    • Lake View : The Chalet, located in a separate wooded area on the property, and the two condos are magnificently situated on the end of a peninsula jutting out into Flathead Lake. Flathead Lake Suites' private lakefront looks across the lake five miles to see the shoreline of the town of Bigfork. Most of Flathead Lake Suites' lakefront has been kept natural except for its two private docks, on which it is fun to sunbathe or watch the fish swimming and jumping in the water. There is a path all along the water's edge which has multiple lake accesses and the two docks each have a ladder to climb out of the water after swimming the 314 feet of private waterfront.
    • Water View : It is peaceful and awe-inspiring to sit at the water's edge or on your balcony or elsewhere on the property and watch the lake in its many moods. Even though it is the largest lake (water wise) west of the Mississippi, at times it can be as smooth as glass and not a sound can be heard. At other times, in a storm, the waves can be three or four feet high and splash over the roof where the motorboat is kept. From April through October, it is wonderful to relax outside on the exclusively private property. When the snow arrives, the lake reflecting the snow on the mountains is exquisitely beautiful.
    • Mountain View : Since Flathead Lake Suites is majestically located on the end of a peninsula jutting out into Flathead Lake, from your Chalet's windows and log-railing balcony you can see a spectacular panoramic view of six mountain ranges, including Glacier National Park peaks, the Mission Range, the Swan Range, and other mountain ranges. You can also watch sunrises, sunsets, the moon rise and moon shimmering on the lake, and a myriad of bright stars in the sky. The alpine glow on the mountains in the winter is spectacular. Miles of cross-country skiing in the forests plus two major ski resorts are nearby.
  • Communications
    • Cell Phone : Cell phone reception is good in the Chalet, the two condos, and outside.
    • WiFi (Wireless Internet) : Wireless internet for your own computer is accessible in the Chalet, both condos, and outside. Ask Linda for the password.

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 1963

When she was seven years old, Linda moved to the Flathead Valley with her family. Her father was a lumber man and Linda grew up hiking in Glacier Country's forests and swimming in the area's many lakes. Wayne had traveled extensively in most of Europe while he was in the military. In August 1961, before his senior year at Brigham Young University, Wayne traveled with a buddy to visit their friend who was working in Glacier National Park. Wayne thought then that Glacier Country was the most beautiful place he had ever seen in Europe or the United States. He decided it was where he wanted to be on his honeymoon. Wayne met Linda the next month in a class they were both taking. They were engaged by Christmas and married August 15, 1962, spending their honeymoon in Glacier National Park.

We both knew we wanted to live in the Flathead Valley so in 1963, we spent the summer looking at the many areas and lakes in Glacier Country. We were both teachers and we stayed with Linda's parents for the summer. We had been out all day with a realtor and still had not found what we wanted. We went home to Linda's parents' house and, in the newspaper, found an ad by owner for this magnificently situated property. It was on the end of Angel Point peninsula jutting out into Flathead Lake. Nothing had even come close to the breathtaking panoramic beauty of this place.

Why the Owner Chose Lakeside

It took us thirty years of working in California before we could come home to build. During the summers we cleared brush and got the land ready to build on. We drilled a well 286 feet deep into rock to get our great water well. We felt lucky with each step of the process because of the awesome grandeur of Flathead Lake and the six spectacular mountain ranges you can see from here. We lived in a tent, then a trailer house and finally in June 1993 we retired and came home to build. The luxury Chalet was completed in February 2011.

The Unique Benefits of this Chalet

There are many places here on the property and on the waterfront where you feel like you are the only person(s) in the world. The osprey (birds with up to a five foot wing span) and bald eagles land in Flathead Lake Suites' trees or the 17 acre bird refuge just steps away. Take a motor boat tour with Wayne and Linda, relax in the hammocks or log benchswings, roast marshmallows on the campfire, fish from the dock or rowboat, canoe and swim in the lake, and cross-country ski or hike in the miles of nearby forest trails. Eleven golf courses, Glacier National Park and all Glacier Country fun are nearby.

The spectacular sunrises, sunsets, moonrises sparkling across the lake, fresh mountain air among the giant trees, blue clear lake and panoramic views are unique in the way they can be seen and experienced here. We shut the wrought iron gates with elk on them and our guests tell us that they feel they are shutting out the world.

Wonderful vacation retreat!

Date of Stay: 10/09/11 Review Submitted: 11/18/11

My husband and I had heard many great things about the northwest region of Montana that we finally decided to go. We are so glad we did. What beautiful country! Linda and Wayne are truely the most gracious hosts! They were very welcoming and gave us some excellent ideas for places to visit, and even though it was the off-season and a bit chilly and rainy, we found much to do and see. It was a delight to stay at their chalet. It was so cozy and comfortable. Perfect for the 2 of us and with the full kitchen, we were able to prepare meals at our leisure. The fireplace was perfect, the view was amazing and it was the perfect base to see all of what northwest Montana has to offer. The chalet is secluded and you can tell Linda and Wayne take great pride in their property. The grounds are just outstanding! You can tell they put in alot of work to make it a wonderful place to stay. I highly recommend the expierence of staying here! Glacier Park Int'l airport was very convenient and a breeze to get in and out of. If you're so inclined, take the drive out to Libby, MT and stop by Kootenai Falls Swinging Bridge. Fantastic! While your at it, drive over to Bonners Ferry, ID. The drive is beautiful and the town so quaint! We truely had a great time on this vacation. If we ever get back out to this area of Montana again, you can bet we would definitely stay at the Chalet. Thank you Linda and Wayne for helping to make our Montana vacation one to remember. :)

