Nimes is a touristic center with well conserved famous Roman monuments that can be visited; it is also known for bullfighting and corridas in May and September. Nimes is ideally situated between the Mediterranean sea (the coast is 45 km away) and the Cévennes mountains (60 km away).
The house is built true to local style on one level, and is composed of three units: the owner's and the two others, seasonally rented.
Nimes is one of the sunniest cities in France, boasting 300 sunny days per year. During the summer, the weather is very warm, breezy and dry, making the heat pleasant. The only sound is the singing of the cicadas. During winter, thanks to the winds, the sky remains clear and the air is crisp.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2001
Anne-Christine and Jacky are happy to welcome you on their property in Nimes. We have always been big travelers and are truly enthralled that we can continue to meet people from all over the world through our rentals which host people from all continents. This property is also our home and therefore we decorate and maintain our environment with dedication and care. My husband and I do the majority of the work on the property, and though discreet, we are always available to our guests. Between us we speak a total of four languages (French, English, Spanish and Swedish).
Why the Owner Chose Nimes
We are a very international family and have lived in many countries before finally settling down in Nimes. We wanted to live in a sunny place with clear blue skies especially after having lived in Malaysia, Mexico, Colombia, Peru and California. When we bought the property in 2001, we immediately saw its potential as an ideal vacation location.
The Unique Benefits of this Apartment
Our house is both very close to the center of Nimes and located in a secluded residential area in the hills of the bucolic "Garrigue", the name given to the forest in this part of France. It is peaceful and private, and our pool helps make it an ideal spot to get away from the bustle of city life. Nimes is also ideally located. It is close to many cultural centers: Uzès, Arles, the Pont du Gard, the Camargue, the Cévennes mountains, Avignon, Montpellier, Marseille and Aix-en-Provence, etc.

This location has many attributes, starting with the owners, who are great hosts and became friends during our stay. Anne-Christine was very helpful in providing details for exploring the area and helping with travel arrangements and directions, especially when our French failed! There are many interesting places to explore in every direction, starting with Nimes itself. A car is really necessary and navigating the narrow roads in the immediate area can be very challenging until one becomes accustomed. The photos and descriptions provided are certainly accurate and the property is very clean. Local markets, Le Pont du Gard, Le Camargue, restaurants and shopping in Nimes are just some of the activites we enjoyed. We would certainly recommend this property.

A warm welcome was provided on arrival, so our vacation had a good start. The house was really clean and everything you expect to be available in a holiday house was present. The property is very wel located to explore the region. Whitin an hour in each direction you can visit many interesting places. The house is very close to the old center of Nîmes (5 minutes by car), so very interesting for evening diners in the city. Nevertheless the house is located in a calm environment, so you can also enjoy the quietness while relaxing in the pool area. This property is one you would recommend to friends and relatives.

Paradise Found!

My daughter and I stayed in apartment Lavendar back in 2005 when she was moving to Nimes for a teaching assignment. It was a very hectic week, trying to find a permanent rental for her to settle into. But, every evening we would return to our peaceful apartment Lavendar and all the stress of the day would end. The grounds of this property provide so much tranquility. Every night we would dine on the terrace under the stars and look out over the village. Absolutely beautiful! The apartment itself is very comfortable, immaculately clean and charmingly decorated. The best part of our week there was meeting the owners. They truly are great hosts and were very helpful to us all week. I cannot wait to return to this little piece of Paradise!!

We stayed in the Lavendar apartment five days and four nights with our children 11 and 9. Everything was wonderful. Christine and Jacky were perfect hosts who made us feel welcome and graciously helped with logistical issues. After a long day of sightseeing it was always delightful to arrive at the apartment and have a meal on the patio overlooking the property and recharge for the next day. Bravo Christine and Jacky for creating and sharing such a place.

If you are looking for a relaxing holiday with your family where you can escape and laze by the pool but still feel close to civilization, this gites is perfect. Situated 5 minutes from the centre of Nimes, it feels like you are in the hills as the mistral breezes caress your skin as you sunbathe. The property is well maintained, very clean and caters for every need. The owners Anne-Christine and Jacques are absolutely fantastic - always on hand to answer queries but never intrusive. They speak excellent English and are superb hosts. The photos on the website do not do justice to how lovely this property really is! Nearby sites and cities are easily accessible - best places to go are Uzes, Orange, Arles, Pont Du Gard and the bamboozerie! We have been 3 years on the trot and every year it gets better. If you do go don't tell too many people how great it is - best kept a secret!!

We had a wonderful week there in June 2010. Anne Christine is a delightful, generous and helpful host with a good sense of humour. The apartment was very clean, spacious and had everything we needed - an oasis in large, private grounds with a swimming pool. The apartment itself was quiet and private, with lovely paved terraces overlooking the pool. We would recommend having a car - to visit Nimes ville itself and the wonderful towns around - Uzes, Arles and Pont du Gard in particular.

Ana Cristina & Jack were the perfect hosts. Our accommodations were excellent and exactly what VRBO described. Fully equipped kitchen, very comfortable beds, & the view was awesome. You're not to far from downtown Nimes but once inside the property you feel like you're a thousand miles away. Ana ensured that we became familiar with the area by providing maps and ideas to get the most out of our five day stay. We enjoyed a day trip to the Calanques in Cassis, and then returned to our lodging for some relaxation. Nimes is full of history, toured the Arena and enjoyed the local market. Thank you Ana Cristina & Jack -- we hope to return. Until then, Au Revoir. Cantu Family – Texas USA
