Why the Owner Chose Manuel Antonio
My husband and I came to Costa Rica 20 years ago as wildlife photographers. We were attracted by the 4 species of monkeys, sloths and other diverse fauna here. Our dream was to own a home on the beach but it was always just out of our reach in Manhattan Beach, CA.
After much searching along the Pacific coastline we finally arrived in Manuel Antonio and realized we had found the perfect place. This property had monkeys, volleyball and we were on the beach! It was everything we wanted. Unlike absentee vacation rental homeowners, we live in our Discovery Beach House whenever our rental calendar allows. We are truly inviting you into our home as our personal guests.

Since this property was once part of the National Park, you don't have to trek around all day looking for wildlife to photograph. It comes to you. Your second story master bedroom terrace is the perfect place to take photos and you don't even have to get out of your 'jammies!
You'll love waking up to the sound of ocean waves and the occasional call of howler monkeys. You'll feel as if you're in your own private Shangri-La, yet, you can step outside your gate and participate in everything wonderful Manuel Antonio has to offer.

Evelyn Gallardo is the author of “Among the Orangutans.” She and her husband David worked with Dr. Birute Galdikas on the Orangutan Project in Borneo in 1984 & 1987 and photographed mountain gorillas for Dr. Dian Fossey in Rwanda in 1985. She’s spoken about primate and rain forest conservation at more than 500 schools worldwide. She studied photography and creative writing at UCLA.
She moved to Manuel Antonio in 2004 to build her dream home on the beach and to convert her 2 properties into private wildlife reserves. She has 2 vacation rental homes and moves between them depending upon which one is available. It’s an unusual lifestyle but it works for her.
