too far out-of-the way. The cabin is also perfect for the family that wants their next vacation to be unforgettable.
As you walk inside the cabin, to your right is the fully-appointed Kitchen with: stove (gas), oven (electric), pots & pans, utensils, microwave oven, coffee maker, toaster, electric can opener, double sink (w/garbage disposal), automatic dishwasher, and full-size refrigerator/freezer. Also to your right, sitting off the Kitchen are the washer and dryer. To your left as you walk in is the Dining Area. Straight ahead of you is the Living Room where you'll find a beautiful floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace and hearth. Past the fireplace and to your right is the Master Bedroom with a king-size bed, a closet, and a full Bathroom. Beyond the Living Room are the stairs that take you to the Loft where you'll find two twin beds, a dresser w/mirror, a closet, and a full Bathroom.
OUTSIDE: Outside the front door, is the deck which runs down the left side of the cabin and continues across the front, ending at the carport. The carport area and front porch are all covered.
"MY CABIN IN THE MOUNTAINS" is located in the small community of Otto, NC. Otto lies between: Clayton & Dillard(GA) to the South, and Franklin(NC) to the North. And just to the East of Otto is Highlands(NC). There are two great advantages to the cabin's specific location. First, you have many outdoor activities and destinations of interest close by and in nearly every direction. (i.e., white-water rafting, river tubing, trail hiking, fly fishing, gem mining, mountain biking, antiquing, snow skiing, and of course leaf peeping in the Fall.) And second, you are well outside the reach of any sprawling city.
The cabin is just a mile off of a 4-lane divided highway (US 23/441) and that short mile between the highway and the cabin is a paved asphalt road except for the last 100 yards--which is gravel. No steep mountain roads to navigate--Yeah!
Finally, we want to be sure to mention that "We", who are your hosts and owners live just down a short gravel road from the cabin. So if you ever have any problems or questions, we're close by and happy to help. "We", are Sonny and Harvalyn Elam. We look forward to sharing with you our little slice of heaven!

- Parking for RV/Boat/Trailer : If you have a trailer or boat & trailer there is plenty of room, on the side of the road that leads to the cabin's driveway, to park either your trailer, your car, or both. This is a gravel road and it is very level.

- "My Cabin In The Mountains" sits is the Nantahala National Forest. In the area, there are numerous waterfalls, many of which can be seen from the road. Dillard is home to "The Dillard House" (don't bother unless you are VERY hungry!) In Franklin (12 miles)is "The Fun Factory" a family-oriented destination offering arcades, mini-golf, bowling, batting cages, laser tag, pizza, and more. Highlands, NC is 25 minutes away and has many quaint shops and fine dining. Asheville is about 80 miles away and is home to the Biltmore House.
Rate Details (In US Dollars)
Jan-Dec $125/night, $650/week
There is a 2-night minimum stay required, a 3-night minimum during Oct.
A deposit of 50% is due at time of reservation, the balance is due upon arrival.
Note: We do not charge a cleaning fee or add anything on to our stated rates.
Sales and occupancy taxes are included.
Check-in time is after 3pm. Check-out time is at, or before 11am.

This was the perfect place to recharge our battery. It was immaculate and cozy. You could tell lots of love and attention went into decorating to make it say "welcome". Our hosts even gave us tomatoes from their garden when we arrived and they were delicious. We will certainly return and refer our friends and family. Thank you Elams for allowing us the use of your cabin.