A wonderful place to stay on Flathead Lake

Guest: Debbie (Billings, Montana)
Date of Stay: 07/23/11 Review Submitted: 08/01/11

This property is absolutely the BEST place to stay on Flathead Lake. It is situated on the desirable West shore with spectacular views of the lake and mountains. The large, wooded and well-maintained property has many small retreats with hammocks or chairs where we could get away to enjoy the views and have some privacy. However, there was plenty to do when we wanted some fun. The private swimming beach has shallow areas which our kids enjoyed and deeper, open areas for us adults, and there is the use of a canoe and rowboat for anyone who feels adventurous. There is a fire pit where we had an evening campfire and roasted marshmallows. The kids played badminton and there is also croquet and horseshoes available. Every room is equipped with a full kitchen, but guests don't need to cook in their rooms as there is a gazebo with tables, chairs and a gas grill where we spent many fun evenings cooking and eating outdoors. As night set in we sat on our balconies and watched the sun set over the mountains and the lights of Bigfork come on across the lake. The rooms have all the comforts of home with king-size beds, sitting areas, and private baths. The new chalet is truly beautiful with a fireplace, flat-screen television, granite countertops, and marble tile. As accommodating as the rooms were, we found ourselves drawn outside to enjoy this beautiful property and everything it offered. The owners were very nice and helpful with whatever we needed. If you want to venture out, the property is close to Lakeside where you will find the Tamarack Alehouse & Grill for a good meal. Bigfork is a short jaunt away where you will find shops and restaurants and be sure to hit Kehoe's Agate Shop on the way there. It is well worth a stop. It is only about 15 miles into Kalispell and another 15 to Whitefish. Big Mountain in Whitefish has zip lines and all sorts of activities. Be sure to visit Jeff Fleming's Bearfoot Bears store on the way to Kalispell. And, of course, there is Glacier Park which is close enough for a day trip. We are so happy we found this amazing place to stay and plan to return every year.

Owner response:Thank you!

Wonderful Summer Vacation at Flathead Lake Suites Chalet!

Guest: Kim, Keith and Konner (Arizona)
Date of Stay: 06/18/11 Review Submitted: 07/18/11

We had a wonderful time during our visit to Northwest Montana! We chose to stay at the Chalet at Flathead Lake Suites and we are so glad we did! The hosts, Linda and Wayne, met us upon arrival with a warm welcome and showed us the Chalet and the grounds. The Chalet was beautiful and the layout was great! Our party consisted of two adults and one child. The couch with the pullout bed had already been prepared and it was very comfortable! All of the entertainment features and appliances were new and top of the line. The grand windows made us feel like we were out amongst the pine trees. We were taken aback by the frequent visits of a bald eagle as well! We could watch him perched up in a tall pine tree from the dining room! The morning after our arrival my son and I were anxious to check out the grounds. Even though we were steps away from the lake, it took us a while to get there because there were so many places to explore. My son shrieked with excitement! I took note of the fragrant walk. There were flowers everywhere! Once we made it to the first of two docks on the lake, we were overwhelmed. Overlooking the expansive lake with the beautiful mountains set behind it was spectacular! We spent several days just fishing off the dock. We caught more fish than we have in years! The location was great! It was just a couple minutes from a small grocery and hardware store and approximately 15 minutes to Kalispell. The convenient location made for easy and quick access to Glacier National Park for a day trip. The Chalet and property were outstanding as were our wonderful hosts! When visiting the Flathead Lake/Glacier National Park area we couldn't recommend a better place to stay!

Owner response:Thank you! We are so glad to have such wonderful guests as you share our exclusively private "paradise" away from the bustle of the world.

Stunning lakefront scenery, and beautifully landscaped gardens make this a very relaxing place

Guest: fly2liv (Northern California)
Date of Stay: 07/02/11 Review Submitted: 07/10/11

We took a vote in my family and by a landslide we voted Flathead Lake Suites the most beautiful place we have ever stayed. We stayed in the chalet which was very comfortable and modern. The entire suite was spotless and had all of the basic cookware and flatware. We didn't need to bring anything but clothing and the food we planned to eat. In In addition to the beach and boat dock areas, there are all sorts of beautiful gardens, water fountains, trails, swings, hammocks, and even a fishing platform to enjoy. No matter where I was on the property there was always a bench, hammock, lounge chair, or swing to sit on. The views of the surrounding Rocky Mountains are amazing! There is a gas BBQ next to a large gazebo which provides a beautiful place to cook up steaks and enjoy a relaxing dinner by the lake. Although we intended to visit Glacier National Park, which is about a 40 minute drive from Flathead Lake Suites, my family had so much fun on the property that we cancelled our day journey to Glacier. Our only journeys off the property were to buy groceries at the local market in Lakeside, and the full service Rosauer's grocery store which is about a 10 minute drive. We flew into Glacier International Airport just outside of Kalispell and rented a car from one of the major rental car companies. The rental cars were on the premises and were just a short walk from baggage claim. We were in our rental car less than 15 minutes after landing and then it took us 30 minutes to drive to Flathead Lake Suites. Good luck picking up your bags and getting your rental car that fast in a major metropolitan airport! We're so glad we were able to stay here and are already making plans to return. Returning to work is going to be difficult, but at least I have my pictures to look at.

Owner response:Thank you! We are very glad you came for the week in Flathead Lake Suites' new Chalet and enjoyed the privacy and fresh air of the wooded lakefront property. We are very much looking forward to your visit next year! Cordially, Linda
