You will find this magnificently restored Farmhouse property and it's charming independent 18th century Hunting lodge in the heart of the Luberon National Park near Gordes rated as one of the most beautiful villages in France.

The Farmhouse, once a Honey Farm, and the Hunting Lodge stand in thirty acres of their own land and are surrounded by thousands of acres of oak forest they also enjoy exceptional views over the Luberon valley to the Luberon mountain. Further up the windy road and over the hills is the beautiful lavender country of Sault which boasts a patchwork of lavender colours and red poppies in the summer. If you come when the cherries are ripe you may pick as many as you wish from our cherry trees and the farm chickens will provide fresh eggs.

Built in the local stone, the Farmhouse has five large double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom (all bathrooms have both bath and separate shower). The house is fully furnished and beautifully decorated with many antiques, paintings, and equipped with all modern amenities; the bedrooms all have either a long balcony or a large terrace.

The reception rooms of this house are large and spectacular, and the large drawing room and beautiful sunlit dining room both boast impressive stone fireplaces, and three full length French windows opening onto balcony and terrace outside, pretty ochre coloured library with open fire, confortable sofas and TV/DVD,summer dining room, kitchen fully equipped with Paul Bocuse range cooker, American fridge with icemaker, dishwasher, pantry, small upstairs kitchen, with cooker, dishwasher sink and storage.

The Farmhouse swimming pool is a "natural" free-form pool with horizon effect, surrounded by a "beach". When the weather is cooler it can be heated. Both houses share the newly-built tennis court which is two shades of terracotta, and has a quick-dry surface.

The 18th Century Hunting Lodge is entirely independent, sleeps 6 people and has it's own pool and privacy. The peculiarity of this lovely Hunting Lodge is that it is oval shaped which gives unusual dimensions to the different rooms. The Lodge has been beautifully renovated with high quality materials and decorated with excellent taste. It is well equipped and you will find log fireplaces in both lounges.

On the ground floor you will find two delightful bright cheerful lounges with comfortable sofa's and armchairs near the fireplaces, coffee tables, antique furniture and colourful tapisseries on the walls. There is also a large dining area and fully equipped open plan kitchen with french doors opening onto the grounds. There is a separate WC on the ground floor off the entrance hall.

Up the lovely old tiled stairs to the first floor hallway where 3 spacious sunny bedrooms await you. The pretty blue master bedroom (kingsize bed) has a walk in wardrobe and bathroom ensuite with bathtub, washbasin and WC.
The charming pale green bedroom(kingsize bed)also has it's bathroom ensuite with bathtub, marble washbasin, and WC.
The spacious 3rd bedroom with two single beds has an enormous sunny bathroom ensuite with a superb old fashioned bathtub, bidet and WC. There is also a separate Shower room for the Lodge on the same floor.

The Lodge has it's own spectacular sundrenched (heated) pool 15 x 7 m with it's private shady summer kitchen fully equipped with BBQ, fridge, and hotplates. There is plenty of fer forgé garden furniture, sunloungers and parasols. The pools and grounds are maintained by the live in caretaker.

Far from the maddening crowd but near enough to all the interesting local sites to visit these two wonderful houses have all the necessary ingredients to provide you with a holiday to remember. 5kms from the pretty medieval village of Murs where you can buy fresh bread and croissants, the local store sells most things and the family run café/restaurant are great friendly places to eat.

The delightful nearby villages of Lacoste, Roussillon, Bonnieux, Menerbes, Oppède, Lourmarin and Coustellet offer fantastic markets every day of the week and supermarkets in the nearby towns of Apt and Carpentras.

For true peace and quiet, this property is unequalled. Weather in this area is exceptionally sunny for most of the year- having the most hours of annual sunshine in France.

Isle sur la Sorgue, a Venice-like town about half an hour away, has around six hundred antique dealers, and a thriving street market every weekend. Kayaking down the river Sorgue, from the Fontaine de Vaucluse (a fully grown river which comes out of a cave) is also fun. The local wines are excellent, and just to the north are extensive wine tours around the vineyards of the Cotes du Rhone.

The papal city of Avignon is an hour away, and Aix en Provence only slightly more.
This incredible setting is perfect for a memorable holiday in the Provence.

The houses can be rented together or separately.

La Bourrade - hunting lodge: the wide space and nature around combined with the possibility to engage in swimming, tennis and cycling made this one of our best visits to the Luberon ever. Life outside around the pool was just great, there are hiking paths all over and all those lovely little places like Menerbes, Roussillon, Bonnieux are only a short drive away. But we also made it to Picasso in Aix-en-Provence and even to the red carpet in Cannes, before we took the bikes and went all the way to the top of the Mont Ventoux. This holiday had it all!

    • More than a year before I wanted to celebrate a significant birthday and wedding anniversary by inviting our closest relatives to share a week with us in Provence, we began to look for accomodations for 14 people. We had a lot of choice, but Beverly Ferriz, the friend of the owners and personal manager of the property, was one of the reasons we decided on this property. Beverly was efficient, thoughtful, organized and helpful at every stage. We were delighted that we chose this property for our celebration. Beverly's help continued throughout our stay. The house is magnificent in every aspect -- accomodations, beauty, kitchen, and grounds. Potential renters should believe every word of the website posting. The scenic views were spectacular and the house itself spacious and welcoming. Each impeccably furnished bedroom had its own ensuite bath/shower, provided with everything you could want. Everything was spotless. The kitchen was a chef's delight, and we had at least four chefs among us. We had all the equipment we could possible want or even imagine. I had thought that people would take some of their dinners in restaurants, but everyone wanted to enjoy dinner in the house. We shopped at local markets and everyone contributed food and cooking expertise. For our anniversary, our relatives prepared a gourmet dinner, including a cherry tart and cherry ice cream from the cherries the children picked and pitted, and the ice cream maker we immediately discovered. We had cherry ice cream almost every evening. Gordon, the caretaker, was very helpful and took the children to gather the eggs from the chickens on the property, and helped them pick the cherries. The omelets from those eggs were the best I've ever tasted. The house is children-friendly. One reads about all the things that can go wrong with summer rentals, but absolutely othing went wrong. The only quibble one of us had was that the internet connection was erratic, although we could use it every day. The week we spent at the Mas de la Bourrade was like a dream. It could not have been better. If perspective renters have any questions, I will be happy to respond via email.

Hi Beverly, Just wanted to let you know that we all had a wonderful time at Mas Bourrade last month and enjoyed meeting you too. What a lovely property and the most well equipped kitchen ever. A shower for each bedroom a bonus. I would definitely recommend it to others, especially if they don’t mind cooking at night. We were tired from touring during the day and it was perfect to stay home most nights for our group. Plus, eating in at night gave us a purpose for visiting the wonderful town markets. Each couple would pick up a part of the meal… cheese, pastry, bread, salami, wine, etc.plus some souveniers. The many outdoor eating areas were perfect – lots of space everywhere for a large group. Gordon was very helpful and advised us to go to the Sault market which was smaller and a nice contrast to the one in Isle sur la Sorgue. Laura
